A very different week……………………………………………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
9/4/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home, lunch and down to do the blog. A short nap then out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home to meet the Rice family pulling in. Had steak, burgers and dogs on the grill with baked potatoes and corn. Great desserts. They departed, we cleaned up then usual evening routine.
9/5/22 – Monday – Up a little late today. Downstairs and finished the Ipad stand for Kathy. Did some chores around the house. Lunch then downstairs and played radio. 20 meters was in good shape. Made a phone contact and 2 PSK contacts. Dinner then usual evening routine.
9/6/22 – Tuesday – Up a little late again today. Kathy was out with the ladies from church for lunch and to shop at a fancy flower nursery. I spent the morning uploading my logs. Had a snack for lunch and played radio till Kathy got home. Then out to Cattleman’s Steakhouse for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.
8/7/22 – Wednesday – Up a little late again today. Woke up around 5:30AM and couldn’t get back to sleep till almost 8AM. Worked in the shack most of the day and got my microphone switch modified to use my headset. Nothing else exciting. Usual evening routine.
8/8/22 – Thursday – Up early this morning to go for blood work at 8AM. Home a little after 9AM. Got us a couple appointments at Walgreens for COVID booster shots this evening. Out to do the yard work. Finished a little before 3PM. Inside, cleaned up and out to Carter’s tennis match. Back to Julie and Mike’s for dinner. Then to get our COVID booster shots. Stop at Dairy Queen for dessert. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
8/9/22 – Friday – Up at the usual time and out to get my hair cut. Gary was busy today. Home and was planning to ride the motorcycle. It’s a good thing I decided not to do that. A little after lunch I started have a reaction to the COVID shot last night. Chills, aches, just miserable. I spent the rest of the day in bed and ate very little.
8/10/22 – Saturday – Up a little early and out to the Greater Louisville Ham Fest. I was helping with the testing from 8AM till a little before 11. Then I went down to the Ham World folks and got an antenna I wanted for the truck. I met some people I haven’t seen in awhile and some people I’ve spoken to on the radio and never seen. I looked around and everything used was way overpriced. I went outside to where they were tail gating and they were closing up so I took my antenna and came home. Kathy was out shopping to I organized some things and wait for her to come home. Then we went to Cattleman’s Steakhouse for a late lunch. Nap this afternoon and some chores. A snack for dinner and usual evening routine.
Now the particulars:
OK, something different. I want some comments on what you folks see happening in this picture. Call, text, email or comment on this post.

Last weekend was labor day so we celebrated Sunday so the Rice family didn’t have to rush home with the kids for school the next day. They came over after Mike got off work. Had good food and a good time.
Worked on several projects this week. I finished up the stand for Kathy’s Ipad.

I basically used a mobile mount for the Ipad and built a base for it. Got some Red hard wood at Lowes, cut it to size and put on polyurethane and felt on the bottom. Turned out so good I cut another base and ordered the top part for myself.
The other project was to adapt my microphone switch for my radios to accommodate the boom mic on my headset. That worked out well and now I can use either the boom mike on the desk or the mic on my headset.
Bands were relatively good this week. I worked several station during the long holiday weekend and some station in the evening. Hope this is an indication that things are getting back to normal.
Thursday was a helluva day. I got up early to go up to the doctor’s office at 8AM to give blood in advance of my doctor’s visit this week. Got home a little after 9AM. Made appointments for Kathy and I to get our COVID booster shot before we travel. Then out to do the yard work. Finished up, cleaned up and out to South Oldham High School to watch our grandson play tennis.

Carter is the one on the left. He played a doubles tournament and won. Of course the girl that he played with was the top performer on the team.
Then we went over to Mike and Julie’s for dinner. Then to Walgreens for our COVID booster. Home with a stop at Dairy Queen for desert.
So the plan Friday was to get my haircut and head out on the motorcycle. After getting back from getting the haircut, something told me to reconsider the motorcycle ride. A good thing because by 1 PM I was in pain with the chills having a full blown reaction to the COVID shot. I did some research and it was only suppose to last for 24 hours and sure enough about 8PM or so I was starting to feel better. A reasonable price to pay for the protection I guess.
Saturday morning I got up a little early and was down to Shepardsville for the Greater Louisville Ham Fest. I worked with the group that gave exams for ham licenses. We were short VEs this year so I was sorta stuck there from 8AM till almost 11AM. Usually they just do 2 hour shifts. So, by the time I got out of the testing room I had a chance to buy an antenna for the truck and meet some people I haven’t seen in awhile. Met some people I’ve talked to but never seen. Then outside to the tail gate area but by that time most people were packing up. All good I guess as I didn’t spend more money.
Well that is the story for this week. Look forward to the comments on the picture. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way. Blog at you again next week.
Okay, are the dogs and Kathy looking for a “lost” dog toy or dog item? On the Covid booster front…was this your first or second booster? I had my first and I had a mild reaction that just made me tired. Don’t plan on having another, at least not just yet. Hope all is well with your A-Fib. Looking at the tennis picture, at a distance it looks like Todd!

Close on the picture. I’ll explain next week. That was my second booster. Supposedly the newest and greatest. I had no adverse reaction on any previous shot.
