This will be a short one…………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
12/03/23 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Down to do the blog. Out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home, picked up Kathy and over to Applebee’s for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.
12/04/23 – Monday – Up at the usual time. Did some work on the computer, canceled my SirusXM and made an appointment to get my COVID Booster. Down and practice code. Up and got cleaned up. Lunch then up to get my shot at Walgreen’s. Stopped at Walmart and got Kathy her gift certificate at the nail place she goes to for Christmas. Home and did some research online. Tried to take a nap but the dogs did not cooperate. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Usual evening routine.
12/05/23 – Tuesday – About 2AM I got hit with chills and aches. Obviously a reaction to the COVID booster I got. Sick as a dog for most of the day. Started to subside by 2PM with the help of rest and Tylenol. Nothing else exciting for the day.
12/06/23 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time. Almost all symptoms of the reaction were gone. Just felt a little more tired than usual. Practiced my code and did some things on the computer. Helped Kathy with kitchen things and laundry. Not much else happening.
12/07/23 – Thursday – Up at the usual time. Feeling much better today. Kathy was already up and out to take Shelby to school. Julie had something else to do with the twins. Then she was going to do her volunteer things at the VA hospital. I spent the morning on the computer doing research on various ARRL programs. Had lunch then played radio. Kathy got home mid afternoon. We had dinner then usual evening routine.
12/08/23 – Friday – Up at the usual time. Got cleaned up and out to the church to setup the audio equipment to record the service on Sunday. Then to the Lighthouse Diner for lunch. Kathy took off to Physical Therapy. I did some cleanup then took a nap. Kathy picked up Jersey Mike’s subs for dinner. They were terrible. Then I went into J-town to help with HAM testing. Home and usual evening routine.
12/09/23 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Usual Saturday morning routine. Down and did some cleaning up. Up for lunch. Down and worked on my friend Craig’s project awhile. Had a 45 minute ragchew with a fellow in Massachusetts on CW. Up for dinner. Usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Well, the anti-vaxers will all have a smirk on their face. I got the COVID booster on Monday at Walgreen’s around 2PM and at 2AM on Tuesday morning I was sick. Chills, temperature, aches, all the symptoms one would expect with the flu. Did some research and they said if you get a reaction it would be 1 to 3 days depending on how fast the onset was. Didn’t explain that last part. Anyway, by Wednesday morning I was doing well. I still was tired and not ready to fight any wars. That wore off by Thursday. So, in my humble opinion, a small price to pay for the protection.
My SirusXM subscription is to expire on the 17th of next month. I got the renewal notice in the mail this week that the service would cost almost $300 for my renewal. I’m fed up with their bullshit. They do that with the hopes you won’t notice then nail you. And it’s so hard to cancel. You can’t just get an “OK” when you call to cancel. You can’t even do it on their website. You gotta talk to a person that is pre-programmed to try to give you all these “Deals” in descending order of value in the hopes that you’ll jump at one. Ultimately if you hang on long enough you get the service for the same price you paid last year. I guess I’m becoming even more intolerant as I don’t want to play their silly ass games. I’ll make up some CDs to take with me and we can always plug our phone into the sound system in the truck and listen to what we want that way. SirusXM just lost themselves a customer.
Friday we got the sound system ready to record the service for Christmas. I tried it out this morning. I set a password that was easy to remember but really didn’t worry about it because I have the thing set to automatically login when it’s turned on. What I forgot was to turn off the screen saver feature. And of course it came up 15 minutes into the service. I couldn’t unlock it to save the recording so that was a waste. Maybe I’ll get lucky and remember it someday.
Lynn texted this week to say she is on her way to Florida. She goes down there for the holidays then stays around till the May time frame. I wish her safe travels and a good stay with her sisters and their families.
I’ve been giving the code a break. Not productive to beat it into your head while your sick and I think this is a good time to give it a break till after the holidays. I did send a couple Radiograms over the net this week. Also had a good 45 minute ragchew with a guy up in Massachusetts on CW. So, I’m staying practiced just not doing anything formal.
Well that is about all the excitement this week. Hopefully next week will be a little more productive. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
