Not an exciting week but did a lot………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

01/14/24 – Sunday – Up at the usual time and out to church with Kathy.  Home, lunch and down to do the blog.  Out and over to Gary’s for the Sunday Afternoon get together.  Home, picked up Kathy and down to the Chinese Restaurant for dinner.  Home and usual evening routine.

01/15/24 – Monday – Up a little early this morning.  Checked into the “Over the Hill” net in Altoona.  Kathy got up with a cold this morning.  Got cleaned up and got started on the stuff to make Jambalaya.  Downstairs to practice code but found a problem with the laptop.  So had to back that up.  Mike, Julie and the kids got here a little after 10AM.  Kathy, Julie and the twins went downstairs to play games while Mike and I made a batch of Jambalaya.  We finished that up, cleaned up the kitchen then Kathy got the spaghetti ready for lunch.  We had lunch, cleaned up and Mike, Julie and the kids departed.  Kathy and I finished cleaning up.  Then a nap.  Up and made a zoom class at 5PM.  A light bit to eat.  Otherwise, usual evening routine.

01/16/24 – Tuesday – Up a little late today.  Did some chores first thing.  Then down to the shack to play radio and do some TARPN work.  Up for lunch.  Back to the shack and emails.  Did a Zoom class at 3PM.  Up for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

01/17/24 – Wednesday – Up a little early today.  Got on the “Over the Hill” net in Altoona.  Then down to the shack to learn a little about Vband and my Morserino.  Up lunch.  Some chores around the house.  A nap.  Down to the shack and played radio on my new QMX.  Up and took Kathy car down to fill it with gas.  Ran the Vibe to melt the snow off it.  In for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

01/18/24 – Thursday – Up a little early today.  And a dentist appointment to take care of the tooth I broke.  Got finished there around 10:30AM.  Stopped for gas on the way home.  Home and some domestic chores.  Had lunch.  The Novocain kicked my ass this time.  After I had lunch I went to bed and slept till 2:30PM.  Kathy was up early and out for her volunteer gig at the VA hospital.  She got home shortly after I got up.  I went to the shack and continued my efforts to get the radio programmed for another TARPN link.  Up for dinner.  A Zoom class at 6PM.  Otherwise, usual evening routine.

01/19/24 – Friday – Up a little early this morning.  Kathy was up getting ready for Physical Therapy.  I made the “Over the Hill” net in Altoona, PA.  Did the chores in the kitchen then down to the shack to make up some power cables and do some cleaning.  Kathy stopped at Lowes on her way home to pick up a water filter for the fridge.  She got home and I installed that.  She graduated from Physical Therapy so that’s the end of that.  I took off my cardiac monitor a couple hours early, boxed it up.  Kathy and I took the truck down to the Post Office and mailed the monitor back and a letter she had.  Then over to Hometown Pizze for lunch.  Home and put the truck away.  Inside and ice cream for dessert.  Took a little nap.  Up and a shower.  Had dinner and usual evening routine.

01/20/24 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Did my Saturday morning chores.  Down to the shack and did computer work, answered emails and posted some things on the QRP-Labs group.  Up for dinner.  Kathy went grocery shopping.  I went back to the shack and got my portable stuff out to get it ready for possible use on Wednesday morning.  Kathy came home and I help unload groceries and put them away.  My new paddles came for my QMX.  Got them modified with bypass caps and tried them out.  Made a contact Pensacola, FL on 5 watts and with my new paddles.  Up for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

Monday was Martin Luther King, Jr. day and Mike, Julie and the grand kids had off. So, I invited Mike over to make Jambalaya. It’s a long story but the freezer he was keeping it in got defrosted and the last batch we made was destroyed. So, the wife and daughter decided it would be a good time for them all to come over. Mike and I did the Jambalaya while Kathy, Julie and the twins played a board game. Mike and I finished up, cleaned the kitchen, then Kathy had a big lunch for us. A good day.

Kathy did her volunteer work at the VA on Thursday. I had a dentist appointment. I broke off part of a tooth. To my pleasant surprise he said he could put a crown on it and that would take care of it. Glad they didn’t want to pull it.

Friday was Kathy’s last day of PT.

We got about 3 inches of snow Thursday night in Friday.

Here’s what it looked like out the sliding doors to the rear deck. Just enough to make it pretty but not enough to do anything about. We could get the car in and out and it’s going to be up close to 50 this week so that will take care of it.

Attended Zoom classes Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. So I’m keeping up with that.

Played with my TARPN node Tuesday and Thursday.

Had the cardiac monitor on for 2 weeks and that was over Friday. So I took that off and put it in the box to send back. Kathy and I went to the post office to do that and had lunch while we were out.

Got a call from a guy in the HAM club Friday. He wants to go to POTA on Wednesday next week. So, Saturday I got my stuff out and got it ready for that.
