Week Ending 04/06/24

Stayed busy again but not a brutal week………………………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

3/31/24 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Helped Kathy in the kitchen getting things ready to take up to Mike and Julie’s.  Cleaned up and out to church.  Home, changed clothes, loaded up the car and headed up to Mike and Julie’s.  Had a good time.  Friends Ryan and Caroline came for dinner.  We ate a little after 1PM.  Kathy helped clean up.  We left there around 3PM.  Home and unloaded things. We took a nap.  Up for a snack for dinner.  Spent the evening getting Kathy’s Fitbit to connect to her Iphone.  Got that squared away and the ECG feature loaded.  So now she can do an ECG from her Fitbit.

4/1/24 – Monday – Up at the usual time.  Made the “Over the Hill” net.  Then down to practice CW awhile.  Up for lunch.  Kathy informed me her computer had issues downloading emails.  So, spent about 3 hours this afternoon sorting that out.  Found the problem but don’t know how to fix it.  Kathy was out awhile to take Shelby to the podiatrist.  Made a couple stops for dog food and human food.  Had leftovers for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

4/2/24 – Tuesday – Up a little early today.  Intended on going up to Julie’s friends place in Indiana to put together a piece of furniture for her.  Weather outlook was not good so I texted that I would be up Friday instead of today.  Then went to the shack.  Immediately got a Tornado alert.  Got Kathy and the dogs downstairs.  That all passed without incident.  Spent most of the day watching the weather, listening to the radio or practicing my code.  Took a short nap just after lunch.  Otherwise, usual evening routine.

4/3/24 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and out for a hair cut.  Kathy had her appointment right after mine.  I came home and practiced some CW till Kathy got home.  We had lunch.  Got my Apple Watch in the mean time and played with that awhile.  Talked to Todd on the phone.  Then down to the propane company and paid for my tank.  Stopped at ACE hardware to get their mailing system straightened out.  The to Country Mart for a few items.  Home and picked up Kathy.  Down to Dairy Queen for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.

4/4/24 – Thursday – Up at the usual time and made the “Over the Hill” net.  Kathy was off to do her thing at the VA then she was going to the movies with Julie and the grand kids. I folded the last of the laundry and did up the dishes in the sink.  Then down to practiced CW and worked with my new Apple watch to get it set correctly.  Folks came to take the fill valve lock off the propane tank I bought from Greenwell Propane.  Had lunch.  Did some work on the work bench.  Talked to a guy about his Astron power supply.  Got on my Zoom class at 3PM.  Then upstairs and waited for Kathy to get home.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

4/5/24 – Friday – Up a little early this morning.  Cleaned up and out with Kathy to Indiana to finish up our project at Julie’s friends place.  Got that done and was gone by about 10:30.  Stopped at Lowes off Brownsboro road for a lock set for the office door upstairs.  Then down to Westport Road and Bob Evans for lunch.  Home and put things away.  Then a nap.  Up and Zoom class.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

4/6/24 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Usual Saturday Morning routine.  Cleaned up and out with Kathy around 10:30.  Up to the Derby Dinner Theater to meet Mike, Julie and the grand kids.  We went to the Matinee to see Footloose.  Great food, great entertainment and great company.  Got done and was out of there around 3:30PM.  Home and put the truck away.  Had a snack for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

Sunday was Easter so we had lunch with Mike, Julie, the grand kids and mutual friends Ryan and Caroline. I helped with peeling potatoes and slicing them for the scalloped potatoes. She made green bean casserole and made a lemon pound cake. Got most of that done then off to church. Home and loaded the car and off to Mike and Julie’s. Had a great time. Food was good and company was great.

While we were at Julie’s she suggest that Kathy and I get watches that we could do our ECG on. Kathy has a Fitbit so I tried to set her up but it wouldn’t connect to her phone. So I spent most of the evening fixing that problem. While I was at Julie’s I ordered an Apple Watch for myself from a refurbishing place. Only cost $150 for a refurbished series 5 watch. I got it Wednesday and spent a lot of time Wednesday and Thursday getting that working the way I wanted. I bet the cardiology people just love these things. You can record your ECG, export it from your watch to your phone then send it to anyone you want. Technology, amazing stuff.

Monday Kathy informed me as she was going out the door that she was having problems downloading her email. I took a look at it and it took me a good couple hours to figure out it was Malwarebytes that was keeping Outlook from connecting to the mail server. I tried many things to get it to stop doing that so I finally just disabled that feature in Malwarebytes. It’s not fixed but she doesn’t see the trouble now.

Kathy I went up to Christine’s house in Indiana to help here with somethings. We didn’t finish so I was planning on going back up Tuesday. But when I got up there were all kind of storm warnings. I texted Christine and told her I wasn’t coming as I didn’t feel like driving through storms. It was shortly after we got a tornado warning. Nothing damaged here but about 25 to 30 mile north of here they had a couple touch down and it did a lot of damage. So, we decided to go up Friday and we got things done for her.

Beside working with my new Apple Watch on Wednesday, I went down and paid for the propane tank. A little history here, a couple months ago we got a letter that said since we didn’t use enough propane they were going to charge us $149. That’s beside the $75 tank rental fee. So I talked to a few people and was advised to just buy the tank then I could fill it as often as I wanted and get the propane from the cheapest source. So I asked for the price on the tank and it was $275. That made it a none decision. We now own the tank and we don’t have to pay rental fees and we can get it filled by anyone we want.

Kathy did a lot of running around on Wednesday so I took piety on her and took her to Dairy Queen for dinner.

Thursday Kathy went for her volunteer duties at the VA. She left a little early as she was meeting Julie, Mike and the grand kids after she was done at the VA to see a movie. I did some domestic chores that weren’t finished up and spent time practicing CW, working with my Apple Watch and taking a Zoom class.

For my birthday, MIke got us tickets to see Footloose at the Derby Dinner Theater. So we all went up there for the luncheon and matinee. The food was great, the show was tremendous and the company was great.

I’ve been getting back in the swing of things with the CW. Did two Zoom classes this week as usual. The Friday class is the most challenging. I’m having issues being able to send CW as a conversation. It’s very difficult trying to think what you want to say, get the spelling of the words correct and translate that into the Dits and Dahs of CW. Not as easy as it sounds. But I’m getting there.

Well, as always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
