A nice week. Got a lot done………………………………………………..
As always, first the chronology:
6/2/24 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Down to do the blog. Out to see Gary. Home, picked up Kathy and over to Shelbyville for some shopping then to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.
6/3/24 – Monday – Up at the usual time and made the net. Cleaned up and out to the accountant’s office to pay for them doing the taxes and to pick up the paperwork. Over to Battery and Bulbs Plus to drop off a couple motorcycle batteries for recycling. Over to the UPS store to return the defective torque wrench I got from Amazon. Home and had lunch with Kathy and Shelby. Kathy and Shelby took off and I took a nap for an hour and a half. Then out to do the annual maintenance on the garage doors. Took the oil and oil filter wrench I got from UPS over to the Morton building and put that away. Back inside. Kathy came home and I helped her unload the car and put things away. Had dinner and usual evening routine.
6/4/24 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time and made the net. Got cleaned up in case the motorcycle was done this morning. Out to the Morton building to do some organizing and cleaning. In for lunch. Kathy came home with Shelby so we went to Dairy Queen for lunch. Then cleaned the church. Home and dropped off cleaning supplies and picked up my internet diagnostic stuff. Up to Mike and Julie’s to look at their internet issue. Found a problem with the router in their media center. Power cycled it and all was good. Had dinner up there. Home, got gas on the way and got the Tomtom plugged in. Inside and got my stuff together for tomorrow and to bed early.
6/5/24 – Wednesday – Up very early this morning. On the road a little after 6:30AM. Down to Elizabeth town Police Station for my second drug test and a polygraph exam. That ran from 8AM to 10AM. Started home. Got there around 11:30. Kathy had gone up to take Chloe to dance rehearsel. She got home and went to bed. I had lunch and did some computer work. She got up and I went for a nap. I got up and we went out to the garden and worked for several hours. In and had dinner. Usual evening routine.
6/6/24 – Thursday – Up at the usual time and made the net. Kathy was up and out to do her volunteer service at the VA hospital. I got cleaned up and out to Taylorsville. Stopped at ACE hardware and got some things. Then to Country Mart and last the Dollar General store. Home and unloaded everything. Put the groceries away the out and put the new sprinkle on the garden and the new hose on the timer. Inside and did the dishes and some other domestic chores. Then lunch. Downstairs for some computer work. Up for a nap. Kathy came home and we continued to nap. Up for dinner. Usual evening routine.
6/7/24 – Friday – Up at the usual time and made the net. Got cleaned up and Kathy took me into the motorcycle repair shop to retrieve my motorcycle. Got home shortly before lunch. Had lunch and went to the Morton building. Fixed the leaks in the old garden watering sprayer since Kathy doesn’t like the new fancy one I bought for her. Then worked on the motorcycle. Took the shelf off that holds my cell phone holder and Tomtom holder. Cleaned it up, brushed it down and put several coats of paint on it. That should look much better now. Changed the oil, oil filter and put new crush washer on the drain plug. Think I over filled it so I might have to drain some oil out. Waiting for a call back from the expert on that sort of thing. In for dinner. Usual evening routine.
6/8/24 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Was planning to do the yard work today but weather looked rather risky. So we put off the yard work till Monday. I went to the shop and continued working on the motorcycle. Got the oil change completed, Put the shelf that I re-painted back on the bike and installed the mounts for the Iphone and Tomtom. Organized the top bag, threw things out that wasn’t needed and put other things in plastic bags to better organize them. Put the side bags on. Got the tire repair kits re-stocked and ready and put them in the side back. Moved the motorcycle over to it’s home and put the cover on. Re-filled a sand bag and put the cover back on the bed of the truck. Cleaned up and in the house. Did stop for lunch. Had a short nap. Got a shower then dinner. Usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
The twins are volunteering a couple days a week at the VA as well as other places. It’s a requirement here in Kentucky that you have volunteer hours to graduate High School. Both the twins are in the Beta club and they need volunteer hours for that as well. And of course it looks good on a resume. So, that’s leaves Shelby at home alone and that’s not a good idea. So she comes over to our house and stays. At least one over night. She is a good kid so it’s not a problem. And she likes a big breakfast so that’s the only time Kathy cooks breakfast for me.
The internet has been out at my daughter’s place since they had a power outage last week during the storms. Of course my son-in-law Mike thinks he can take care of it. He finally called Spectrum and they essentially told him it was his problem. Not knowing the layout, the guy from Spectrum told Mike it was either the Wireless Access Point or a problem with that cable. It was neither. The new wiz bang media room he put in has a sophisticated IP configuration and requires it to be directly connected to the internet so they can do things remotely. So, it was the router in that cabinet that was hosed and it took a power cycle for it to start behaving. All is good now.
Wednesday morning I was up and out early to be in Elizabeth town by 8AM. It’s about an hour and a half drive. Took a polygraph test and pissed in a cup for my second drug screening. That should be the last thing I have to do before I actually get the job doing court security. After they get the results I should get uniforms, etc. and get sworn in. Amazing what you have to do to get a $15/hour job in Kentucky. lol
Wednesday after I got home we got the garden put in. I got the watering things out from last year and I forgot we threw that short piece of hose away that went for the faucet to the timer as it was in very poor condition. I put the sprinkler in the garden and used another piece of hose temporarily and the old sprinkler had water spraying out from it in a lot of place it shouldn’t have. So Thursday I went to ACE hardware and got a very nice tripod sprinkler for her and a new piece of hose. Well, the new sprinkler didn’t satisfy her. She said it was missing areas. So I put a flat piece of metal where she said it was missing, turned on the sprinkler and showed her it wasn’t missing anything but she wasn’t happy. So, Friday I brazed shut the holes in the aluminum tubing that was spraying water and essentially rebuilt that sprinkler and put that in the garden. I should have shoved it up her ass. Oh well. Things are definitely going down hill.
Thursday I texted the guy at the motorcycle place where I took the motorcycle to get the new rear tire put on. He apologized for not calling and said the motorcycle was done. So, Friday morning Kathy took me over to get it. Spent the rest of the day working on it to get it ready for riding this summer. I needed to repaint the shelf that the mount for my phone and Tomtom is on. And I changed the oil and oil filter. Long story short, you tell if the motorcycle has the right amount of oil by looking at a sight glass. Well the maintenance instructions said it took 4 liters of oil if you change the oil filter. So, I used some of the oil to fill the oil filter before I put it on. Then dumped the rest of that bottle plus 3 more into the motorcycle. They were liter bottles as I got BMW oil from the dealer up in CT. When I looked at the sight glass I didn’t see the line. So, I added some more. Still didn’t see the line. Slept on it and decided I had put too much oil in the bike. So, Saturday I took the drain plug out and drained some oil and sure enough I saw it in the sight glass. The only problem with that was that the oil drain plug uses a crush washer to seal it and you really shouldn’t re-use them. So, since I had a spare I had Kathy change that crush washer on the oil plug while I kept my finger in the hole so I wouldn’t lose all the oil. A real circus event if there ever was one.
I have done nothing with my CW lately. Just too much other stuff going on. Plus the bands have been terrible lately so it’s really not been a pleasure to play with the radios. I did spend several hours looking for POTA stations to call on CW and didn’t hear any of them. So I guess that will be put off till fall when I can get back to it.
Well, that’s about it for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I blog at you again next week.
