Dropped Chloe off at the Blue Moon Salon to get her hair down then to church to help clean. Got text that shirts were done so went and picked them up. Home and a nap. Kathy came home with the girls from getting their hair done. Mike came to pick up the kids. We had dinner and usual evening routine.

8/10/24 – Saturday – Texted my friends Dave and Leeta and told them I wasn’t going to play radio today. Then slept in till 10AM. Felt much better as the day progressed. Got the radios and portable stuff back downstairs. Took a nap this afternoon and headed to bed early to make it an easy day.

Now the particulars:

Well Monday was a sad day. For those of you that know my friend Lynn, her sister Denise passed away Monday afternoon. She has had health issues for a long time and new ones arose a couple months ago. I’m sure Lynn will comment on the page when she has the particulars. Needless to say, Lynn went from her home in Texas to Florida to help take care of things and that’s were she is today.

On the home front things were a bit crazy this week. It started with a visit to the podiatrist on Monday afternoon. Saw a Dr. Winters and was very impressed. The whole staff was great. He confirmed my suspicion that my feet could be suffering from nerve neuropathy and also said it could be a circulation issue. So, he prescribe some medication for the possible neuropathy and suggested I use compression socks. Well I stuck my foot in my mouth as I told him that wasn’t possible as compression socks where only for old people and I wasn’t old. He politely informed me they weren’t just for old people as he pulled up his pant leg to show me he was wearing them. So, went home and order some. Got the medication filled and picked up Tuesday and the socks arrived Wednesday.

I decided not to do both at the same time since I wouldn’t know which fixed the problem if it was relieved. So, I opted to start taking the pills Tuesday night. I was suppose to take one a day for 7 days then two a day after that. Well, Tuesday night I didn’t sleep for shit. Not sure if it was the pills or concern I was going to oversleep for work Thursday. I took another one Thursday night and didn’t sleep for shit again. I continued to feel worse as Friday wore on. I got up around 5:30 AM Saturday morning with the sweats and really felt like shit. I was suppose to go play radio on Saturday for the KY POTA event but at 7AM I texted people and said I wasn’t going to be going. As Saturday progressed I started feeling better and slept very well Saturday night.

So, the root cause analysis concluded that I got a bug that is going around and it had nothing to do with the medication. Per the medical professionals it seems to be a new strain of COVID. I did in fact take a COVID test and it was negative. However, this new stuff is apparently not detected by the rapid COVID tests so even if you have it the test will come back negative. If you have the shots as I have, the symptoms are mild and only last a couple days as they did with me. I’m not suggesting everyone run out and get vaccinated. Getting that done is on an individual basis. Everyone knows my thoughts on that. I get the vaccine but it’s not for everyone. So, by weeks end things are back to normal and I’ll probably start tomorrow with the compression socks and wait till I’m off Wednesday and try the medication again.

Tuesday after work I started the yard. It was very hot and very humid. But I took it slow and got a lot done. Kathy got home after taking care of things at the Rice house and she started helping me around 6PM. I was exhausted so I came inside and she continued mowing till 7PM. It all didn’t get done but there’s always next week. I will deal with it then.

They came to cut and bale the hay from our field next door. Now it looks like we have one very large back yard again.

I ended up working a 1/2 day on Tuesday and almost all day on Wednesday. Of course I did my usual all day on the door on Thursday.

Got to buy the twins lunch on Friday. The girls had a hair appointment where we get our hair cut so we took them all out for lunch before the appointment. Shelby had some oral surgery and was dying for McDonald’s. But the twins don’t especially like that. So Kathy dropped the twins off with me at Subway. Then she took Shelby to McDonald’s and I took the twins to lunch at Subway.

This was our week to clean the church so after I dropped Chloe off at the Blue Moon and Kathy dropped off Shelby, we all went to the church and started cleaning. I was having a couple polo shirts embroidered for work and got a text that they were done while cleaning so I finished up my part and headed out to pick up the shirts. I went home and Kathy and Carter showed up shortly after.

Well that’s the story for this week and I’m sticking to it. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way. Please keep Lynn’s family in your thoughts and prayers. I will blog at you again next week.
