Not the best of weeks…………………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

8/11/24 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Blew off church. Kathy went. I did some computer updates. Kathy came home and we had lunch. I got cleaned up and took a nap. Then out to Cattleman’s for dinner. Usual evening routine.

8/12/24 – Monday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the handicapped entrance for court today. Court finished about 1PM. Did my time and headed home. Kathy was out to take Chloe to PT. I tried to nap. Got interrupted by phone calls, Kathy coming home and more phone calls. Finally gave up about 4PM. Did some chores around the house. Had dinner. Usual evening routine.

8/13/24 – Tuesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Started on the door at 7:30 to cover for Scott. He came in around 10 and I went into court and worked till 11AM. Home for lunch. Out to the Morton building and worked on the benches for the girls flowers. In and cleaned up. Had dinner then off to a HAM club meeting at 7PM. Home and usual evening routine.

8/14/24 – Wednesday – Had the day off. Up at 7AM and got cleaned up before breakfast. Made the “Over the Hill” net, got ready and off to get my hair cut. I passed Kathy on the way home as she was going to get her hair done. Did some computer work and played radio awhile. Kathy came home and we had lunch. I went in to play with the dogs and fell asleep. Slept most of the afternoon. What a wasted day. Up and dinner. Usual evening routine.

8/15/24 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Had to be there at 7:30. Worked till 4PM. Home, dressed down and a short nap. Then out for Pizza at Hometown Pizza with Kathy. Home, some domestic chores and usual evening routine.

8/16/24 – Friday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Had court starting at 8AM and lasted till around 12:30. Over to the office and filled in my time. Home and Kathy was out shopping. So let the dogs out and dressed down. Had lunch then a nap. Kathy came home and had groceries so I helped her put them away. Finished my nap. Up for dinner. Usual evening routine.

8/17/24 – Saturday – Up at 8. Had breakfast and checked my time standard. All is well since I replace the card. Reboot my main computer and it seems since Microsoft did the last update on windows it corrupted the security check file in GRUB. So I had to disable security boot in the bios to make it work again. Got cleaned up and dressed cause Julie is coming over this afternoon with some laptops for me to look at. Had lunch then down to start backups on my computers. Julie came and I worked on the laptops she had. She took off and we had dinner. Otherwise the usual evening routine.

Now the particulars:

Well, heard from Lynn that she made it to Florida OK. That was Thursday week before last. Haven’t heard anything from her since. I assume she is busy with arrangements and getting things settled after her sister’s passing. I didn’t feel it appropriate for me to call and interrupt. I’m sure she will let us know when she has time and/or is ready.

I still feel like shit. I have no idea what is going on. I feel light headed at times, no motivation most of the time. Nothing else to mention. Just shitty enough to feel miserable but not bad enough to stop me from working or doing other things. I thought maybe it was the medicine the podiatrist prescribed so have been playing with taking it a different times. Then stopped. Still no change. Nothing makes sense so I’m going to the doctor’s tomorrow and see if he can figure it out.

Made the HAM club meeting Tuesday night. Rather boring and painful. Nothing exciting just a bunch of talking and laughing at each other’s jokes. I guess you gotta take the bad with the good.

I worked Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday this week. Thursday I worked all day on the door and the other days were just 1/2 days. So not a bad week. I racked up 38.5 hours for the last two weeks. Not bad for a part time job. Keeps me busy and puts some extra money in the bank.

My time standard developed a hardware fault that I tried re-seating the card for a couple times. It came in hard this week so I swapped out the card with the spare I inherited. I spent Friday evening getting that reconfigured with all the correct parameters. Saturday morning I got up and checked it and it was running fine. So I finished configuring it and all is well now with it.

In the mean time, Microsoft downloaded some updates to windows. It screwed up my laptop to where it would come on, issue an error message and shut down. I got a screen shot of the error and did some research online and sure enough, if you have a dual boot system the updates corrupted the security in the GRUB loader that allows you to switch back and forth between systems at boot up. So, I ended up having to turn off the secure boot function in the bios on my computer to get it to work again. What a pain in the ass. Thanks for nothing Microsoft. Have I told you lately I hate Windows?

Had one interesting event in court this week. A gentleman came in and was standing in the back of the court room. So I went back and pointed to an empty seat. He asked why he couldn’t stand so I told him because I asked you nicely to sit down. He got called before the judge for some minor traffic violation. I think his fine was $25 or something like that. Anyway, he told the judge he was a Sovereign Citizen and didn’t have to listen to her. Three of us bailiffs and a deputy were on alert. The judge gave him a date by which the fine had to be paid and he just said she would never see him again. That was my first encounter with one of those folks. Very interesting.
