A lot going on this week…………………………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

9/22/24 – Sunday – Up around 7AM. Got things packed, cleaned up and had breakfast. Said goodbye to Todd and was on our way around 9:15AM. Stopped in Buckhorn off I80 for lunch at Wendy’s and gassed the truck. Then drove straight through to Fairmont, WV where we are staying overnight. Got checked in and out to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Back to do the blog. Total miles today 407.8 and 20.2 MPG.

9/23/24 – Monday – Up at 7AM. The worst night I’ve ever spent in a Holiday Inn Express. Had breakfast and on the road at 8AM. Had to make a stop for Kathy to use the restroom so I got coffee. Made a stop in Murray, KY for a burger at Hardees and to gas up. Got home a little after 2PM. Started unloading the truck. The wife took off to retrieve the dogs. I finished unpacking and putting things away. Total miles today 363.4 at 19.0 MPG.

9/24/24 – Tuesday – Up at 7:30 AM. Not a good night. I think all the candy and other things I wasn’t used to eating finally caught up with me. Had the heart burn along with needing to go to the bathroom every couple hours. I was able to make the “over the Hill” net this morning. Then got caught up on some things around the house. Rusty’s eye didn’t look good so Kathy got him into the vet at 11:15. He managed to pick up pink eye at the place we boarded them. Got some ointment that we gotta put in his eyes 3 times a day. But he really doesn’t mind it. Apparently it makes his eyes feel better. Then we called and got an appointment to have the fall heating system check scheduled. Had lunch then out to Murphy’s Camera store to take Kathy’s good Canon camera to be fixed. She got it out to take on the trip and all it would say is “Err 70”. So that’s off for repair. Home and Kathy went to bed with the dogs for a nap. I went to the shack and started cleaning up emails and doing medical checkins for my appointments later this week. What a pain in the ass. Had dinner and usual evening routine.

9/25/24 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM. Cleaned up and out to work. Worked the handicap door to the main court room from 8AM to 3:30PM. A long day. Home and took a nap. Had dinner. Down to the shack and the usual evening routine.

9/26/24 – Thursday – Up at 7AM this morning. Cleaned up and out a little after 8AM for a 9AM doctor’s appointment. Got done with that and headed to the bank to get a replacement debit card. Also got some spending money. Then over to Shelbyville and to the hospital to have more blood drawn and a chest X-ray. Stopped at Arby’s for lunch on the way home. Got home, let the dogs out and did some chores. Then off around 1:30PM for a dermatologist appointment. Then home and chatted with Kathy. Took a short nap then dinner. Usual evening routine.

9/27/24 – Friday – Up at 7:30AM and made the “Over the Hill” net. Then cleaned up and out for my haircut. Home and started getting dressed for work. Then got a text that court was canceled. Kathy went to pick up the grand daughters. I waited and did some computer work but they were running late so I had my usual lunch here. Then down to the Sheriff’s office to swap out holsters. Home and put that back together. Started doing some research. Kathy finally came home with the grand daughters after getting their hair done. I spent time with Chloe and watched her do her grandmother’s nails. Julie came to pick up the girls. Had dinner. Usual evening routine.

9/28/24 – Saturday – Slept in today for a change. Up and did the Saturday morning routine chores. Had lunch then started getting ready to go to the church for Octoberfest. Was down at the chruch by 2PM. Got things ready and the event started at 4PM. Lasted till 7PM then we started putting things back to normal. Got home around 8PM. Got things unloaded and put away. Then to bed.

Now the specifics:

I did not get the special addition of the blog done for our trip. I did get the pictures together and will try to get to that this week.

Sunday we left Todd’s house around 9:15AM and started home. Made a stop at the Buckhorn in Pennsylvania for gas and a sandwich. Then on to Fairmont, WV. It’s one of our usual stopping over places as there is a Cracker Barrel just down the driveway from the Holiday Inn Express that you can walk to. Had a not so comfortable stay as there were little kids running around and less than considerate adults talking loudly getting on and off the elevator. So we were up before our planned time of 8AM. We got cleaned up, had breakfast on the Inn then got gas and headed out. We made a stop in Murray, KY for a burger at Hardee’s and got gas. Got home around 2PM. Started unloading things. Kathy went to retrieve the dogs and an early bed time. Drove 407.8 mile on Sunday and 363.4 mile on Monday.

Ended up not sleeping well Tuesday night. I guess all my over indulgences caught up with me in terms of food. But I made the net. We noticed one of Rusty’s eyes was rather red so we got an appointment at the vets. Did some other chores and setup appointments. Kathy took Rusty to get his eye looked at a little after 11AM and sure enough, he has pink eye. So we started the medicine two to three times a day.

Then we took Kathy’s good camera into Murphy’s Camera Shop. She got it out before we left on our trip and it was displaying Err. 70. So we dropped it off over there and they are going to send it back to the manufacturer to get an estimate on repairing it.

Sure enough, Wednesday Bella’s eye started getting red. So we made a call to the vet and ordered more cream.

Wednesday we had court so I manned the handicap entrance. Had a total of 3 type of court plus drug court so it took most of the day. Started at 8AM and finished around 3PM.

Thursday was my day to do doctors. I was up and out for an appointment with my primary care physician at 9AM. In the mean time Kathy went to do her volunteer job at the VA hospital. While at the doctor’s i had a little discussion about my Levothyroxine. He wanted to decrease it and I didn’t understand why. So we came to a compromise and he said he’d do T3 and T4 free blood work and determine what to do from that. I also told him about my coughing lately and he thought it was post nasal drainage but with my smoking history he wanted a chest X-ray. That was all good.

So after I left there I went to the bank to get some cash and to get my debit card replaced as the one I had was cracking. That was all good.

Then over to Shelbyville hospital. Got my blood drawn and my chest X-ray. Left there and stopped at Arby’s on the way home for a sandwich for lunch.

Got home and let the dogs out and had a little desert. Then out for a dermatology appointment. Kathy and Julie both thought I should do that because of a spot on my back. The dermatologist said it was nothing and the family should stop worrying.

By now I got the results of the T3 and T4 blood work back which was normal so the Dr texted and said to leave the Levothyroxine at the same dosage. That was good.

Friday I was up at a reasonable time and got my hair cut. Came home and did some chores. Had lunch and started getting ready for court this afternoon. Got a text that court was cancelled so I got back into civilian clothes. I was suppose to swap holsters today so I drove into the office and did that.

Saturday was the first day I had to sleep in for awhile. So that’s what I did. This was Octoberfest weekend at church so we spent most of the day getting ready then after the event putting things back to normal.

I got the results back from the chest X-ray late on Friday. It showed some abnormalities but was not definitive. My doctor apparently didn’t have time to look at it so I suspect when he does I’ll have additional test if not a referral to a pulmonologist. We will see.

The storm dumped a lot of water on us up here. It was devastating to areas to the south and west. Our total rain fall was a little over 4 inches in 3 days. Friday the wind was rather bad but overall we escaped unscathed.
