Another busy week but a good one……………………………
As always, first the chronology:
10/13/24 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Had lunch at church. Home and did the blog. Out to see Gary for the afternoon get together. Home, picked up Kathy and to the new Mexican restaurant for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.
10/14/24 – Monday – Up at 6AM and out to work. Manned the handicap entrance to the main court house from 8AM to Noon. Came home and Kathy was out and about. I had lunch and cancelled my hair cut for tomorrow as I’m going to cover for the boss. Read the results from my CT Scan and forwarded that to Julie and Kathy. Then downstairs to fix the interface that allows my weather station to report to the weather underground and gives me access on my phone. Found a bad wallwart and replaced it. All is good now. Upstairs for a nap. Up and had a banana split for a snack then down to continue work on computers. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Usual evening routine.
10/15/24 – Tuesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Opened the court room at 8AM, court started at 8:30AM and was over by 9:30AM. Finished closing up and made it to get my hair cut a little after 9:30. Home, changed clothes and headed into Louisville to Murphy’s camera shop to retrieve Kathy’s camera. She looked at a few while we were there. Then to Kroger to pick up my prescriptions and get a flu shot. Then to Taylorsville and Hometown Pizza for lunch. Stop at Country Mart for milk and some trail mix. Home and put things away. Took a nap. Up and did some computer work and started cleaning up in the shack. Kathy went out with the Rice family for dinner at the Yoki buffet. I was still stuffed from lunch so I stayed home. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
10/16/24 – Wednesday – Got woke today a little after 7AM by the SO. The guy that was suppose to work the door today called in sick. So I got ready rather quickly and went in. Got there about 1/2 hour late. But got time from 7:30. Worked till 4PM. Home and had dinner. Usual evening routine.
10/17/24 – Thursday – Had alarm set for 7:30 and got awake around 6:45. Go figure. Up and had breakfast and made the over the “Over the Hill” net. Got cleaned up and down to pay the property tax bill on the land we bought. Back home and picked up Kathy. Over to Shelbyville to the bank. Met a couple people we hadn’t seen in awhile. Then to Walmart and Lowes for shopping. Over to Cracker Barrel for a big lunch. Home and put things away. Changed the light switch in the bedroom that was getting ready to quit. Tried on the new under shirts I got at Walmart. They will work well with my long sleeve uniform shirt. Got an appointment scheduled with a pulmonologist next week. Cardiac people want me to go for another stress test. Pulled the radio from the truck and put it on the bench. Everything tested OK. Fixed a power meter. Up for a snack for dinner and usual evening routine.
10/18/24 – Friday – Up at 6AM and in to work. Opened the court room at 8AM and court started at 8:30AM. Court wasn’t over till 12:30. Went home, changed clothes, had lunch and made my Stress Test appointment. Out and hitched the trailer to the truck and took off about 2PM to help Jennifer move some things for her mother. Finished up around 5:30PM. Home and put things away. Kathy went to pick up Chinese for dinner. Had dinner and usual evening routine.
10/19/24 – Saturday – Up around 3AM to keep Kathy company while she got ready to take off for the airport. She got on the road a little after 3 and I went back to bed. Up late, had breakfast and did the usual Saturday morning chores. Got cleaned up and had lunch. Then out to put the radio back in the truck and put the straps away after yesterday. Inside and did laundry. Dinner, cleaned up the dishes and usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Tried a new Mexican restaurant close to the house here. We had tried it when it first opened and I don’t remember why we haven’t been back. The food is great, prices reasonable and a staff that speaks primarily Spanish. So the usual. Went there Sunday evening and really didn’t have a problem with my stomach on Sunday night or Monday as I usually do. I think we will make this our ‘go to’ Mexican restaurant in the future.
I got a notice that my weather station wasn’t reporting so Monday I had a chance to look at it. The weather station is in the yard and it transmits back inside to a couple displays, one in my shack and one in the kitchen. It also transmits to a device that is connected to the internet and allows it to upload data to the Weather Underground website. That allows anyone, anywhere access to the information collected by my weather station. Both displays were OK so that narrowed things down to the internet interface. I tried changing backup batteries which didn’t help then I checked the wallwart (the thing that plugs in the wall and provides power). That was not working so I replaced it and all was good.
The story on Kathy’s camera. Well, she got it out a few weeks ago to use and discovered it had an error code 70 on the display. I don’t know shit about cameras so I wasn’t going to mess with it. So we took it to a reputable camera shop here in Louisville. They confirmed that it had a problem and they would send it in for us. Late last week they called to tell her it was not repairable. It seems the camera is about 10 years old and they don’t keep parts that long. So, she is shopping for a new good quality camera. In the mean time we went down to the camera shop to retrieve it. Perhaps some day when I feel real brave I’ll take a look at it.
Wednesday morning I got a wake up call from the SO. Seems the guy that was suppose to cover the door at the clerks office starting at 7:30AM called in sick. So I got up in a hurry and headed in. I got there about 35 or 40 minutes late. But I got time from 7:30 and worked till 4PM. One of the other guys offered to take my shift Thursday since I worked Wednesday and I was quick to take him up on that offer.
I have not been able to get into our local repeater from the truck. I’ve been leaning toward it being a repeater problem but thought I should pull the radio out of the truck and double check that. So I did that Thursday. Put it on the bench and everything looks good. Put it back in the truck Saturday and still can’t get into the repeater from the truck. I’ll be going up to check the repeater later this week. Also fixed a power meter while messing around the work bench.
Friday before court started, Jennifer, one of the lawyers that works in Taylorsville, was lamenting about not being able to get some things into her mother’s new assisted living facility. I guess several people had promised her and let her down at the last moment. So, like an asshole, I offered to do it for her with the truck and trailer. Little did I know it involved running after a couple carpets at Olie’s in Frankfort. Then we move a “Sleep Numbers” bed from Jennifer’s house to the assisted living facility. It was hell on my back but I felt good about being able to help her out. She has never been married and has no other family in the area so she truly needed the help. I’ll recover.
Saturday morning around 3AM Kathy took off for the airport for her trip to Cancun. I really don’t know why people have this thing for putting themselves through all this bullshit to enjoy time at a foreign place. But she will be there till sometime Thursday. I think she will be in late sometime Thursday evening or early Friday morning.
Beside putting the radio back in the truck I cleaned up and put the straps I used Friday back in the case they belong in and got all that cleaned up. Also managed to get all the laundry cleaned up for the week.
My brother-in-law up in Cincinnati fixes up computers and gives them to a school system in depressed areas where students would not have access otherwise. They are all Microsoft based so if the laptops won’t support Windows they send them to me and I load them with Linux if I can. Then these go off to other individuals that need a laptop and can’t afford one. So, they gave me 4 the beginning of the month and I was able to get 2 up and running. So they are ready for a new home when the need arises.
OK, had the chest X-ray and that showed some anomalies so my PCP sent me for a CT scan to clarify things. Well, they found some not so good stuff in my lungs and wants me to go to a pulmonologist. They also reported “Severe Coronary Calcification”. So, I touched base with the cardiac people I deal with and they want me to have a nuclear stress test. That’s the one were they inject some radioactive chemical, put you on the tread mill, them let you rest awhile and do a scan to see how well the heart muscle is absorbing oxygen enriched blood. I’ll go to the lung person this coming week. I have the stress test scheduled for next month. Apparently it’s a difficult test to get insurance companies to cover so they schedule them out to give them time to fight with the insurance. So that’s the story. I really don’t feel worse or badly. I am afraid this is one of those things they are going to do all kind of tests and come back with a story about them not doing anything until I show symptoms. Time will tell.
OK, that’s it for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and well. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
Well, this is not news I wanted to hear about your health tests. I’m sure you will keep us posted…hugs and prayers that all works out. Love ya…
