Week Ending 11/02/24

Welcome to November………………………………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

10/27/24 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Out to church with Kathy. Had lunch at church. Home and did the blog. Over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Cut that short to get home for my friend Stan’s arrival. Met up with Stan and got him situated. Then out to Olive Garden for dinner. Home and Kathy and Stan watched sports on TV, I went to bed, did over due exercises and sleep.

10/28/24 – Monday – Up around 8AM and breakfast. Then Stan and I went up to the range to do some shooting. However, the range was closed down due to air circulation issues. Made a stop at the PNC bank for Stan then home. Had lunch then back up to Walmart in MIddletown with Kathy to do some shopping. Stopped at Feeder Supply for dog food. Then home. Got the trike unhitched from Stan’s car in preparation for tomorrow. Had a great dinner. Then Stan and Kathy did the sports on TV again. I went to bed, did exercises and sleep.

10/29/24 – Tuesday – Up around 6AM. Cleaned up and out to work. Stan went with me to see what I did. Got done with court early. Around 9:30. Went to the office and got some information. Then home. Kathy was out to a Dr.s appointment. Stan and I had coffee and chatted till Kathy got home. Then we put up Halloween lights on the front deck. Over to Cattleman’s Steakhouse for lunch. Kathy took her own car then went to get Chloe for a Dr.s appointment. Stan and I went to Harbor Freight for a tarp for Stan. Then we went back to the gun range and put holes in paper. Came home and hitched his car back up to the trailer with his Trike. Then inside for a light snack for dinner. Stan and Kathy watched TV and I went to bed and did my exercises and sleep.

10/30/24 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM. Got ready for work and saw Stan off. Then into work. Did the handicap door at the main courthouse. Worked from 8AM to 4PM. Home, had dinner. Usual evening routine.

10/31/24 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and into work. Started on the door at 7:30AM and worked till 4PM with my hour off for lunch from noon to 1PM. Home, had dinner and usual evening routine.

11/01/24 – Friday – Up at 6AM and into work. Opened the court room at 8AM. Court started at 8:30 and was over at 12:30. Stopped at the library to do early voting but they had a line so decided to wait till tomorrow. Home and had lunch then a nap. Up and did some chores around the house. Dinner and usual evening routine.

11/02/24 – Saturday – Slept in this morning. Had breakfast and did my Saturday morning routine. Then out to vote. Hit the Firehouse which is the closest to our house. Got their about 5 minutes before they opened at 11AM and was out by 11:25. Very fast. Got gas in the vibe on my way home. Let the dogs out and played with them awhile. Then had lunch. Kathy was off taking Chloe to dance this morning. Kathy came home and we all took a nap. Up and some chores. Dinner and usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

Got a comment from a good friend I haven’t heard from in a long time. Rick gave me some suggestions on what to do with the dogs in the future if I get stuck watching them again. Thanks Rick. Look forward to hearing from you more often. Guess I’m overdue to call you.

My friend Stan stopped by on his way through from Michigan to Florida. He got here Sunday afternoon and stayed till Wednesday morning. It was great seeing him. We got to do some things I don’t make time for myself and he and Kathy had a good time watching sports on TV.

Stan and I got a chance to go out to the range. We tried Monday but the range had issues with the air circulation system so they had all the ranges closed. We tried again Tuesday with success. I took my service Glock and tried it out. Didn’t do bad for an old man. It shoots nice. I need to do that a couple more times to become comfortable with it.

We had another busy week at work. I banged out Monday to spend time with Stan. Then worked every day the rest of the week. Tuesday and Friday were short days but still had to dress up and go in. Looks like this coming week is going to be busy as well. Only day off will be Tuesday for election day.

Friday when I got off work I stopped at the library to vote and the line was out into the parking lot. Didn’t feel like standing that long to vote as I just got off work and was standing for 4 and 1/2 hours. So I went down to the fire house close to the house Saturday morning. They opened at 11AM and I got there about 5 minutes till 11. The line was wrapped around the little pad they have out front. But after they opened the doors things moved very fast. I was in and out by 11:25. Plus I ran into some nice people in line to chat with while we waited.

I can’t believe the people that came into the circuit court clerk’s office looking to get their drivers license renewed or looking for an ID so they can vote. And the number of people on social media looking for voting locations and restrictions. Election day is 3 days away and this is all the preparation you did. Wow, if they do as much looking at information before the election as they do for figuring out where to vote, we are in deep shit. It is very scary that people walk into the voting places without doing any research ahead of time.

Well, I got my nuclear stress test approved by the insurance company. I have a $30 copay which is rather cheap. I go for that test next Tuesday, the 12th. I doubt they are going to find anything just like they didn’t find anything remarkable at the pulmonologist. But, the family says to do it so I will do it. Having close family familiar with medicine is definitely a two edged sword.

Well that’s about it for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. Glad you got to see Stan on his way to Florida. I’ll be heading that way soon. Sure hate that drive, especially by myself. You can only talk and sing to yourself for a while! Plus it is just boring!

Well, got into a big mess this past week. They finally fixed my fence that was damaged in Hurricane Beryl. Went out back to see the work and saw that some weeds were poking through the fence slats. I pulled them through so i didn’t have to look at them. Unfortunately, I did not see the one leaf remaining on the stem. It was poison oak! I am now covered in poison oak on my face, neck, and both my arms/back of hands. Of course being you touch other places on your body, there are other small patches elsewhere. OMG does it itch and burn! I know you shouldn’t scratch it, but you gave to! Lots of calamine lotion and hydrocortisone. It been about a week and it says it can take 3-4 weeks to go away. Very uncomfortable. I don’t sleep good at night because it keeps waking me up, so sleep when I can and take naps. Don’t wish this on anyone. I’ve had poison ivy before, but not like this!

That’s my exciting news this week. Stay safe and healthy.
