Not an exciting week…………………………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

11/17/24 – Sunday – Up and out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Back out to J-town for HAM testing. Finished up a little after 3PM and headed home. Picked up Kathy and out to Applebee’s for dinner. Home, did the blog, otherwise the usual evening routine.

11/18/24 – Monday – Up at 6AM and into work. Worked the door from 7:30 AM to 4 PM with an hour off for lunch. Home and relaxed, had dinner then usual evening routine.

11/19/24 – Tuesday – Up at 8AM. Had the day off today. Spent most of the day dealing with Kathy’s Ipad issues and reviewing medical stuff for next year. Also paid some bills and got my gun permit renewal submitted. Kathy had a ladies group meeting at lunch so I had my usual wrap for lunch then leftovers (Meatloaf) for dinner. Usual evening routine.

11/20/24 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Court house opened at 8AM and court started at 9AM. Finished and out by 12:30. Home and Kathy was off grocery shopping. I had lunch, waited for her to get home and helped unload and put groceries away. Then a nap till dinner. Had dinner then usual evening routine.

11/21/24 – Thursday – Up at 8AM. Kathy was off to volunteer at the VA. I did computer work and gathered paperwork to get the truck re-registered. Then around 11AM went up and had lunch. Then cleaned up and into work from 1PM to 4PM. Over to County Clerks office and re-registered the truck. Home, changed and Kathy and I went to Cattleman’s Steakhouse for dinner. Home, put the new sticker on the truck and put it away. Inside for dessert. Otherwise usual evening routine.

11/22/24 – Friday – Up at 5:30AM, cleaned up and in to work. Worked the door from 7:30AM to 4PM with an hour off for lunch. Home, put the truck away and had dinner. Did my time sheet and emailed it. Then to bed, pills and relaxed watching TV. Otherwise the usual evening routine.

11/23/24 – Saturday – Up around 8:30. Did the normal Saturday morning routine. Down to the shack and cleaned up some more paper work. Updated my HamClock. Then a UPS alarmed and stopped working so I got everything off it and plugged into a power strip for the time being. Nothing else eventful.

Now the specifics:

Had HAM testing last Sunday. Only one guy showed up and he didn’t have his FRN. Everything published about HAM testing says you have to have an FRN and should apply for it before coming to the testing session. Anyway, I spent over a half hour talking this guy through getting his FRN. He was very impatient and before the thing on his phone would come back he was swiping or poking and getting way off track then we’d have to start again. Very frustrating. Then he ended up acing the 35 question test. Go figure.

I’m still working a lot of extra time. Had 45 hours over the last two weeks. Regularly working Monday and Friday 7:30AM to 4PM. But week after next the guy that’s out will be coming back to work half days. So, I’ll try to talk him into working his Monday and Friday from 7:30AM to noon. Then I’ll come in from 1PM to 4PM. That won’t be too bad.

Last week I had Tuesday off. Was getting all kind of conflicting information in the mail about my health insurance. I did about 2 hours of research then called to verify things. Looks like I’ll have no premiums to pay for medical insurance this coming year for me or for Kathy, So that will be good. Of course all the deductables are increasing but that is a good trade off for not having to pay any premiums.

Also got my gun permit renewed online. Just have to wait till the process happens and the permit gets sent to the sheriff’s office. Then I’ll get a letter in the mail that it’s ready for pickup. And that will be the end of that for the next 4 years.

Went in at 1PM on Thursday for my co-worker Mike. He had a doctor’s appointment. Got my truck re-registered after work.

Had some snow showers Thursday and the weather people were forecasting doom and gloom stuff for Thursday night. So I got up a 1/2 hour early on Friday morning only to find everything melted and no snow to be seen. Better safe than sorry I guess.

We had a brief power outage Thursday morning. Perhaps a 1/2 hour. But my UPS systems got a workout from the time the power went out till the generator kicked in. I have three and the one that runs my AllStar node, my HAM desk computer and the land line phone modem must have been weak. Last night it alarmed and shut down. So I bypassed it with a power strip just plugged into the wall and pulled the batteries out. I’ll have to get a couple new ones before I get that back working again.

Next week will be great. No court scheduled for Wednesday and everything is shut down Thursday and Friday. So, I work 7:30AM to 4PM on Monday. Open court on Tuesday at 8AM. Then I’ll have Wednesday through Sunday off. Will be great.
