A busy week again…………………………………………………..
As always, first the chronology:
12/01/24 – Sunday – Up at 8AM. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Had to stay late for Kathy to practice in the choir for Christmas. Home, lunch and down to do the blog. Over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home, picked up Kathy and over to Shelbyville to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Home, put the truck away and dessert. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
12/02/24 – Monday – Up at 7:30AM. Tried to connect to the Altoona repeater but I guess it was down. Had breakfast and got cleaned up. Did some work in the shack. Then lunch and dressed and into work for the 1 to 4PM shift. Home and tried making some phone calls. Dinner then usual evening routine.
12/03/24 – Tuesday – Up at 6AM and into work. Opened the court room at 8AM and court started at 8:30. Had the last case a little after 11 with no threats so I left at 11:30. Home and had lunch. Out to do some Christmas shopping. Home and a nap. Dinner and usual evening routine.
12/04/24 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and was on the handicap door to the main court room by 8AM. Court started at 9AM and ran continuously till 3:30PM with about a 1/2 hour break. Mike and I ran to Dairy Queen and got sandwiches and brought back to eat on the job. Kathy was downtown helping with the Nutcracker in a Nutshell. I had dinner, took care of the dogs and did a few chores around the house. Got to bed around 9PM. Kathy got home shortly after that. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
12/05/24 – Thursday – Up at 7:30. Was going to try and make the “Over the Hill” net but got caught up in other things. Had breakfast and did some kitchen chores. Kathy was already out to take Chloe into Louisville and help at the Palace with the schools coming to see the show. Got cleaned up and had lunch. Headed into work around 11:45. Manned the handicap entrance for court this afternoon. The session was over in 23 minutes. So I was done by 1:30PM. Home and had dessert. Then a nap till Kathy got home. Then up to Olive Garden for dinner with the Rice family to celebrate Shelby’s birthday. Home and usual evening routine.
12/06/24 – Friday – Up at 6AM and into work. Worked the door from 7:30AM to 4PM with an hour off for lunch. Home and a quick nap. Changed clothes and out to the Sheriff’s Office Christmas party. Got home around 8:30PM. Usual evening routine.
12/07/24 – Saturday – Up at 8:30 and out for breakfast. Kathy was up for a nap so I went back to bed. Didn’t wake up till 12:30. Kathy had already gotten up and went grocery shopping. I got showered and dressed just in time to help Kathy unload the last of the groceries. Then a quick lunch and out to the Palace Theater in Louisville to see the “Nutcracker in a Nutshell” that Chloe was dancing in. Then had an early dinner at “I Love Tacos” then home. Had some ice cream for dessert then the usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Didn’t have an extremely busy work week but a lot of extra stuff going on.
The new things started Sunday with Kathy practicing with the choir at church after service. So I helped count the money with the treasurer as she needs two signatures on the forms. That will continue till after Christmas with about 3 extra services.
Kathy spent three days in downtown Louisville helping with the Nutcracker. Wednesday was the dress rehearsal and costumes had to be altered. Then Thursday and Friday she worked as Usher for all the kids that came to see the performance. They invite all the schools to come in and see them perform. Then of course Saturday was the main performance and of course I was there along with the rest of the family for that. Needless to say, a wonderful experience.
Work was not too bad this week. The guy that was out on medical came back 1/2 days this week so I spent Monday afternoon working his second half of the shift on the door. He work a full day Thursday so I did his shift on Friday. The rest of the week I just covered for court. Tuesday was a short day as was Thursday. So all is good with that. He will be coming back full time next week so I’ll be back to my usual shift on the door Thursday all day and then covering court the rest of the time.
Since court security is part of the Sheriff’s office here, we got invited to the Sheriff’s office Christmas party on Friday evening. Had some good food, good company and lots of laughs.
Had issues with my AllStar node this week. Toward the end of the week I did some in depth trouble shooting and it appears I have a corrupt SD card. Might have to reload the system. That will wait till I have time.
Since I did get off early a couple days I did manage to get out and pick up the gift certificates I usually get for Kathy. Nothing too extravagant as I already paid for her $1200 camera. But she bought me a new UPS to replace the one that crapped out so I guess that was a fair trade.
Well that’s about all the excitement here. As always, hope this finds you safe and well. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
This is my “fun week”…6 month dentist appointment, annual doctor appointment to renew prescriptions and hair perm. Great news on medical side of things…all blood work results were “in the green” and nothing red! Yes!! Hope the dentist doesn’t find any issues. Shouldn’t be any concerns at the doctor visit.
This is the week to pack up and head across I-10 to Florida. I plan on leaving Thursday morning after my doctor appointment and go until around dark and stay somewhere. Then, on to Florida Friday. This way, I avoid dense fog issues trying to leave really early in the morning. This time of year it can be pretty foggy in the mornings.
I’ll be with my Diana and brother-in-law on Monday. Allen was diagnosed with bladder cancer. They are doing the biopsy on Monday and hopefully can get clear margins when the remove the spot. The spot he has is about the size of a nickel. Fingers crossed.
It is going to strange not having Denise there for the holidays. Sure do miss her. I won’t have her to go antiquing with. Denise and Mom will be there in spirit!
Only a few things I still need to get for Christmas. Will pick those up next week. Then comes the fun stuff…wrapping everything. I am the designated family present wrapper. It takes hours! Reminds me of wrapping all the gifts we used to get for the children at the firehouse after the Candy Cane Run.
I’ll keep you posted on the trip! Stay safe and healthy!
