Week Ending 12/21/24

And the holidays are here…………………………………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

12/15/24 – Sunday – Up at 8AM. Breakfast, cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Again I had to wait for her to practice with the choir for Christmas. But they enlist my services to help count the offering and fill out all the paperwork so that keeps me busy. Home and lunch. Down to do the blog. Out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home, picked up Kathy and over to Shelbyville. Had dinner at Cattleman’s Steakhouse. Then to the bank for some cash, Walmart for some items then Lowes for trash bags. Home, put things away. Did some computer work and otherwise usual evening routine.

12/16/24 – Monday – Up at 6AM and into work. Manned the handicapped entrance to the main court room from 8AM to around 11:30AM. Had some administrative stuff to take care of so I got paid till noon. Stopped at the Blue Moon on the way home and got my hair cut. Kathy was out and about when I got home so I had lunch and layed down for a nap. She came home, I got up and helped unload groceries and put things away. Did some other chores around the house. Had dinner then the usual evening routine.

12/17/24 – Tuesday – Up at 7AM, cleaned up and took Kathy for her eye appointment. They were dilating her eyes so not a good idea for her to drive. Home and started some chores including banking and prescription issues. Kathy took off to the ladies group at church. They went to the Tea Cup for lunch today. I did computer work and went up around 1PM for lunch. Kathy came home and we did some work together. Then down for a nap. Up and more work in the shack. Dinner and usual evening routine.

12/18/24 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Manned the handicap entrance to the main court house from 8AM to 4PM. Home and a short nap. Then cleaned up and down to church for the soup supper at 6PM followed by Advent service at 7. Home and usual evening routine.

12/19/24 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Manned the door at the circuit court clerks office from 7:30AM to 4PM. They had their Christmas luncheon so I had 2 hours for lunch. So, I came home, let the dogs out, had lunch and gathered things to trouble shoot a bad wand at work. Got off at 11:30 and was back in at 1:30. Fixed the wand and got off at 4PM. Home and had a nap till dinner. Had dinner then usual evening routine.

12/20/24 – Friday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Had District Court starting at 8:30. Opened the Court Room at 8AM. Court was over by 11:30AM and I left a little before noon. Home and lunch. Kathy was off for a hair appointment so I went to bed for a nap. Didn’t get much sleep between dogs barking at ghosts and the phone. Kathy came home and crawled in bed. Still not much sleep. Got up and started chores around the house. Had Chinese takeout for dinner. Then usual evening routine.

12/21/24 – Saturday – Up around 8:30. Breakfast and usual Saturday morning routine. Then down to the shack and continued clean up efforts. Kathy was off shopping so I made my lunch around 1PM. Then to bed for a great nap. Slept till almost 4PM. Slept very well. Up and some chores then dinner. Finished up cleaning the shack (finally). Otherwise, usual evening routine.

Now the particulars:

Well, got a complaint that someone couldn’t read Lynn’s comments so here is a summation of her comments last week.

Took two days travel to get to Florida from Texas with a lot of construction and traffic issues. She finally got there on the 13th of December. Of course she misses her sister that passed away this year but they have things lined up for the Christmas holidays. Meeting friends and family at different times and exchanging gifts. Family has some medical issues but all seems to be under control. And of course Lynn got all of that out to the way prior to her traveling to Florida. So best wishes to Lynn and her family for the holidays.

I worked 4 days this past week. Monday was a short day and the lady that cuts my hair had been sick so she planned to be in the shop on Monday. After I got off work I stopped in and got my haircut which was greatly appreciated.

I had off Tuesday and Kathy was going for her eye appointment where she had the cataract surgery. They were going to dilate her eyes so I thought it would be a good idea to take her. The appointment was 9AM and we got there with plenty of time to spare and was home by 10AM.

Then the ladies at church decided to have a Christmas luncheon at a place in Taylorsville called the Tea Cup. Kathy’s eyes were back to normal enough she could drive there.

Wednesday was a long day with Circuit Court a hearing then Drug Court. I got off just in time to get home, washed up, changed and off to the soup supper at church. Then of course my usual all day stint on the door to the circuit court clerks office on Thursday. Friday was a half day with district court and our favorite fast judge.

I have 5 days off now. No court scheduled on Monday now till the 13th of January. Of course the courts will be shut down Tuesday and Wednesday for the next two week. Then I’m on the door to the clerks office on Thursday and will work a half day on Fridays doing District court.

Since this is the last post before Christmas I thought I’d share some pictures.

One of the detectives at the Sheriff’s office is a camera buff so he was taking pictures of everyone as they came into the party. Here are the pictures he took of us.

Here’s another one of the detectives giving out presents to everyone. Mike is to my right and was a great help in getting me on board with everything.

Here’s a picture of Chloe with Kathy and me after the performance of the Nutcracker in a Nutshell. After we went to I Love Tacos (one of Chloe’s favorite places) and of course the joker came out in her and she took off her false eye lashes and made a mustache.

OK, that’s it for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. Doing our last minute running around for Christmas. I swear, nobody stats home here in Florida! Traffic is unreal! Your friends that live out in Top of the World here in Ocala must say a prayer everytime they get on Hwy 200! Parking lots are full and lines to get in the stores.

It finally got cold here (Florida’s definition of cold) in time for Christmas. Actually had to wear a sweater jacket out the other day! Now it can warm up…I’m done with cold!

I won’t make it a long comment this week. Wishing you, Kathy and the Rice family a Very Merry Christmas! Hope Santa leaves you a big pile of presents under the tree! Stay warm, safe and healthy!
