Not an exciting week, but busy…………………………..
As always, first the chronology:
03/30/25 – Sunday – Up around 8AM. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Down to do the blog. Over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home, picked up Kathy and over to Cracker Barrel to meet with the Rice family to have my birthday dinner. Had cake and all the stuff to make things complicated but it was all good. Home and usual evening routine.
03/31/25 – Monday – Up around 8:30AM. Down to finish up getting the taxes ready for the accountant. Couldn’t get the numbers to line up so spent a couple hours to find out I made a mistake when I wrote one down. Had lunch then took them over to the accountant. Home and took a nap. Dinner then the usual evening routine.
.
04/01/25 – Tuesday – Up at 8AM. Took the truck over to a new place for an oil change. Home and showered. Then over to Shelbyville for physical therapy. After PT went to the doctor’s office for my annual wellness visit. Home and grab a bite to eat. Down to retrieve the truck then to Country Mart for some lunch meat and milk. Home and started to do some research. Mike, my son-in-law, came to the door. He had come over to pick up Shelby. We advised him we were planning to take her to Steak n Shake so he decided we all should go. So went up there for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:
I’d like to thank everyone that checked in with us to see how we were weathering the storms. They started Wednesday night with heavy rain, thunder and lightning after midnight. Kept us awake and spooked the hell out of the dogs. Same thing Thursday night so by Friday evening we were both sleep deprived. Total rainfall from midnight Wednesday to midnight Thursday was 3.69″. Midnight Thursday to midnight Friday was 1.88″ and another 2.18″ from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday for a total of 7.75 inches of rain in three days. Got a little water in the Morton building that came up around the conduit for the power, water and drain. There is a crawl space under Kathy’s office and we got water in there but not sure if that was because of the large amount of rain or if it is normal. Never looked in there when it rained before. So who knows. In any event, since we have never had the sump pump in that area serviced, we decided to call this coming week and get some estimates on replacing it.
Needless to say, with all the lightning and thunder I didn’t do anything on the radio.
Sunday the family insisted on taking me out to eat for my birthday. I thought the plan was to go eat and come back to the house for cake. Well, things changed from what I understood till we got there. We went to Cracker Barrel and of course they don’t clean off the tables till you are ready to leave. So, we went through the mess of getting the waitress to semi clean things up then fussed with the cake. I won’t let that happen again. However, if you are into it, they have a new dish called the Louisiana style shrimp skillet. I recommend it. Very good.
Finally got the taxes finished up and ready for the accountant. The more I get organized means the less work he has to do and thus the less I have to pay. So I try to have things well organized when I pass it along. At this late date he will file an extension and they probably won’t get done till sometime in June. But that’s OK. I’m in no hurry.
Found a new place to have my vehicles serviced since Daugherty’s hosed me over on TPS work. It costs about the same but I’ve heard from several people that he does good work and doesn’t charge you for things you don’t need. He’s very good to deal with and the work on the truck was done well so we have plans for Kathy’s car to get serviced this week then we’ll give him the Vibe to look at.
Got to keep Shelby a couple days this week. The twins had things to do while school was out and Shelby didn’t have anything to do so we kept her. Always a joy to keep any of the grand kids over.
Exercises are coming along well. They are very aggressive at the place I’m going to so I’m sore most of the time but I can see improvements. They say they can have me in good shape by the time I need to go back to the academy and I trust they will.
Well that’s it for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
