Week Ending 9/13/25

An interesting week……………………………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

9/7/25 – Sunday – Up around 8AM and off to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Down to the shack for some computer work then out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home and picked up Kathy and out to Applebee’s for dinner. Usual evening routine.

9/8/25 – Monday – Up at 5:30 and out for a doctor’s appointment at 7:30. Got the word that everything appears OK and got a paper allowing me to return to work. Stopped at I-Hop for breakfast on the way home. Dropped Kathy off and went to Taylorsville to the office and handed in my back to work paper. Also chipped in $20 for flowers from the department for my bosses husband that passed away last week. Stopped at Country Mart on the way home and ordered some flowers from Kathy and me. Picked up some milk and bananas and headed home. Then to bed for a nap. Up for lunch and chores around the house. Dinner and usual evening routine.

9/9/25 – Tuesday – Up late. Missed my haircut appointment today. Worked on getting the key FOBs working for the alarm system. Had lunch and continued the repair effort. Kathy took off to take Shelby somewhere. I got cleaned up and headed over to Shelbyville and had dinner at Arby’s. Then to a HAM club meeting.

9/10/25 – Wednesday – Up late again. Finished up the work on the alarm system key FOBs. Had lunch. Then a shower and dressed to go into Taylorsville for the viewing of my bosses husband. Stopped at Country Mart to pick up some frozen dinners, fruit, lunch meat and ice cream. Home and put things away. A nap. Up for dinner and usual evening routine.

9/11/25 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Did my usual 7:30 to 4 shift on the door with an hour off for lunch. Home and picked up Kathy and we went up to the Mexican restaurant by the lake for dinner. Home and early to bed.

9/12/25 – Friday – Up at 6AM. Said goodbye to Kathy as she was starting off for Pennsylvania. Then to work. Did District court today and we were finished at noon. Home and let the dogs out. Took a nap then downstairs to do somme computer work and continue the cleanup effort. Up for dinner then took care of dogs and went to bed. Didn’t sleep well as they started barking every hour or so for some reason.

9/13/25 – Saturday – Up at 8AM. Tended to the dogs. Had breakfast then down to the shack to do some more cleanup. Up for lunch and let the dogs out. Back down to the shack for more work. Up for dinner then spent time with the dogs and let them out. Then bed.

Now the particulars:

It was interesting going back to work this week. The guys and girls in the office kept an eye on me and said they thought I was back to normal. I was a little tired when I got home Thursday. Then did District court on Friday which meant standing for 4 and 1/2 hours. Legs were beat but I felt good.

Kathy went to PA this weekend for a memorial service for her sister’s ex-husband. There was going to be family there from all sides and you may remember they don’t always get along. And since my charm school training was lost many years ago, I decided not to attend. I figured my big mouth would probably get me in trouble. So Kathy took off sometime after I left for work on Friday. She was driving straight through to Altoona where she and Todd got a hotel room. Saturday she was going to the service then start back half way on Sunday and finishing the trip of Monday.

Last Friday morning my bosses husband passed away. He was a retired deputy in the same department my boss and I work. He has been having physical problems for a long time. I would say it was a blessing for my boss but I’m sure she is going to miss taking care of him. Kathy and I went to the viewing Wednesday afternoon. The funeral was Thursday and I was working so I didn’t make that.

Ran into an interesting problem with the alarm system this week. The system was complaining that the battery was low in one of the key FOBs. So, I decided to take them all apart and change the battery since they have not been changed in 5 or 6 years. There were three and I discovered that two of them had loose battery holders. I thought I could get away with just changing the batteries and putting them together. That didn’t work too well. So I had to take them apart and solder the battery holders back in place. And of course they were surface mount so it took the special soldering paste and hot air to solder them. Anyway, got it done and all is good now.

Well that’s the story for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and well. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
