Week Ending 12/20/25

Last of a busy week for awhile…………………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

12/14/25 – Sunday – Up late and blew off church. Kathy went and we had lunch when she came back. Medication still wasn’t ready at Kroger so we took a nap. Up, cleaned up and out to Kroger for at least the antibiotic. They explained thet since the other was cough suppressent the insurance wouldn’t cover it. I asked how much it was without insurance and it was a little over $10 so I told them I’d take it. We shopped for a few things, picked up the medication and headed back to Taylorsville. Had Dinner at Dairy Queen. Then to Country Mart for some shopping. Home, put things away, had some dessert then bed.

12/15/25 – Monday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Manned the rear door of the main court house. Got done around 12:30. Home, had lunch then a nap. Up and some computer work. Dinner and helped Kathy with a few things. More computer work and bed.

12/16/25 – Tuesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the court room annex from 8AM to 11:30AM. Home and lunch. Took a little nap then up and downstairs to do some cleaning. Got cleaned up and met our friends Dave and Ginny at a restaurant in Mount Washington. Had a good time as always with them. Home and bed.

12/17/25 – Wednesday – Up around 8AM. Got cleaned up and took Kathy into Middletown for an eye doctor’s appointment. Wasn’t sure if they were going to dialate her eyes or not so we thought it would be a safe thing for me to drive her. Then home and some lunch. Then I took off for my appointment with my friend Kelsey at Commonwealth Pain and Spine Management. Home and Kathy took off for church and a soup supper before. I stayed home and did computer work then to bed.

12/18/25 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and work my usual 7:30 to 4 shift on the door at the Circuit Court Clerk’s office. Home and dinner. Usual evening routine.

12/19/25 – Friday – Up at 6AM and into work. Worked from 8AM to 11AM. Home and lunch. Then a nap and got up and dressed. Out with Kathy to the Sheriff’s office Christmas party. Then home and bed.

12/20/25 – Saturday – Up very late. Around 10AM. Had breakfast and read through some things. Kathy got up and we had dinner. I helped her with some laundry while she made cookies. Downstairs for some computer work. Up for dinner then usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

If you remember last week I made a trip to the urgent care facility to get some antibiotics. They sent the prescription for that and some cough suppressants to our local pharmacy. They antibiotic showed it was ready but not the cough suppressant. But we went in anyway and found out the insurance won’t cover plain old regular cough suppressant. I guess since you can get them over the counter. Anyway, I payed a little over $10 for the cough suppressant and nothing for the antibiotic.

Work wasn’t hard but long this week. Just had to get up 4 days at 6AM. 3 of the days were very short and of course my 7:30 to 4 shift on the door Thursday. But that should be it for the holidays. I have to work Tuesday this coming week to cover all the stuff for the week so that might be a long day. But Judge Witt will be on the bench and she is great to work with. So that will make time go fast.

Wednesday was my day off but I did a bunch of running around. We thought it was better for me to take Kathy to the eye doctor as we were sure they would dilate her eyes. As it turned out, they didn’t do it completely and she would have probably been OK to drive. But it was a good precaution.

My appointment with my friend Kelsey was very productive with some good things and some bad things. As I had suspected, my MRI showed my lower back is a mess. Disks deteriorating and others bulging. Bottom line there was nerves being pinched coming out of the spinal column. The good news was that the problem areas were consistent with my pain. So, the plan is for some epidural injections and physical therapy. I have my first shot scheduled for January 7th. I’ll have to stop my Eliquis 3 days before the injections and not resume taking it for 24 hours. The physical therapy people already called to set up appointments but I won’t start that till after the holidays.

About the only other thing happening this week was the Sheriff’s Office Christmas party that was Friday night. We had a good time. Sat with some of the folks from our group and then left early.

As always, hope this finds you safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
