This is going to be very short…………………………………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

1/25/26 – Sunday – Church was cancelled due to weather. Kathy watched football games. I watched the snow come down and did things in my shack.

1/26/26 – Monday – I went out and cleaned off the Jeep. Don’t know when I’ll go back to work. Didn’t do much else but look out at the weather.

1/27/26 – Tuesday – We made raisin filled cookies. Kathy has to take Shelby to the orthodontist tomorrow so we got her car out and went to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. Was good to get out.

1/28/26 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and into work at 8AM. Covered the handicap entrance to court and spent some time in the court room. Finished up around 4PM. Home, dinner and bed.

1/29/26 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and into work at 7:30. Covered the door to the circuit court clerks office till 4PM. Then to Elk Creek and got my hair cut. Then over to Shelbyville for PT. Home, dinner and bed.

1/30/26 – Friday – Johnny Johnston came over and scraped the driveways for us. Kathy did laundry. I did some household chores. Had dinner and bed.

1/31/26 – Saturday – Up around 8AM. Did the morning ritual that included my PT stuff. Spent the afternoon in the shack doing some research on antenna wire. Hoping I had what I needed but the wire I have is too thin so I’ll have to order some. Dinner and usual evening routine.

Now the particulars:

Last week we got a forecast that a snow apocalypse would happen over the weekend. It was no major thing by our standards. But everything shut down. It started last Saturday with snow after 2PM. It probably snowed 6 to 8 inches by midnight. Then it started with the freezing rain and sleet during Saturday night. So, Sunday morning we woke up to about 4 or 5 inches of snow covered by 2 to 3 inches of ice. Then the wind picked up and it blew more snow from who knows where and we got another 1/2 inch of snow on top by Sunday night.

I was scheduled to work Monday and that got cancelled. So I got ready to go in Tuesday and that got cancelled. We didn’t have court till Wednesday. We were not concerned much with the snow since unlike in Carmel, NY, our driveway here is about half again as long but is flat. So with Kathy’s car and the AWD, the Jeep with 4 wheel drive as well as the truck it was not an issue for us to get out. But there was not place to go. Very depressing.

We finally went to Taylorsville since we heard the Mexican restaurant was open. That was the first either of us were out since Friday. I remember why I got the part time job. Things were getting tense. We did manage to make cookies together without an argument. But other than that we slept, watched out the windows and napped.

Bye the middle of the week (Wednesday) they finally started opening most things although there are still things closed today. I worked Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday was busy for me as I worked till 4PM, got my hair cut then to PT. That was a long day.

I finally got motivated today (Saturday). I am trying to rebuild some antennas and need to get the correct wire with the correct velocity factor and all the rest of that technical stuff. And we got the announcement this week that a program we call HamClock is going to stop working on June as the developer has passed away. There is another program called OpenHamClock that I’m going to test this evening. So that’s the scoop for this week.
