Week Ending 2/7/26

A very busy week but with lots of fun…………………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

2/1/26 – Sunday – Up around 8AM cleaned up and out to church. Blew off going to Gary’s in the afternoon as I wanted to get some things clear out so I could get the Jeep out. Went to Cattleman’s Road House for dinner.

2/2/26 – Monday – Up at 6AM and into work. Had family court till noon. Marlene, Julie and I went out to lunch together and met up with Kathy. Then home. Had a nap then up and dinner.

2/3/26 – Tuesday – Up at 6AM and into work. Had probate and juvenile court but not much was scheduled. Was done by 11AM. Home and lunch. Did some chores around the house in preparation for Todd and his girlfriend coming to visit.

2/4/26 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and into work. Had Circuit court and a few other things going on so didn’t get done till 4PM. Home, changed and out to Olive Garden to celebrate the twins birthday.

2/5/26 – Thursday – Up around 8AM. Did some finishing things in preparation for Todd and Mary’s arrival. Had lunch and left for the airport around 3PM. Todd and Mary arrived and we started home around 5PM. Stopped at Arby’s for a snack on the way home. Both Todd and Mary were tired so we chatted awhile then everyone to bed.

2/6/26 – Friday – Up around 8am. Took Todd and Mary into Taylorsville and showed them around. I took them over to the Sheriff’s office and introduced them to the Sheriff. Also took them to the court annex and introduced them to the folks I work with and into the court room for them to watch district court awhile. Then to the gun range and put some holes in paper. Left the range around noon and went to the Rec bar to have lunch with Kathy. I came home and they stayed around to play some games. They came home and got ready to go out with Julie and Mike. Kathy and I stayed home and did the usual evening things.

2/7/26 – Saturday – Up around 8AM. Todd and Mary went with Julie, Mike and the kids to go curling. I went downstairs and started cleaning guns. Kathy and I had a bite for lunch then Todd and Mary came home. Got things ready for a big dinner. Julie, Mike and the kids came over for pictures then had a big dinner here. A lot of cleaning up after dinner. Some of the kids went home and Mike, Julie, Kathy, Carter, Todd and Mary played cards. Finished up cleaning the pistols and decided to wait for Todd to help me with the AR.

Now the specifics:

Sorry about the delay in getting this out. I had a lot of things to get caught up with and unfortunately the blog was not high on the priority list. But here it is.

First I should mention going to the Olive Garden on Wednesday evening to celebrate the twins birthday. Kathy was a wreck getting things ready as the twins waited till the last minute to ask Kathy for a Molly Brown cake for Chloe and a Texas Sheet cake for Carter. But she got it all done and we started up to Olive Garden. About half way in Taylorsville Lake Road she remembered she forgot the Texas Sheet cake so we had to turn around to get it. We were a little late for the party but it was all good.

The highlight of the week was Todd and Mary coming to visit. They arrived rather late on Thursday afternoon so there wasn’t much to say about that. We stopped on the way back from the airport at Arby’s and had dinner. We got back to the house and since Mary came from Las Vegas which is 3 hours behind us so she was extremely tired. So that was about it for Thursday.

Friday I took them into Taylorsville to show them off to the folks at the Sheriff’s office and then took them across the street to the court house annex. Everyone that met them like them. Or at least that is what they told me.

I am very impressed with Mary. She was at one time associated with the Aeronautical Unit of the Las Vegas police department. She became a pilot instructor while there and trained all their drone pilots. I guess she did a good job as the company that sold them the drones picked her up and now she flies all over the world teaching people to be drone pilots. That is how she met Todd. Todd was one of her students. A month or so ago she flew to Dubai to teach their police department how to pilot their drones. This week she is flying to Hawaii to do some training. We had a little talk about drones and she is very technically competent when it comes flying them and how they communicate. I was very impressed.

And here they are. A very nice couple if you ask me but I’m a little biased.

To continue, she is also in to all the stuff Todd is into. We went shooting and she is very proficient with both hand guns and rifle. Although I was a little disappointed that she didn’t like my Barretta over the Glock. But each their own. She also helped clean them as well so she is not afraid to get her hands dirty.

On Sunday evening before the Super Bowl I took them to the Bonzi Japanese Steakhouse with Julie, Mike and the grand kids.

Here we are at the Bonzi Steakhouse. Yea, I should have zoomed in but I was using my phone. So this is all you get.

And here are the grand kids I thought this was the epitome of characterization. There is Chloe eating, Carter hamming it up and Shelby on her phone.

Last but not least we always have to get a family portrait when everyone is together.

Last but not least, Kathy had not been feeling well. Probably hasn’t been since the kids all came. I finally got her to go get checked out and she does indeed have an ear infection. Just running her little legs off.

Well again, I apologize for being so late but everything around here gets put on a priority list. As always, hope this finds you safe and health. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
