Week Ending 2/14/26

A quiet end to a very busy period……………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

2/8/26 – Sunday – Up around 8AM. Todd gave Mary and I a lesson on cleaning the AR. Of course with his OCD everything had to be spotless so it took us most of the morning. Kathy cleaned up more dishes from last night. We all had a lite lunch. Todd and Mary started doing their laundry in the afternoon then we all went to the Bonsai Japanese Steakhouse and sat at the hibachi grill for dinner. All had a good time and the food was great. I came home and the rest of the crew went to Mike and Julie’s to watch the Super Bowl game. I came home and slept. They came home around 11PM.

2/9/26 – Monday – Up around 8AM. Todd and Mary got ready to go. We left for the airport around 10AM. Dropped them off then Kathy and I went to Country Mart for some groceries. Home and lunch. We were both tired and Kathy didn’t feel good so she took some medicine and we slept most of the afternoon. Up for a snack and usual evening routine.

2/10/26 – Tuesday – Up around 9AM. Got caught up on some emails and computer work. Got cleaned up and dressed and into work around 12:30 for a special hearing. Done by 3PM. Home, changed and over to Shelbyville for a PT appointment. Home, dinner and usual evening routine.

2/11/26 – Wednesday – Up around 9AM. Downstairs and got caught up on some reading and computer work. Had lunch and back downstairs. Kathy was off to a doctor’s appointment and I started cleaning off the work bench. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Usual evening routine.

2/12/26 – Thursday – Up around 8AM. Down to Taylorsville for my annual VR training. Stopped on the way home for a hair cut. Home and got out of my uniform. Had lunch then headed into St. Matthews for my appointment with pain and spine management. Found out I couldn’t get another epidural until after 3 months. But I also found out they give the knee shots so I should be getting a call for an appointment to get the gel injected in my knee. That should be good. Got home and Kathy and I went to Hometown Pizza for dinner. A quick stop at Country Mart for bologna and flowers for Kathy. Home and usual evening routine.

2/13/26 – Friday – Up around 8AM. Cleaned up and over for my PT appointment at 10:30. Stopped at the bank and to get the truck washed on the way home. Stopped for Valentine and Anniversary cards. Had a late lunch. In for a nap. Slept till almost dinner. Up and dinner. Usual evening routine.

2/14/26 – Saturday – Up around 8AM. Gave Kathy her Valentine’s day card. Spent most of the day in the shack cleaning up the workbench. Did manage to get my Allstar node back up and running without noise. Had a break for lunch and dinner. Otherwise usual evening.

Now the particulars:

As I said last blog, Todd and Mary spent most of Sunday doing laundry and getting packed to go home. I took Todd and Mary as well as Mike, Julie and the grand kids to the Bonzai Japanese Steakhouse. We had a great time then I came home and everyone else went to Julie and Mike’s to watch the Super Bowl. Monday we took them to the airport and dropped them off around noon.

Monday, Kathy started to now feel well. She thought she just had a cold and wouldn’t go get looked at till I finally convinced her Friday. Low and behold she had an ear infection so she got some antibiotics and is now feeling much better.

Had to work briefly Tuesday. Had a suppression hearing that started at 1PM and was done by 3PM. That was all the actual work I did this week.

Had my VR annual training on Thursday this week. It is really a cool experience. It is a virtual reality system that let’s you participate in a scenario that the computer gives you. You have a special gun and tazer and the computer can tell when and where you shoot. You can also communicate with your dispatcher as well. I guess I scored OK. They didn’t fire me. I didn’t shoot any good guys. I got blown up once and shot once. But I got two active shooters in a school with only one student getting shot. Got a guy in custody that was driving a stolen car. Intervened in a physic situation in a college library and peacefully talked that guy down and got him in custody so I’d say I did OK.

Thursday I also went to my appointment at Commonwealth Pain and Spine Management. Since I said my epidural was about 60 to 65 percent effective, I can’t get another round till after 3 months. If I fall below 50 percent I can get it sooner but I’m not going to lie just to get another shot. I told them about my knee and that I was going to try and get an appointment with my orthopedic doctor to get another shot and I was told they give the shots there and the PA that takes care of me ordered that so I should be getting a call next week to go get that done. Hopefully that will help with the PT. The PT had been working but I’m still not back to normal.

Well that’s about it for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
