Now the specifics:

I am feeling much better.  This week things improved everyday.  I’m done with the antibiotics and didn’t have much in the way of side effects.  Still it was good to get done with them.  By the end of the week I was pretty much back to my usual self.  Sleeping through the night.  I’m a little stuff when I first get up in the morning but I’ve been using Afrin nose spray and Robitussin to break up the congestion in my chest.

Kathy on the other hand went to the doctor’s this week and was given the same antibiotic.  She only got 500mg instead of the 750mg a day I got.  Her joints are bothering her which is a known side effect.  But she seems to be improving as well.

As of Friday most of the school systems around here are closed.  Puts a lot of people in a panic looking for sitters for their kids.  Fortunately the girl that watched them this summer is going to college but her facility was closed and she will do her work online from home.  So, she agreed to keep the kids two days a week and Kathy will do the other three.  I don’t know what families are doing that don’t have these kind of resources.  Fortunately they will do distant learning during the 2 school weeks they are off so they won’t have to make them up.

And out of many bad situations always comes some good.  In Spencer county, the bus drivers have teamed up with the kitchen staff and they will be preparing food in the school and the bus drivers will be delivering it to the families on their bus routes.  Many kids around here depend on the breakfast and lunch that is provided by the school so this will keep them from going hungry during this time.

I wrapped up tax stuff this weekend and will deliver it to the CPA this week.  I had an issue with one of my LOSAP programs.  I am in two programs, one for the ambulance corp and one for the fire department.  To cover the taxes on some of my investments it was an easy thing to just have them withhold half my distribution from both these programs for Federal income tax.  This week I got a notice from the administrator of the Ambulance Corp program that said the IRS had notified them that they could only hold a maximum of 24%.  So they sent me a corrected 1099 and refunded me the additional with-holding.  I called the administrator and got a recording and asked for a call back but haven’t gotten one yet.  I called the administrator for the Fire Department plan and he said he was aware that was happening but had not received anything from the IRS and he had not gotten any supporting documentation from the Ambulance Corp administrator that he had asked for.  So, I think the Ambulance Corp administrator is screwed up.  Either way It won’t affect me any.  I hid the money away so if I’m short it will be there.  Just another little challenge in the big picture.

The Coronavirus is now a big thing.  Less proliferated with a much lower mortality rate than the H1N1 but because Trump is President the news media is exploiting the hell out of it.  I understand there needs to be some things done to stop it’s proliferation.  Don’t have big group meetings, holding off school is not a bad idea, but for God sake, we don’t need to rape the stores of toilet paper and other things.  This is a respiratory thing, has nothing to do with your ass.  Only the people that are full of shit need to stock up on toilet paper.

Kathy and I have been out shopping and the stores are very low on everything.  I can understand the food.  People that normally go to work in the morning and put the kids on a school bus are now going to be home and need to prepare meals for the kids.  That makes sense.  But so much of this other crap is stupid.  Julie saw a woman go off the deep end because the cashier touched his face.  He settled her down by using a dab of hand sanitizer.  Then she of course paid with her credit card touching all the keys on the keypad.  People just have no common sense.

OK, if I keep going this will turn into an enormous soap box blog.  I don’t want to do that.  I’ll just leave you with a few words of advice.  Be careful.  Stay out of large crowds.  Hand washing and the usual hygiene are more important than ever.  Don’t succumb to all the hype and hysteria.  Try to keep your hands away from your face.  If you do start to feel bad in anyway seek medical attention immediately.  That’s all you need to do.  Everything will be fine.

OK, that’s it for this week.  Hope this finds everyone well.  Please stay that way.  Blog at you again next week.
