Not a bad week…………………………..
As always, first the chronology:
4/5/20 – Sunday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routing. Downstairs to do the blog. Back upstairs to help Kathy get things ready for dinner this evening and to clean and get the barbeque ready. Mike, Julie and the grand children came over to check on their elderly parents/grandparents. Since they were already here we had burgers, dogs and brats on the grill along with potato salad and beans all followed by some good desserts. The tribe left and I went downstairs for the 2 meter net. Did computer updates. Upstairs and studied Python awhile. Then bed, TV and sleep.
4/6/20 – Monday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Checked the bands and made some phone calls. Ordered material to do maintenance on Kathy’s Golf cart. Had lunch then out on the motorycle. Home and gave it a bath. In and down to Taylorsville to pick up Mexican food for dinner. Home and ate. Downstairs to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Computer updates. Upstairs, chores, to bed, TV and sleep.
4/7/20 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Downstairs and played radio awhile, made some phone calls and sent some emails. Up for lunch then out on the motorcycle. Took Gary’s stuff back to him then a little ride. Felt guilty that Kathy was home working so I came back to the house. Helped her clean up a few things and into the house. Laid down for a nap but Todd called so only slept about 10 minutes. Had dinner, downstairs to chat with Gary on the radio. Did computer updates. Upstairs to play with the Amazon Firestick. Bed, Big Bang and sleep.
4/8/20 – Wednesday – Up a little early today and usual morning routine. Kathy was up and out to watch the grand kids today and woke me as she was getting ready. I did some chores then downstairs and did some banking things. Then studied my Python course the majority of the day. Took time out for lunch and to call some folks I hadn’t talk to in awhile. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Downstairs to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Computer updates. Up to bed, Big Bang, A little studying and sleep.
4/9/20 – Thurssday – Up a little early today and usual morning routine. Stripped the bed and started a load of laundry. Then into J-town to pick up some medication. Back down to Taylorsville to Country Mart to pick up some Tylenol and milk. Home and continued with the laundry, cleaning up the kitchen and studying Python. Kathy was up early and out to babysit the grand kids. She came home and we had dinner. Downstairs and chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Upstairs to bed, computer updates, Big Bang, some more Python work and sleep.
4/10/20 – Friday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Did some chores in the house till it got warm enough around 10 to go out and start the yard work. Took a break for lunch and finished up around 3:30PM. Not a bad job this time. And it was cool enough we didn’t break a sweat. Inside and relaxed awhile. Cleaned up and had dinner. In to bed and worked on my Python course till Kathy came to bed then sleep.
4/11/20 – Saturday – Up at the usual time and usual mornig routine. Kathy went shopping and up to Julie’s to pick up something. I did chores around the house and continued work on my Python course. Kathy came home. I helped her unload groceries and put things away. Had lunch then downstairs to continue my studies. Up for dinner and back down to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Computer updates, more Python studying. Upstairs to bed, Big Bang and sleep.
Now the specifics:
Did the yard work Friday. Uneventful day. Was easy work and it was cool so we didn’t even break a sweat.
Got out on the Motorcycle twice this week. Monday for over 110 mile and Tuesday for around 75 mile. With people staying home the roads are very light with traffic which makes it great for riding.
Megexcel shut down early this week with a thermal overload. So I didn’t start it back up and am still waiting on the fan.
A fellow I used to work with in security posted on Linkin that NYS was reinstating people’s EMT certification if it lapsed within the last 5 years. I have no idea why they would do that but I filled in the form and am waiting to find out what that is all about.
I’m still working on learning Python. It’s a great language but is very complex. Many things to remember. But I’ll get it sooner or later.
Now to the important stuff. It’s obvious the models that the CDC, WHO and health departments were looking at are wrong. This thing is not as bad as was predicted. We are now at a plateau as was predicted by Dr. Knut Wittkowski. Here is an excerpt from an interview with him:
Knut Wittkowski, previously the longtime head of the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design at the Rockefeller University in New York City, said in an interview with the Press and the Public Project that the coronavirus could be “exterminated” if we permitted most people to lead normal lives and sheltered the most vulnerable parts of society until the danger had passed.
Bottom line what he said was that if we let it run it’s course, protecting those most vulnerable, it would pass through the population with little effect on most people, would peak and be gone. As it is now we have hit a plateau that will last longer and probably kill more people.
It was also published that doctors in New York City treated their high risk patients with a cocktail of medication that treated the COVID-19 without side affects and/or hospitalization. The article read:
Dr. Ryan Saadi, of Quantaira Health, partnered with Dr. Muhammad Alam and Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad at Plainview Hospital using the much-talked-about hydroxychloroquine combined with the antibiotic doxycycline.
So, we have these facts staring us in the face and what do we do about it. Well the problem is the “Knee jerk” reaction our politicians have taken. Based on miss-information they have essentially shut down our economy for no reason at all. Sweden hasn’t done the mass social distancing that we’ve done and although the numbers indicate a little over 7% death rate, it is believed that is because they are not testing anyone. If they were that number would be significantly less.
I just wish the politicians could own up to the facts and admit they made a mistake. They made judgements based on the information they had at the time and now want to fix it and get things back to normal. That is not to say the people over 55 or those with underlying problems shouldn’t continue to protect themselves. It just means that we should let those who are healthy get back to work so we don’t ruin everyone’s life for no reason.
Of course that is not going to happen since they now realize how easy it is to manipulate the population. However, that is being challenged as well. Churches in the Louisville area were planning drive in Easter services and our governor and the mayor of Louisville said they couldn’t do that. So the church took them to court and won. So there is an up and coming push back on some of this stuff.
I just wish the rest of the people would start waking up and use their brains. Instead of complaining about people trying to lead normal lives, start evaluating how much you can get back to normal and do it. Don’t listen to social or mass media. Look up the information for yourself and use your head. Don’t be a puppet.
OK, sorry, I swore early in this game I wouldn’t get on my soap box. But I did. Again, perhaps I should relegate all this ranting to it’s own post. I’ll see about that later.
On the other hand, if this thing ends, what am I going to have to blog about?
OK, enough for this week. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. And please keep yourselves together emotionally. Do what you must on a day to day basis and as a very close friend of mine reminded me “Put on your big girl panties and deal with it”.
Hugs to all my readers and I’ll blog at you again next week.
