Week Ending 7/10/21

Not a super eventful week……………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

7/4/21 – Sunday – Up a little late this morning.  Cleaned up and out to church.  Home and cooked burgers, dogs and brats on the grill for us and the Rice family.  Spent time with Carter starting to put together his Tesla coil.  They left and I did the blog.  Kathy and I went to Lowes and Walmart for shopping.  Stopped at Cattleman’s Roadhouse for a light dinner.  Home and usual evening routine.

7/5/21 – Monday – Up a little late this morning.  Chores and cleaned up.  Out with Kathy and Rusty to Duffy’s Dog Training School in Jeffersonville, IN.  Got an hour presentation and demonstration.  Kathy liked them so we booked training with them.  Got home a little after 2PM.  Got the truck cleaned up since Rusty decided to throw up on the trip.  Went to the local Mexican restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner.  Home and took a nap.  Usual evening routine.

7/6/21 – Tuesday – Up early with the dogs.  Kathy was out for a routine appointment.  Took care of some business on the computer and made phone calls.  Kathy came home and we had lunch.  Spent most of the afternoon in the shack working on various things.  Took a nap.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

7/7/21 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time.  Out to do work outside including spraying weeds coming up in the driveways and spraying bugs.  Cleaned up and over to Shepardsville for lunch at Denny’s.  A stop at Feeder Supply then to KOA to scope it out.  Up to Walmart and the other Feeder Supply.  Home, dinner and usual evening routine.

7/8/21 – Thursday – Up early and out to pick up Gary to get our hair cuts this morning.  Got home around 10:30.  Kathy went up to pick up all the grand children.  They didn’t go to camp today because Shelby wasn’t feeling well and Carter had a rash.  Chloe just didn’t want to be there anyway so she stayed home as well.  So, I spent most of the day with my grandson.  Finished up the Tesla Coil project but it’s not working the way I expected.  So I need to do some fine tuning.  Took a nap this afternoon as I didn’t sleep well in the family room last night.  Usual evening routine.

7/9/21 – Friday – Up a little early today.  Chores till 10AM then outside for yard work.  Finished up around 3PM.  Cleaned up and met the Rice family at Milano’s for dinner.  Stop at Country Mart on the way home.  Usual evening routine.

7/10/21 – Saturday – Up a little late this morning.  A rainy day so stayed inside and worked on things in the shack.  Kathy had a vet appointment for Rusty.  Otherwise an uneventful day.  Usual evening routine.

Now for the specifics:

I bought a Tesla coil kit that was on clearance where I normally buy components. Last Sunday we had some time so I helped Carter get started putting it together.

We finished it up on Thursday. I was not pleased with the results so I need to do some trouble shooting.

Kathy and I took Rusty over to Duffy’s dog school in Jeffersonville, IN on Monday. I think Kathy realized that we are not equipped to train a dog that’s a puppy. We had a noon appointment and we were given a 1 hour presentation on what they did and how they trained the animal. The girl that gave the session took Rusty for a few minutes and had him behaving himself in no time. Kathy and I were both impressed. So we made arrangements for him to stay 4 days for their school then Kathy and I go up and get a one hour lesson on how to continue his training. It’s rather cheap really when you consider how much we paid for the dog. But it’s 45 minutes to an hour drive depending on traffic. That’s why we opted to let him over there for the week rather than drive back and forth. Only time will tell how this turns out.

Kathy decided it would be nice to take the grand kids somewhere for the night and have a cook out and do outdoors things. So, I found a KOA campground rather close and we visited them to see what they had to offer. They had cabins that were well equipped along with swimming pool, hiking trails, places to build a campfire, Etc. But Julie and I were successful in convincing her that it would be the same if they just came over and stayed. I could build a temporary fire pit and we have the swimming pool here. If they want to go hiking we can go up to Taylorsville lake and hike there. Anyway, Kathy got in a huff and threw the information away for the KOA campgrounds. I can never win.

Wednesday night was not a good one for the dogs. They would not settle down and Kathy wasn’t moving toward taking them out of the room. So I went downstairs and slept in the family room. Not comfortable at all. Thursday was a long day.

We got a call Thursday morning that Shelby didn’t feel well and Carter had a rash. They didn’t want to go to camp and Chloe didn’t want to go anyway. So we ended up having them all at our house for the day. Nothing exciting on that front. Whatever was ailing Shelby disappeared by afternoon and the rash on Carter disappeared. Chloe’s attitude will just have to go away over time. Friday they had the chance to stay home with their father but all three decided to go back to camp.

Friday we did the yard work as it looks like we are in for a week of unsettled weather. Not a bad job this week. Afterward we came in to get cleaned up and our son-in-law called and wanted to try out the new Italian restaurant on Westport road. So we went up there and met them a little after 5PM. Food was good and plentiful and everyone but Chloe enjoyed it.

That’s it for this week. Next week looks a little busier but time will tell.

Hope this finds everyone well and safe. Stay that way. Blog at you again next week.
