Week Ending 3/5/22

Hold on, this may be a long one………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

2/27/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Chores around the house and cleaned up and out to church.  Home and lunch.  Spent the afternoon doing the blog and trying to get things cleaned up in the shack.  Took a nap and dinner.  Usual evening routine.

2/28/22 – Monday – Up at the usual time.  Spent most of the morning organizing papers on my desk.  Then started collecting tax papers.  Had lunch then up to the bank to pick up tax papers there.  Stopped at Kroger where Kathy returned an item and picked up a prescription.  I ran the truck through the car wash to get the worst of the dirt off.  Then home.  Continued working on the taxes.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

3/1/22 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time.  Did the first of the month chores checking furnace filter among other things.  Then downloaded some more supporting documentation for the taxes.  Kathy was out getting her hair done.  I told her I would like to have an early lunch but she thought shopping in Taylorsville was more important so I went out to the shop and started detailing the outside of the truck.  Spent 3 hours on it.  Inside and some computer work.  Dinner and usual evening routine.  Early to bed tonight with an 8:15AM doctor’s appointment tomorrow.

3/2/22 – Wednesday – Up early this morning and out for a doctor’s appointment at 8:15AM.  Home and downloaded and printed the last of the support documents I need for the taxes.  Made some additional appointments for vaccinations that the doctor said I needed and to get my eyes checked.  Lunch then out on the motorcycle for awhile.  Home, put things away and a nap before dinner.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

3/3/22 – Thursday – Up a little early, cleaned up and out to pick up Gary and go get our hair cuts.  Dropped Gary back home around 10AM and came home to finish getting paperwork together for taxes.  Finished about 2PM and went back over to Gary’s to fix his remote issue.  No problem found.  No idea what he was doing wrong.  Home and did more annual paperwork for our investments in New York.  Picked up Chinese takeout for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

3/4/22 – Friday – Up a little early for no reason.  Guess I had all my sleep done early.  Got cleaned up and out to drop off the paperwork to the tax man then over to Kroger for a tetanus shot and up to Office Depot to pick up some printer paper.  Home and put the paper away.  Made an appointment to get the maintenance done on the motorcycle.  Had lunch.  Out to the shop to finish up detailing the inside of the truck.  Then blew out the carburetor on the power washer and got that started.  Inside for a short nap.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

3/5/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and out to my daughter’s place.  Did some chores there and helped the kids out.  Home a little after lunch time and got a call from another member of the church.  Had to fix the pastor’s portable microphone.  Messed up the alarm system in the mean time and got a visit from the Kentucky State Police.  Kathy came home and we had burgers and dogs on the grill.  Usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

Bottom line, the week was spent recovering from our trip to New York and getting the annual stuff down that I would have been working on had I not gone to New York.

I spent a lot of time starting Monday and through Thursday getting all the paperwork together for the taxes. I could just dump it into a box but then I’d be paying them to sort through it all and total things. So I do that for deductions like donations, taxes, vehicle registration, etc. Then I put a cover sheet on it listing new or different things since last year like refinancing the mortgage and some new investments Kathy made. Then I deliver it and he plugs all the numbers into the correct places on the computer and the result is my return for federal and state income tax. And it usually doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg.

Spent about 3 hours on Tuesday and about the same on Friday cleaning up the truck. I can’t believe how many dings and scratches are in that thing. I also have a panel that the retaining mechanism apparently broke on behind the driver’s seat. I’ll have the people where I take it for maintenance take a look at that.

Had a doctor’s appointment Wednesday morning. I had the blood work done the week before I went to New York so I already knew things were good. He confirmed my evaluation but did mention I was due for a Tetanus shot. So I made arrangements to get that Friday since it was in the same area where I dropped off the tax papers.

Wednesday was a great day weather wise so I decided to let everything else go and took a motorcycle ride. Only out a couple hours and only did approximately 80 mile but it was a good feeling. Definitely adjusted my attitude in a positive manner. I also made arrangements to have it serviced next week. Hope the weather holds out and is good Tuesday. I don’t mind cold and I don’t mind wet, but not together.

Weather was nice again Saturday here so we decided to do hot dogs and burgers on the grill. Of course the birds decided to start building a nest in the grill so we had to clean that out. Got things all nice and clean and started cooking only to run out of propane. So we finished cooking inside and I’ll put a new propane cylinder on it next week.

That’s about it for what’s happened to me personally. Now for a little rant:

My heart goes out to the people of the Ukraine. I have always believed that Putin was a very intelligent man but I am afraid he has lost his mind lately. I have no idea why he decided to invade the Ukraine other than what I read which in my humble opinion is very far fetched. Not one part of it makes any sense to me. I just don’t understand. Mr. Putin has lost all my respect and frankly I’m glad there is now a price on his head.

Only slightly less of a tragedy is the lack of action on the part of our government. All these sanctions amount to no more than a slap on the wrist of Putin. If we had a President with any intestinal fortitude we would have just bombed the hell out of the forces waiting to invade. Our lack of action in my opinion is a travesty. We have become the laughing stock on the international arena. Sad, very sad indeed.

Well gas is now at the $4.00 a gallon mark. I’d like to thank all you Biden supporters. Oh yes, if you listen to the rhetoric it’s all a supply and demand issue. With the COVID ramping down and people returning to their normal life styles they are using more gas driving the price up. Well, if you really believe that crap, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. I’ll even print up certificates of authenticity and send them to you over the internet. Because we all know if it’s off the internet it must be true. ROFL. Personally, I would rather have some mean tweets right now with an XL pipe line delivering gas.

OK, that’s all for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Blog at you again next week.

  1. More Mean Tweets! Let’s get into reality where feelings being hurt is part of life, and we will give everyone a pacifier that doesn’t understand that this is what reality looks like. It’s not about your feelings. $4.60 by us on Saturday, and literally rising every day. But yes, let’s keep the pipeline closed, let’s continue to print tons of money because you think you can, and having nothing backing, making the value of a dollar crap, and the value of everything else go up. And it’s sad, because there are people who truly believe the rhetoric that people are back to work, supply and demanded, yata yata ya. GMAFB.

Don’t get me started about Biden. People have got to know that if Trump was still president this crap would not be happening. But most people in this world are idiots. Everything Biden does or doesn’t do, affects not only the US, but the entire world.
