Not a bad week……………………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

5/28/23 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy.  Home and lunch.  Down to do the blog.  Then out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together.  Back to the house, picked up Kathy and over to Cattleman’s Roadhouse for dinner.  Home and usual evening routine.

5/29/23 – Monday – Up at the usual time.  Out to run errands.  Home and helped get things ready for the tribe to arrive.  They got here a little before noon.  Had a great lunch.  Mike and Chloe went home early.  Julie, Carter and Shelby stayed and helped get the pool uncovered.  They took off, we had a snack for dinner then usual evening routine.

5/30/23 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time.  Down to the shack and ordered a new battery for the motorcycle.  Then out to work on the pool.  In for lunch, back out and worked some more on the pool and tilled the garden.  In, cooled down, cleaned up and dinner.  Usual evening routine.

5/31/23 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time.  Kathy was up and out early to watch the grand children.  I did some things in the shack and had lunch.  Then out to do more cleaning on the pool.  Kathy came home while I was doing that.  Then cleaned up the things in the shop and put them back away.  Julie came over around 5PM and picked up Shelby.  We had dogs on the grill for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

6/1/23 – Thursday – Slept in a little today.  Got cleaned up and we went into the pool supply place for chemicals and supplies for the pool.  Then to Shelbyville and picked up plants, chemicals and paint things.  Stopped at Cattleman’s Steakhouse for a late lunch.  Home and unloaded things.  Did a paint inventory and I did some more clean up in the shop.  Over to the house and setup to attend a class on Zoom.  Had dinner.  The new battery came for the motorcycle so after I talked to Gary on the radio I went to the shop and put that in the motorcycle.  Back to the house and usual evening routine.

6/2/23 – Friday – Up at the usual time.  Kathy was already out to watch the grand children.  I got cleaned up and out to gas up the truck and to Lowes for some deck stain.  Home, put things away and out on the motorcycle.  Stopped at Hooters for lunch and a couple watering holes before coming home.  Kathy came home and we had dinner.  To bed early.

6/3/23 – Saturday – Up a little early today.  KY QSO contest started at 9AM.  Spent the day in front of the radios.  Nothing else exciting today.

Now the specifics:

Monday was the big holiday so the Rice family came over for lunch. Mike and Chloe left early and Julie, Shelby and Carter stayed to help get the cover off the pool. Food was great and of course there’s nothing better than family.

Been working on the pool all week. First at getting the crap off the bottom that fell in when we took the cover off. Chemistry has been screwed up so dumping copious amounts of money into it in the form of chemicals. Things are still not good. Kathy says everything is still low. Not sure how long this will last. Then I got more stain so she can re-stain the walking area. Again, not sure how long that will take. It could be weeks before the pool is ready to use.

She is now on tap to watch the grand kids several days a week. This past week it was two days and this coming week it will be three days. Then she wonders why nothing gets done around here. And of course now that she is tied up like that it won’t be easy planning a trip anywhere. I just don’t get it.

I did manage to get the garden tilled on Tuesday. Still nothing planted. What can I say.

Ordered a new battery for the motorcycle. When I had problems I noticed it hadn’t been changed in 5 years. It’s a gel cell so it should be replaced every 3 to 5 years. I ordered it Tuesday and it got here Thursday. Thursday evening I put it in. Then Friday took it for a ride. New battery and new tires. It rode like a new bike. Very pleased with the new service place. I put a total of 82.6 miles on it. Of course I stopped at Hooter’s for lunch and a couple watering holes on the ride. But getting very hot riding then going into air conditioned places I think I got a bit of a cold. Small price to pay.

Saturday was the Kentucky QSO party. It’s essentially an exercise to see how many counties in the state you can talk to. Of course people outside the state of Kentucky as well as outside the United States also participate. Last year I only got 9 contacts for a total of around 250 points. This year I made over 60 contacts for a point score over 1700. So I would say it was successful. I quit in time to check into the CW Traffic net at 9PM. A good day playing radio.
