Another rather busy week……………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

7/2/23 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy.  Home and lunch.  Down to the shack to do the blog and practice CW.  Upstairs for a short nap then out to Lowes for some stuff to kill the Grub Worms to try and get rid of the moles.  Then to the Longhorn Steakhouse.  Stopped at Kroger on the way home for some groceries.  Home and unloaded.  Put the truck away.  Usual evening routine.

7/3/23 – Monday – Up at the usual time.  Kathy took off to get the grand kids.  I got cleaned up and went to the shack to practice code.  Then played radio working the 13 colonies special event stations.  Kathy called on her way down Taylorsville road and wanted me to meet them at Dairy Queen for lunch.  Back home and worked some more 13 colonies stations.  Mike (my son-in-law) called and wanted to take us out to Olive Garden for dinner.  So around 4:30 we went up there and had dinner. Home with Shelby who is staying the night again.  Otherwise, usual evening routine.

7/4/23 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time.  Shelby didn’t get up in time for a big breakfast so I had my usual.  Got cleaned up and shucked corn with Shelby.  Helped Kathy get things together in preparation for the tribe to come for lunch.  Julie, Mike, and the grand kids were here along with a mutual friend from Carmel that now lives in the area named Christine.  I did the cooking on the grill.  Then the ladies went swimming while Mike and I sat on the deck enjoying the weather.  Mike left and the ladies got out of the pool.  Closed things up and inside.  A bunch played cards and I retired to the shack to play radio.  Everyone was gone by 4PM.  Kathy and I took a nap.  Up for a snack for dinner.  Then the usual evening routine.

7/5/23 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time.  Breakfast and over to get the D170 and spreader.  Came back to the house and read the bag of grub worm killer and you have to water it after applying.  So we gave up on that as there is no rain in the forecast.  Took the D170 and spreader back to the Morton building.  Brought the truck over to the house.  Got cleaned up and practiced a little code.  Then lunch and over to see Gary at the rehab facility.  Back home and put the truck away.  Had a snack and practiced more code.  Up for dinner and usual evening routine.

7/6/23 – Thursday – Up a little early today.  Out to clean the church.  Home and lunch then out to do the yard work.  Didn’t finish till a little after 4PM.  Still have some odds and ends to cleanup tomorrow.  Kathy was tired so we ordered pizza to be delivered by Papa Johns.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

7/7/23 – Friday – Up at the usual time.  Out and finished up trimming I didn’t get to yesterday.  Sprayed weeds, cleaned up Morton building a little and did the engine routine maintenance on Kathy’s Zero Turn mower.  Inside and lunch.  Cleaned up and out to see Gary.  Back home and did chores around the house till Kathy got home.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

7/8/23 – Saturday – Up a little early today.  Wanted to be ready for a zoom class at 9AM.  Did that and usual Saturday morning chores.  Then out to the Morton building and got the spreader to put down some bug killer.  Inside and lunch.  Cleaned up and out to Kroger for some groceries.  Home and put things away.  Played radio till dinner.  Usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

The week started off good. Monday, Kathy went over to watch the grand kids and brought them over to our neck of the woods at lunch time. Had lunch with the tribe at Dairy Queen. Then home and the kids helped Kathy make pies, etc in preparation for the July 4th festivities. Our son-in-law called and invited us out to Olive Garden for dinner so we took the kids up there. We brought Shelby back with us because she likes to stay over at our house.

Tuesday morning we had a light breakfast because Shelby didn’t get up in time for a big breakfast. Then Shelby and I shucked corn. The tribe came over for lunch. Had burgers, dogs and brats on the grill with corn on the cob and a lot of pies. A good time was had by all.

I managed to make it over to see Gary twice this week, Wednesday and Friday. He has his ups and downs. Some days are good and others are not so good. I’m not sure he has the right people looking after him but there is nothing I can do about that. I try to get over as often as possible but it’s very depressing. I feel for the guy but there is little I can do to help.

For whatever reason we decided to get all the work done in one day this week. Out to clean the church on Thursday morning then yard work Thursday afternoon. Ran out of steam before it all got done so had to go out and do some cleanup Friday morning.

I have been keeping up with my code practice. It is coming along very slow but sure. I guess I’m just too impatient. But I am seeing areas of improvement where I can copy that I wasn’t able to in the past. Just one step at a time.

Talked to my buddy Jim from PA this week. He’s doing well and they were going to go camping this week. We got invited to Assateaque to stay with them again this year. I agreed and we are just waiting for them to call and give us some good dates. That will be in September.

Been working on the new IC-7300 this week. Getting the urge to take it out to the park and do a POTA activation. Need to find a nice padded box to transport it in.

Well that’s about it for this week. Kathy will be traveling up to New York this coming week. Plans on staying with Todd then going up to a celebration of marriage for one of our relatives. I decided to stay away from that drama. Too many people I don’t like or have time for. But I’m sure she will enjoy the trip. I’ll stay home and take care of the dogs.
