Week Ending 10/12/24

A busy week but not bad……………………………………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

10/6/24 – Sunday – Up at 8AM. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Down to work on the blog. Got it all written but ran out of time. Over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home and out to Craft Pizza for dinner. Home and chores. Down to the shack and proof read the blog and published it. Otherwise usual evening routine.

10/7/24 – Monday – Up at 7AM. Got cleaned up and out for breakfast. Made the “Over the Hill” net. After breakfast was out to Shelbyville and the hospital for my CT Scan. Back home by 10:30. Did computer work till time for lunch. Kathy was off to take Shelby to the eye doctor. I took off shortly after 1PM for Tire Discounters to get the tire pressure sensors replaced in Kathy’s car. Took longer than I expected but was back home by 3:30 or so. Continued with the computer work till Kathy got home. Helped her unload the car. Had dinner then usual evening routine.

10/8/24 – Tuesday – Up at 6AM and out to work. Opened the court room at 8 and court convened at 8:30. All done by 11 AM. Went to the office and filled in time sheet then home. Dressed down, had lunch and out to do yard work. Kathy started about 10:30. Had to go get gas first. Finished up and in the house by 3PM. Nap, up for dinner. Then off to Shelbyville for a HAM club meeting. Otherwise, usual evening routine.

10/9/24 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the handicap door at the main court room today. Started at 8AM and finished up around 3:30PM with a few minutes off at lunch to grab a bite. Home and did burgers on the grill for dinner. Usual evening routine.

10/10/24 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and in to start work at 7:30AM. Worked the door from 7:30AM to 4PM with an hour off for lunch. Kathy wasn’t feeling well today. Got her flu shot yesterday and had the aches and things today so she stayed home from the VA. Had dinner and did some chores. Usual evening routine.

10/11/24 – Friday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Opened the court room at 8AM, court started at 8:30 and ran till 12:30. Did my time and chatted with the guys in the office and home. Had lunch then Kathy and I went over to Shelbyville to shop at Harbor Freight, Lowes and Walmart. Home and unloaded things at the house. Took the truck over to the Morton building and unloaded the stuff there. Inside and a nap before dinner. Usual evening routine.

10/12/24 – Saturday – Up very late this morning. Had breakfast and did the Saturday morning chores. Found I was due to order some medication so did that. Kathy went grocery shopping so we had a late lunch. After lunch went to the shop and worked on the chain saw, string trimmer, Vibe and painted a gas can for Ethanol free gas. Got tired around 4PM so cleaned up the shop and went inside. Had a snack and a cup of coffee. Took a nap. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

I guess everyone is aware of the devastation in the Carolinas, Tennessee, Florida and probably a few other places I’m not aware of. I have heard from most people that they are OK although some have suffered some damaged. Haven’t heard from Lynn to know about her family in Florida. All kind of stories about Geo-engineering of the storms to helicopters destroying relief supplies and all the money from FEMA going to relocate illegals. It’s just hard to believe anything these days. I hope and pray that all this is just conspiracy theories and that people wouldn’t be that nasty. But just take a look around and I guess anything is possible. In any event, I just can’t imagine how some of these people feel after losing everything. My thoughts and prayers for all involved.

Last Sunday I took the motorcycle over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. When I got home and turned the bike on to get the mileage it wouldn’t light up. I checked a few things and the only thing left is the computer. I guess I’ll call MAX BMW up in Milford, CT. and see what they can do for me. It’s an old bike and I hope the computer is still available. I’ll keep you posted.

Monday I went to the hospital over in Shelbyville and got my CT Scan. Haven’t heard anything yet so I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see what’s up with that.

Monday afternoon I took Kathy’s car to Tire Discounters and got the tire pressure sensors replaced. I had an issue last week with that and they gave me all four sensors for the price of three. So they will get more of my business now. Anyone that treats you that good deserves a break.

Tuesday morning I covered for the boss in court. Her husband was taken to the hospital with multiple problems last Friday and we have all been pitching in to cover for her. Usually she and another CSO cover Tuesdays as it’s not very busy and doesn’t last long. But I did it this week. Got home and had lunch then out for gas and then helped Kathy finish up the yard work. Not a hard job this time. Kathy managed to get her lawn mower stuck once but I’ve managed to do that so no big thing. We got it out rather easily.

Tuesday evening I went to a HAM club meeting over in Shelbyville. We had the nominations for officers this month and we will have elections next month. Everyone so far is running unopposed. We will see what happens. Based on the new officers, I think this is the beginning of the end for the club.

Wednesday was a long day. Had court from 8:30 till almost 4PM. We had Circuit Court in the morning followed by Civil Court. A short break for lunch then drug court after lunch. That will be the norm every other week for awhile now. Didn’t get much else done today.

Thursday I was on the door at the Circuit Court Clerks office. Only two people worked this week and they were busy.

Friday we had District Court in the morning that went rather quick. We were done by 12:30. Came home and changed clothes then out to Shelbyville for some shopping. Went to Harbor Freight for a case for my band pass filters and picked up a few other items that were on sale. Then to Lowes for some items including a new string trimmer. Finally to Walmart for some food shopping. Kathy picked up some ground meat to make Chile and some chicken for dinner.

Saturday I worked on loading Linux on some laptops my brother-in-law gave me. Getting them ready to give to anyone in need. This is part of the program at his church. They collect computers that people are getting rid of. The ones that are powerful enough for Windows stay there, the ones that are not powerful enough they send down to me and I load them with Linux.

After lunch I went to the shop to work on things. The check engine light came back on in the Vibe so I read those codes out and reset things. I have a couple more things to look at on that. In the mean time I was successful at replacing the ambient temperature sensor but that didn’t fix that problem. Next step there would be a computer issue. Not that interested in getting that to work.

Had multiple pieces of equipment that need work. I got the chain saw trouble shot and ordered a new carburetor and fuel filter for that. Took a quick look at the old string trimmer but not going to sink money into that as I got a new one. Got a new gas can for Ethanol free gas and painted that yellow so we know the difference. That was about it for the afternoon so I went inside, had a snack and went to bed for a nap till Kathy got home. Then we had dinner and usual evening routine.

Yep, I never got the pictures posted of Kathy’s reunion trip. lol, perhaps that is an omen.

Well that’s it for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. Hurricane Milton is in the books and no damage to report except yard confetti. Sister said they had rain and wind, but nothing like around Tampa. Storm went further south, so that helped them out. Not that you ever want someone else to be in misery, but thankful they only had yard debris! AND NOW…something else brewing in the Atlantic! NO!!!!!

Still waiting for my fence repaired and window shade screens to be replaced along with screen replacement on my patio. Everyone had damage from Hurricane Beryl here, so it is a waiting game…wait your turn!

Been working down the to-do list. Touch up painting, wash/clean up car, scheduling fall maintenance like HVAC and pest control, clean up garage, removed tree debris out of the middle of the tree that was wedged in it from the hurricane (waited until it got a little cooler than 97 degrees), clean dryer vent, pressure washed all the walkways/driveway/house/patio, washed windows. Still more on the list but most on inside of house. Almost time for me to head back to Florida…in about 2 months. Need to get things done before then.

Went to ENT last Monday to have my thyroid checked to see if nodules had grown. If you remember, they were found to be benign but need to check if any difference. ENT said she didn’t feel much, if anything, but I will have a thyroid ultrasound this Thursday to check. Fingers crossed!

Well, better get busy and get things done. Waiting to hear what they find on your CT scan. Hope it turns out okay. Till next week…stay safe and healthy!
