Now the specifics:
Lynn left a nice comment last week on what she is doing in life. If you haven’t checked it out take a look. If you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll start posting her comments here as well.
Last Sunday it was a nice day. Well, relatively speaking. No rain or snow and the temperature was warmer than it had been. So, I thought it would be a good day to put up the outside decorations so I blew off going to visit Gary and Kathy and I did the outside decorations. I think it looks rather nice.
In addition to the Christmas decorations we got more in the holiday spirit by going to the HAM club Christmas party at Cracker Barrel on Tuesday evening. Kathy and I sat with my friend Dave Mangum and his wife Ginny. We had a great time. Dave will be the president next year.
We had Advent service on Wednesday evening. Kathy made Pasta Fagioli. Everyone seemed to like it and I thought it was good. Of course we had left overs so we had it again this week.
Friday night we went to see Shelby’s Chorus Concert. It was very good. Much better than the band concerts we’ve been to. Then Mike took us out to Cheddar’s for dinner afterward.
I didn’t work too hard this week. Did a half day Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Worked the usual full day on the door Thursday. This coming week will be a little more hectic as we have Circuit Court and Drug court on Wednesday so that will probably be two full days of work. Will probably do a half day Monday and Friday with Tuesday off.
I have been trying to be more consistent with doing my physical exercises as it seems to be helping the leg issues. Still not 100% but definitely an improvement. Other than that, I seem to have this problem were around 7 or 7:30 I feel tired and want to go to bed. Then when I get there I end up watching TV till 9 or 10. I need to fix that. I hate wasting time. And beside that, I’m missing out on the CW traffic net at 9PM in the evening and I’m losing practice with my CW. Not losing ground but definitely not improving any. I still want to get my speed up to 15 WPM at least. Right now I’m doing 10 WPM at 100% and 13 WPM at about 75%.
I do have my doctor’s appointment scheduled for the 6th of January. Hopefully she can give me some guidance to getting some things resolved.
Well that’s about the story for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and well. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
I made it to Florida. Got here on Friday 12/13. Lots of traffic and construction. It is one boring trip coming across I-10. Stayed in Covington, LA on Thursday night and made it to the house by about 5 pm Friday.
Before I left, I had my dentist and doctor appointments. All is well there. No surprises! That is always a good sign when you get to be our age!
It has been warm here in Florida since I got here. Near 80 during the day and low 60s at night. Somewhat humid too! Supposedly getting a front that will cool things down…we shall see!
Getting things ready for Christmas. I wrapped presents for 12 hours over a 2 day period. My sister Diana obviously didn’t stop buying things for the grandkids. It is going to be really strange for the holidays without Denise here. Diana, Allen and I will have Christmas with their friends Mike and Nancy on Christmas Day. We celebrate with our neighbors on Friday night. On Saturday we will have Christmas with Brandon, Sara and the kids and with Earl. Earl has to work on Christmas.
Allen had his biopsy procedure for his bladder cancer on Monday and they removed the tumors they saw. Doctor said they were small and he said things looked good but, obviously need to wait on pathology results to see if they got everything. Then, they will go from there for any other treatment. CANCER SUCKS!!
Good to see the yard work doesn’t look that bad right now. Maybe I can keep up with it and I can go back to Texas earlier than planned. But…I also told Brandon and Sara I would help them clean out their garage and work on their yard.
Being here at the house has been like being at home. Earl has been working nights so I have the house to myself. That will change tomorrow…switches to days. No big deal though.
Hope you and Kathy have your shopping done for Christmas and don’t have too much running around to do. Relax and enjoy…although it sounds like you will be working a good deal of the time. Stay safe and healthy!! Till next time…
