An interesting week…………………………………………………………………………….
As always, first the chronology:
01/19/25 – Sunday – Up around 8AM. Cleaned up and out to church. Had pot luck afterward so took a couple things. Had services, business meeting then lunch. Home and dropped off Kathy. Into J-town to assist with HAM testing. Home and Kathy was taking a nap so I did the blog. Then we went down to Hometown for a light snack for dinner. A stop at Country Mart for lunch meat. Home and usual evening routine.
01/20/25 – Monday – Up around 9AM. Breakfast and chatted with Kathy. Got some things decided between the two of us. Then a short nap. Lunch and down to continue work on my laptop. Got interrupted by a phone call and was told I was going to get cleaned up and go out with the Rice family for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. That didn’t happen so we ended up at a Mexican place that wasn’t too bad. Stopped at Kroger on the way home for coffee and ice cream. Home and did some chores. Then had ice cream. Otherwise the usual evening routine.
01/21/25 – Tuesday – Up around 9AM. Continued working on getting my laptop back the way I want and started working on my Python course. Kathy went to get her hair done. Had left overs for dinner. Usual evening routine.
01/22/25 – Wednesday – Up at 8AM. Breakfast, cleaned up and out to get my hair cut at 9:30. Home and another cup of coffee. Had an early lunch as Kathy was going up to take Shelby to the doctor for a stomach problem. I made coffee and headed into my cardiology appointment. Home and chores around the house. Dinner and usual evening routine.
01/23/25 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the door to the Circuit Court Clerks office from 7:30AM to 4PM with an hour off for lunch. Home and a nap. Dinner, some chores and back to bed.
01/24/25 – Friday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Opened the court room at 8AM and court started at 8:30. All done by noon. Home and had lunch. Kathy was off to take Shelby to the doctor again. I finished lunch and went to bed. Slept from a little after 1PM to 3:30PM. Up and got dressed. Waited for Kathy. Helped her unload groceries. Then we went to the Lighthouse diner for dinner. Home and did some computer things for Kathy. Then to bed and some research. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
01/25/25 – Saturday – Up around 8:30AM. Breakfast and usual Saturday morning routine. Then down to see if the electrical box I bought would fit in the ceiling. It wouldn’t. So out to the Morton building to see if I had one in the junk box and I didn’t. Back inside and cleaned up. Down to ACE hardward and bought one that I think will work. Had lunch. then a nap. Back downstiars and it took me two hours to jerry rig the damn box to make it work. But all is done and the light fixture is back where it should be. Had dinner then usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Had to get the blog done on time this week. Last week I caught hell from my grandson since I didn’t have it published at the time he normally reads it. So I got it on time this week Carter. And speaking of him, Wednesday we will be attending a presentation at the VFW hall in J-town. Carter is being awarded a scholarship by a veterans organization. He had to write a paper for it. And interestingly, his sister did one as well but Carter won a scholarship but his sister didn’t. Perhaps he will comment on the reason for that. lol
OK, so where the hell are all the climate maniacs at now.

Here is my weather station display on Wednesday this last week. And snow in Texas and Florida. Where are the idiots now?
The reason I was late last week with the blog is that we had a business meeting at church followed by a pot luck lunch. Then I had HAM testing in J-town at 2PM. Hardly had time to do it in between those events. Then we went to Hometown Pizza for a light snack for dinner since we had a rather large meal at lunch.
I was surprised at getting 4 people to test on Sunday. 2 new folks and 2 upgrading. Everyone passed their exam so it was a successful event.
Spent time Monday and most of Tuesday getting my laptop back in working order. I got everything loaded but I now have an issue with the display flickering. It’s only when I’m running Linux so it’s not a hardware issue. Or as least I don’t think so. Perhaps on one of the subsequent updates they will enhance the video driver and fix the problem. If I have time later today or perhaps tomorrow afternoon I’ll do some research and see if anyone else is having a similar problem.
I got interrupted in my efforts with the laptop on Monday by Kathy. She was out and about and wanted to know if I wanted to join the Rice family at the Texas Roadhouse for dinner. She knows I don’t like that place but when I first turned down the offer she reminded me we had that free coupon that I got on Veterans day. Of course it’s a limited menu so it’s not all that big a deal. But it is a free meal. The kids were all off school on Monday so I anticipated the place would be crowded. Sure enough, a 30 to 40 minute wait. Chloe had to be at dance practice so we couldn’t wait that long. Ended up at a Mexican fast food place. It wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t make a special trip to go back. Anyway, all was good and we got to see everyone so that was a plus.
Wednesday I got my hair cut and went to the cardiologist. Hair cut was good but I’m not sure about the cardiology visit. Perhaps I’m spoiled by the PA I used to deal with. She, unfortunately, is moving to an office that is further away than this doctor I saw Wednesday so I guess I’m stuck with the new folks. The patient care person took more time with me than the doctor did. Got an ECG and everything was normal. And I really didn’t have any issues that needed attention. So I guess that was OK as well.
Worked my normal all day shift on Thursday and went in for District Court on Friday morning. Then had one juvenile case but we were out by noon. Went home after court on Friday and did my time report and submitted it. Took a nap and that was about the extent of the day.
Saturday I worked on the broken light fixture in the ceiling of the family room. They put plastic boxes in to support the ceiling lights but secured them with putting a drywall screw through the plastic and into a piece of wood. I don’t think the drilled the plastic so it split when they put the screw in and eventually they crack completely and the fixture ends up hanging down. I tried to get the box I need at Lowes earlier in the week but the didn’t have the correct size. I picked up one I thought would work but it didn’t. So I went down to ACE Hardware and picked up another one that I had to customize to fit. Needless to say, with the necessary customization and things not working in my favor and all being over my head, I was not a happy camper. But Kathy stayed with me and put up with all my bullshit and even got into it herself.

And I leave this hear as proof that she was deeply involved.
That is about it for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and well. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
Thanks for posting it on time this week pappy! (I won because my essay was better and because she was a little moody and decided to not take my suggestions)

Dull week here in Florida. It has finally decided to get warm. Will be in the upper 70s by next week. The annual leaf raking and outside work has begun.
Congrats Carter on the essay win!
