We had an early lunch and Kathy took off to take Chloe to the doctor for some routine visit. I spent the day getting the Raspberry Pi Zero setup with HamClock and put it on my monitor. Kathy came home and did some Valentines decorations. I worked on cleaning up the table in the kitchenette. Dinner then usual evening routine.

I tried to take a nap for better than 3 and 1/2 hours. With phone calls, text messages, dogs barking, etc. I only got about 45 minutes. We got ready and loaded the car and headed up to Olive Garden to help celebrate the twins birthday. Then of to Mike and Julies to watch the kids open their birthday presents. Home and bed.

Went to bed around 2PM and slept till 4:30PM. Did some chores around the house then a light dinner. Usual evening routine.

02/08/25 – Saturday – Up around 8:30. Did my Saturday morning routine. Kathy was off to do Julie’s hair this morning. I had some prescription issues I had to take care of. Downstairs and downloaded tax information. Knocked off a little after noon. Kathy came home and we had lunch. I went for a couple hour nap. Up and finished ordering material for my Python course. Up for dinner. Usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

The highlight this week was the twins turning 16 on Tuesday and getting their learner’s permit. They decided collectively that they wanted to go to Olive Garden for their birthday so that is what we did. Kathy made a Texas Sheet Cake for Carter and a Molly Brown Cake for Chloe. Then back to the house for them to open presents. A great evening with the family.

A friend of mine purchased a Raspberry Pi Zero and couldn’t get HamClock working on it. So he gave it to me and I loaded it up and all is good. Since it’s much smaller than the Pi 4 and obviously uses less power I opted to put it in place of the Pi 4 I was running HamClock on.

I’ve been making great strides in my relearning Python but now I’m into the math functions and those need a little more horsepower then the I5 laptop I’ve been using. So, I think I’ll give up the touch screen on the I5 for a little more power and use the I7. That will slow my progress a little on Python but will probably make up for it later.

Work was rather busy this week. I filled in for the boss on Tuesday and worked the court room for 1/2 a day. Worked all day Wednesday and Thursday. Friday we expected to work all day but the hearing in the afternoon got canceled so that turned into a half day.

Next week should be easy. I’ll go in for Family court on Monday which should be a half day. Then work the door on Thursday all day and that should be it. But one never knows. Things change in the judicial system on an hourly basis.

In the process of relearning Python, I’ve started to integrate myself into the world of AI. It is really fascinating. Perhaps one day I will let it do my blog and you can all tell me when I stop doing it and AI takes over.

Well that’s it for this week. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. Hard to believe the grandkids are 16 and now have their driving credentials! Time sure flies!

Nothing exciting happening here in Florida. It has been in mid 80s…took warm, too early! Cools off next week…then I will go outside and start some yard work!

    Stay safe, happy and healthy!
