Week Ending 6/28/25

The pressure is off but I’m still playing catch up……………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

6/22/25 – Sunday – Up at 8AM. Off to church with Kathy. Had pot luck at church for lunch. Home and chores. Off to see Gary at the afternoon get together. Home, picked up Kathy and off to Logan’s Steakhouse for dinner.

6/23/25 – Monday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the back door to the main courthouse from 8AM to 1PM. Home, changed, had lunch and out to start mowing. Mowed for about 3 hours and between Kathy and I we got it all done except for the trimming. Inside, cooled down, had dinner and usual evening routine.

6/24/25 – Tuesday – Up around 9AM. Breakfast and dressed. Out to start the trimming. Worked till about 2PM. In for a late lunch. Got cooled down and took a nap. Up for a shower. Then dinner. Usual evening routine.

6/25/25 – Wednesday – Up at 7AM. Guy came to routine the Generac. Kathy took the dogs to the groomer. When the guy was done with the Generac we took a nap till lunch. They called and said the dogs were done so Kathy went down to get them and I got things out for lunch. Then down to the shack and started reconfiguring everything for the new LAN switch I installed yesterday. Up for some chores around the house and dinner. Usual evening routine.

6/26/25 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and into work. Manned the door to the circuit court clerks office from 7:30AM to 4PM with an hour off for lunch. Got gas in the truck on the way home. Had frozen dinners. Usual evening routine.

6/27/25 – Friday – Up at 6AM and into work. Worked in Circuit Court from 8AM to 11AM. Stopped at the office on my way out of town to see boss. Stopped at Animal Control to see if the wife was ready for lunch. She wasn’t so I stopped at Country Mart for some things then stopped to see Faith to see if you had time to cut my hair next week. Then home and lunch. Took a nap then up and loaded my radio stuff in the truck for Field Day tomorrow. Had dinner and usual evening routine.

6/28/25 – Saturday – Up at 8AM. Cleaned up and over to Red Orchard Park for Field Day. I helped with some things but I was getting ready to lose my temper so when it started to rain around 3PM I left. Got home, cleaned up and took Kathy out to Hometown Pizza for dinner. Home, unloaded radio stuff, put the truck away and usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

The pressure is off but I’m still getting caught up on things. Spent time Monday and Tuesday doing yard work but could not spend a lot of time out there. Kathy started the work Monday morning but I didn’t get back to help her till after lunch. We got all the mowing down but it was too hot to stay out and do the trimming. So we got up Tuesday and went out and got that done. The yard is actually looking pretty good now.

I worked a half day Monday and Friday and all Day Thursday. With the two new guys on and with the judges taking vacation it has been very light at work lately. I hope this continues through July.

Wednesday I got done with the re-configure of the LAN network after I replaced the defective switch. Everything is working OK now.

Got the Generac routined this Wednesday. That is another monkey off my back. However, this is the last time for this contract period. So I need to cough up some money to renew the contract for the next 5 years. It is cheaper to have the maintenance contract which includes them coming once a year to change oil, replace filters and run diagnostics then it would be for me to go buy the stuff and do it my self. Plus, they will respond usually within 8 hours if we have a failure. Also, last year when we had some bad weather, the maintenance boss was out in this area and gave me a call to make sure things were good with the system before he went home. Can’t beat that kind of service.

Friday I spent time getting my portable radios together for field day. I wasn’t planning on staying out there or setting them up. Just took them along in case. I helped with some things the best I could till they got setup and then things went down hill. No one was sitting at the radios thus no contacts. It started to rain around 3PM so I decided it was time to leave while I was still on a friendly basis with everyone. I hope they don’t ask me to comment at the meeting next month.

If you didn’t ready to comments last week, Lynn is back in Texas. Now she can have fun getting all the doctor’s appointments in.

That is the excitement for this week. As always I hope this finds you all safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. I see you are on-the-go as usual. Always something going on to keep you busy!

One of the tasks on my list is to weeds my flower beds. Like you mentioned…it has been so hot and humid, I haven’t been able to convince myself to get out there and do it! I would like a cloudy day, that would help. Highs in the middle 90s and 70 some percent humidity in the sun is not weed pulling weather.

All my doctor and dentist appointments are done and all are fine. Done until December. One new issue though, I have the beginnings of cataracts. Nothing to get worried about yet. This getting “old” crap is for the birds!

Happy 4th of July. Stay healthy and safe!
