Week Ending 07/05/25

Still catching up…………………………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

6/29/25 – Sunday – Up at 8AM and off to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Went over to Shelbyville to help with HAM testing. Stopped at the bank on the way home. Picked up Kathy and took her to Bob Evan’s for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.

6/30/25 – Monday – Up at 7AM. Kathy was off to take Chloe to dance this morning. I got cleaned up and went to Taylorsville to return the ballistic vest I borrowed for school and to chat with the folks in the office awhile. Then went to the Tea Cup to get some pastries but they are closed this week. So I went to Shelbyville and picked up some stuff at Dunkin Donuts. Then over to the PT place I went to. I let them all know I passed my testing at school and to give them the pastries I picked up. Then home and put the truck away. Did some conputer work till Kathy got home then we had lunch and a nap. Up and cnores around the house. Dinner and usual evening routine.

7/1/25 – Tuesday – Up around 9AM. Kathy was off again taking Chloe to dance. I tried to figured out some things with the Allstar node with no success. Then downstairs and started cleaning up the HAM radio stuff I took to field day. While I checked out the IC-7300 I made 5 contacts for the 13 Colonies event. Got that all put away and got the battery on charge. Then got the old crock pot out and tried to get into the switch I suspect is bad. Only way to do so is to destroy the thing so it went into the garbage. Kathy came home and we went over to Culver’s near the outlet mall for a late lunch/early dinner. Then some shopping at the mall. I got a new wallet. Then home and a nap. Up and chores. Usual evening routine.

7/2/25 – Wednesday – Up around 9AM and out to start mowing. Kathy was off to take Chloe to dance again this morning so I was solo. Kathy got home around 1PM so I stopped to get some lunch. She came out to help and we were done by 3PM. Not a hard job this time. Inside, cooled down, shower and nap. Up for dinner then usual evening routine.

7/3/25 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and into work. Worked the Circuit Court Clerks office from 7:30AM to 4PM. Stopped to get my haircut on the way home. Had dinner, did some chores then bed.

7/4/25 – Friday – Up around 9AM. Helped Kathy get things ready to take to Mike and Julie’s. Up there at 11AM for lunch. Dee joined us for a pleasant time. I came home around 2PM. Changed clothes and went over to Shelbyville for a viewing. The past President of our HAM club lost his 69 year old sister to cancer. I payed my respects and came home. Kathy was up at Mike and Julie’s till 5PM. She came home, we had dinner then usual evening routine.

7/5/25 – Saturday – Up around 9AM. Out to the Morton building to catch up on work. Got the chain saw working. Push mower needs a new carb. Then rewired the lights on the trailer. Kathy was out cleaning the church. She came home and we had a late lunch. I finished up in the Morton building. Came in, cooled down and cleaned up. Dinner and usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

I am slowly getting caught up. Got a good bit of work done in the Morton building Saturday. And I did get some more stuff related to my two weeks in Richmond.

Here is my official diploma for completing the class. Last time I have to go through the 2 week program. Just a 1 week class room refresher every two years now.

Here is our class picture. The guy to my left of me is from Shelbyville and he bet his wife he was the oldest in the class. His birthday was in September of 1948. I told him he lost the bet. So I guess I was the oldest. The two guys in the back row on either end were our instructors. Very good guys. The second one in from the left near the American Flag was my room mate. He is 22. I felt like his father. lol But we got along very well. It was a much better group than the first class I was in. I wish I hadn’t slouched so much for the picture but I was tired. The guy on the right front sat in front of me and we cut up a lot.

So really, other than what is in the chronology, nothing exciting happened. Only worked one day so that gave me a lot of time to catch up. I figure I’ll be done catching up this coming week. And I only have two days scheduled to work this coming week. So that is all good.

Well, as always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. Thanks for calling to make sure I was okay and not near the flooding in the Texas Hill Country. That area is about 4-5 hours away. What heartbreaking loss of life and devastation.
