Week Ending 07/12/25

A very slow week……………………………………………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

7/6/25 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Chores around the house till time to go see Gary. Over to his place for the afternoon get together. Home, picked up Kathy and off to the Mexican Restaurant in Taylorsville for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.

7/7/25 – Monday – Got my old keyboard on the table and started taking it apart. Couldn’t get inside the actual keyboard as it’s somewhat glued together. Nothing else exciting today.

7/8/25 – Tuesday – Kathy wasn’t feeling well so I spent the day trying to be as quiet as possible. Did some more work on the Keyboard and started reassembling. Went to a HAM club meeting this evening. Otherwise, nothing exciting.

7/9/25 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and to work. Manned the handicap door to the main court house from 8AM to 4:30PM. Home and dinner. Chatted with Gary and Mike on the radio at 7PM and ran the net at 9PM.

7/10/25 – Thursday – Up at 6AM again and off to work. Manned the door to the Circuit Court Clerks office from 7:30 to 4 with an hour off for lunch. Home and did burgers and dogs on the grill. Otherwise, usual evening routine.

7/11/25 – Friday – Up around 8, cleaned up and out to pay the accountant for taxes. Home and down to get gas can’s filled. Then started mowing. Finished up around 4PM. Inside, cooled down and cleaned up. Down to Taylorsville for Chinese food for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.

7/12/25 – Saturday – Up around 8. Kathy wasn’t feeling well so she went back to bed. I went to the shack and did research on the computer to stay quiet. She got up and we had lunch. Then I went for a nap. Up and did some computer work. Dinner then usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

If you didn’t check the comments from last week, I heard from Rick. That was great. Maybe you would like to tell us a little about what’s going on with you. Several people that read this would be interested.

I called Lynn to check on her with all the flooding going on in Texas. She said things were OK in her area. That’s several hours from where the flooding occurred.

Like I’ve been saying a lot lately, I’m getting caught up on some things. You may remember many months ago my keyboard crapped out. It had been having issues with all the keys not playing correctly and it finally got to the point it wouldn’t even power up. So, Kathy bought me a new one but I kept the old one to see if I could get it to work. These things are built like a brick shit house so it’s hard to guess what might have happened. I pulled the two circuit boards that I could get to and checked them over under my work station magnifying camera. I found a couple solder joints that looked questionable so I re-soldered them. As I’m putting it back together I am cleaning all the interconnect cables and sockets. If it works that’s great. If not, I have a new one and I’ll throw this one out.

Kathy’s leg has been bothering her lately. Seems it’s fine all day but when she lays down to sleep it starts hurting her. I put the Capsaicin cream on it one night and it seemed to help but of course she didn’t want to use that anymore. But it also seems to be OK if she does her exercises. So, your guess is as good as mine. Anyway, she was having issues a couple times this week.

Had the HAM club meeting Tuesday evening. That’s always interesting. Have a couple POTA outings planned so that’s good. They are running short on Wednesday evening net control operators so I filled in this week. I might agree to take it one week a month. But it’s really hell staying up till 9PM to run the net then get up at 6AM the next morning for my regular 7:30AM to 4PM shift at clerks office.

The accountant finally got my taxes done this week. Of course I didn’t get him the information in time to have them done by 4/15. In any event, we are getting money back from the Federal and State. So that is a good thing. It’s the only reason I stay with this guy. He always gives me good information and I’m always getting money back.

Friday we did the yard work. Discovered the new S180 and the wife’s zero turn are not cutting at the same height. Kathy’s mower is cutting a little lowers. So guess who has to change? So next time we mow I’ll do a couple runs and let her go over them and see if we can’t get them at the same height.

Only had the two days to work this week but they were full days. Got 8.5 hours on each day. It is nice not having to work so much but that will change by the end of the summer.

Well that’s about all the excitement for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. Getting caught up on my house stuff. I think I am just about done outside. Pressure washing patio room and sidewalks/driveway, clean patio/outdoor furniture, tree trimming, weeding in shrub beds, cleaning/organizing garage, wash car. Thank goodness…humidity has been horrible!

Well, I caved in and bought a new vehicle. 2025 Nissan Pathfinder. Love it so far! 0% financing…heck yes, I’ll use their money for free!

The person next door sold her house to one of those “We Buy Ugly Houses” and are flipping it for a sale. What a pain. Installed new fence and left their crap all over the lawn, including my property. Water bottles, broken lumber, etc. While installing the fence they decided to take the water out of my outdoor faucet without asking. Water bills are high enough here…but if they had asked, it would have been a different story! Pressure washed the driveway and they washed all kinds of metal, broken glass, other construction debris into the street and just left it there. Well, broom in hand, guess who cleaned all of it up. Fingers crossed it gets sold to someone responsible.

Enough complaining for this week! Till next time!
