Special Addition 9/3/25

Hope you all had a good labor day…………………………………………………………….

No chronology this time. I’d have no idea how to do that one. So here are the events of the last 5 days or so.

Last Thursday I was working as usual and during the afternoon got a little sweaty. Only lasted 15 or 20 seconds and went away. Didn’t think any more about that. Then later in the day, Kathy and I were going out for dinner and we stopped at local used car dealer just to see what used Jeeps were going for. Had to walk up a little incline to the guys office and was out of breath. Went to eat and had no issues. After I got home I felt a little off so I used my fancy Apple Watch that my daughter made me buy and sure enough, i showed I was in A-fib and pulse rate was in the 140s. I figured it would go away so went to bed and set my alarm for 6AM the next morning as I was suppose to work district court. Got up at 6, checked and things had not changed. Called in sick and sent message to cardiologist with a copy of the ECGs from the watch. Got a call around 9:30 recommending that I got to the ER. Kathy was a doctor’s appointment and got back about 10 as I was finishing my shower. Got dressed and headed to Norton Emergency Room. I was quickly back to a cell. They tried various things and nothing worked. So they admitted me. Over the next three days they tried various chemical methods of getting my heart rate to stay down consistently and to get me out of A-fib. Nothing work. So Tuesday morning they took me down to the cath. lab for cardio version. Gave me conscious sedation and shocked me. First at 180 then at 200 Joules bi-phasic. I finally came out of A-fib and my heart rate slowed. I was discharged around 1:30 in the afternoon. I was discharged with the condition that I follow up with various providers and now have to take Amiodarone twice a day.

I am glad now that I was not my usual dick and did what they suggest. Therefore I got it all over in 4 days. Had I been an ass and demanded to go home I’d probably be back there again. But being bed ridden (and not in a good way) and being tethered to a bunch of machines and asking for help to disconnect so I could go to the bathroom was a real pain in the ass. But, with the exception of one RN that didn’t know her ass from a hole in the ground, I could not have asked for better care. In any event, I have notified all my doctors, got a response from one already that said he doesn’t need to see me. I don’t know what the other two will like to do. Anyway, I am home and feel good for the most part. A little light headed at times but I think that’s my body adjust to the Amiodarone.

Just wanted to keep everyone informed that gives a shit. lol Have a great day. Stay safe and healthy my friends.

  1. OMG…Sorry I haven’t checked in for the past few weeks. Now I feel bad I haven’t kept current. Hope you are doing better and things have settled down.
