Week Ending 1/24/26

I think I might stop doing this………………………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

1/18/26 – Sunday – Must have eaten something that didn’t agree with me last night. Was in pain all day today. Stayed in bed most of the day. Blew off church and going to Gary’s. Didn’t want to leave the wife down so went to Bob Evan’s for dinner and had some pan cakes.

1/19/26 – Monday – Still a little sick from Saturday night. Wife and I emptied the spare bedroom. Had lunch then Julie came over and helped us put down the area carpet and move the stuff back in. Julie took off. We had dinner then usual evening routine.

1/20/26 – Tuesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the court room from 8AM to about 11:00AM. Stopped at Country Mart on the way home. Kathy was out and about when I got home so I had lunch and then a nap. Kathy came home and I got up. Then out for PT at 4:30PM. Home and dinner. Usual evening routine.

1/21/26 – Wednesday – Up at 8AM and down for my hair cut. Girl that was suppose to do it was snowed in so I didn’t get mine done. Kathy called and got in with the other gal around 11AM. I had lunch and played radio. Around 2:30PM the HVAC company said their tech was on his way to do the servicing on the furnace. He was gone about 3:30. Kathy was napping so I woke her up. Had dinner then usual evening routine.

1/22/26 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Manned the door to the Circuit Court Clerk’s office from 7:30AM to 4PM. Then over to Shelbyville for PT. Home, dinner and usual evening routine.

1/23/26 – Friday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the District Court Room from 8AM to around 11:30PM. Home and Kathy was out and about. I had lunch then to bed for a nap. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Usual evening routine.

1/23/26 – Saturday – Up at 8AM. The snow storm is suppose to start around 2PM this afternoon. Spent the morning doing my home exercises, getting cleaned up and paying all the bills to the end of the month. Had lunch. A short nap then up and down to play radio. Up for dinner and usual evening routine.

Now the details:

Well the last two weeks I had the wrong date on my posts and apparently nobody noticed. I guess I’m doing this for myself. Perhaps I need to take a serious look at doing it anymore.

The dinner party Saturday evening did me in. I guess it was just some strange food but it sure did have an adverse impact on my digestive system. Hurt all Saturday night and Sunday. Still a little tender on Monday.

Monday was carpet day. We got an area rug for the front bedroom several months ago and never got around to putting it down. I suggested several times that we could do it ourselves and always got push back so I finally said “fuck it”. Now that Todd and his girl friend are coming in a couple weeks it became more important. So, Kathy and I cleaned out the room on Monday morning. Julie and Chloe came over after lunch and helped put it down and then helped put things back in the room. All done nice for Todd and his girl friend.

I worked Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Tuesday I did Probate and Juvenile court. Thursday was my usual day on the door and Friday I helped with District court. Nothing exciting.

Wednesday the HVAC guy came. Weather was shitty but I think they wanted to get me done. So he came and went over everything and we are good till spring now.

The apocalypse snow storm was suppose to hit here starting at 2PM on Saturday and last through Sunday morning. We got maybe 4 to 6 inches of snow by the end of Saturday. It was a mix of rain and crap Saturday night which got rid of some of the snow. Next week I’ll let you know the final account on that.

PT seems to be working but of course it is too slow for me. But I must admit I wasn’t doing the stuff at home like I should. I will be doing much better this week. I have an appointment with the pain and spine center next week. Perhaps I’ll find out if I get more shots or not.

Well that’s about all the excitement here. As always, hope this finds you safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.

  1. I DO read your blog every week, but have not been commenting. Nothing exciting on my end, so writing the same thing would not be all that exciting. Please continue to do the blog…I do enjoy reading it!

I had a good case of adenovirus a couple weeks ago…full blown with conjunctivitis, really tired, bad congestion and cough. I’m still coughing yet…just won’t go away. I’m must be having an allergy issue of some kind over here, all I do is sneeze.

Sure ready for this cold weather to go away. Was 85°F Sunday afternoon and it is supposed to be 29°F Monday night. Mother nature is sure having fun making it a mess for everyone. My friend Craig has my house water all turned off and drained for the cold. Was 25°F there Sunday into Monday morning. Allen my shrubs wrapped in sheets to protect them. Thank you Craig!

So much snow have y’all had this winter? Hopefully the plow has been working well. Sure glad we don’t have to deal with snow (hopefully)…you know how much I like driving in it!

I see Todd will be heading your way in a few weeks. It been awhile since he has been there, right? Hope y’all have a good visit.

Glad to hear you’re doing much better after your injections and PT. As we get older, it seems like all we do is go to medical appointments! Hope it all continues to work out for you.

I’m waiting for the weather to warm a little and for acorns/leaves to quit falling to get a head start on yardwork. I’ve got a lot of palm trees to trim. There is a bumper crop of acorns this year to clean up. Thank goodness for the lawn sweeper. Sure saves a lot of raking!

Well, better run…need to get ready to run some errands today. Stay safe, warm and healthy. Later!

  2. Hey I read them every week as well. I see they are usually dated on Saturday’s but if you do it a day on either side not gonna call you out on it, or it could be a typo. Hope all is well, we got hammered with snow about 20-24″. I was thinking about you watching the ice forecasts, hope you got through it with no problems.
