A very busy but productive week…………………………………….
As always, first the chronology:
11/19/17 – Sunday – Up early and over to pick up Gary for church. Home, took a nap then had lunch. To my room to do the blog and computer updates. Then up and helped Kathy get dinner ready. Mike, Julie and the grand children came over for dinner. They left, we cleaned up and I went to bed.
11/20/17 – Monday – Up and down to my room to finish up ordering material for my microphone project and Gary’s radio interface. Also made an appointment to have the furnace maintained. Spent the rest of the day working on the documentation for my clock project. Then bed, some TV, and sleep.
11/21/17 – Tuesday – Up and chores around the house. Cleaned up and out to have Thanksgiving lunch with our grand daughter Shelby at her school. Ran some errands after then home and more computer work. Went to Cattleman’s Roadhouse for dinner. Home and made the end of the 6:30PM net. More computer work and to bed. Some Big Bang and sleep.
11/22/17 – Wednesday – Up early and out for a hair cut. Spent some time chatting with Faith. Then stop at Dollar General for a 1/2 gallon of milk for Kathy. Home and made the retiree net at 10AM. Worked on my article most of the day. Took a nap then over to pick up Gary for dinner at church. Home, desert, bed, Big Bang and sleep.
11/23/17 – Thursday – Up and some chores around the house. Cleaned up and loaded the car to go up to Mike and Julie’s for lunch. Helped Mike with some electrical work while there. Left mid afternoon, stopped at CVS on the way home but the pharmacy was closed. I went to my room and played radio. Kathy took a nap and left about 5:30 to go up shopping with Julie. I went to bed around 9 PM, watched some Big Bang and sleep.
11/24/17 – Friday – Up and downstairs to finish my article on my clock project. Finished the rough draft, published it on my blog and sent copies out for review. Up stairs and cleaned up. Up to Middletown to CVS to pick up medication. Then to Country Mart for some gallon jugs of water for my kitchen downstairs and a pint of milk. Home and opened up the packages of stuff I ordered. Down to my room and started working on my microphone project. Upstairs to bed, some computer work, watched the Dirty Dozen and sleep.
11/25/17 – Saturday – Kathy was up and out early to help Julie take the grand children to get their pictures taken. I went to the Morton building and got tools to start work on my boom mike project. Kathy came home and we went to the Morton building to scrub out a couple ice chests. Back to the house. I finished up the metal work on the mike project. Then we went to Hometown for dinner. Home, some radio. Upstairs and cleaned out my closet. To bed, some computer work, Big Bang and sleep.
Now the particulars:
I apologize to folks that are not as computer literate as I am. I made the assumption that everyone would look around and find things on their own. I was advised this week that I was wrong and I should explain some things. When you visit my blog site you will notice some tabs you can click on in the lower right. If you chose the “Follow” option it will ask for an email address. It’s not a problem if you enter you email address here. You will not be flooded with spam and/or junk mail. You will receive my posts in your email whenever I put them up. Just saves you coming here and looking for new posts.
The week was filled with eating and Thanksgiving celebration. The first nice experience was Sunday evening when the tribe all came over and we had dinner in the dinning room on the new carpet. Then Tuesday we went to St. Patrick’s to have a celebration with our grand daughter Shelby. Now that Julie is working closer to home and can take compensatory time off she was able to join us. That was a rare happening in her life which I think is good. The kids put on a little skit which wasn’t bad and we met the parents of another set of twins. A delightful couple. Another exception for the day. All in all a very nice time. Of course some people are finding it hard to believe I’m saying it.
Kathy went into holiday mode on Wednesday. She cooked and baked up a storm. She did a ham, some sweet potatoes, 3 different pies and some other sundry items. Then Thursday we loaded it all in the car and took it to Mike and Julie’s house. Julie did a similar thing with other assorted foods including a turkey. Now the food that Julie made or the food that Kathy made would have been sufficient to feed all the people in attendance. So I commented on the fact and indicated I thought it was a waste in effort. Note to self: Don’t open mouth when Kathy is in “Holiday Nazi” mode. End discussion.
OK, a big bear off my back. I got the article done on my GPS UTC/Local Clock project. I’ve been requested by the local HAM club to write it up as some people in the club want to put one together. I was also encourage to write it up and submit it to the ARRL that publishes a monthly magazine called QST. (The ARRL is an organization for HAM radio folks). So, I finished up the first draft this week and posted it on my blog as well as emailing it to several people for review. When I get the feedback I will submit it to the ARRL for consideration.
So, that was the week. Did not get out to the Morton building to do any of the work I need to do out there. I’m going to try and get back to the motorcycle project early this week as it’s suppose to be in the upper 50s to lower 60s on Tuesday and I’d like to go riding.
I’ll say goodbye for this week. Hope you all had a very pleasant Thanksgiving. I know it can be a very wonderful time with all the family around but it can also be a sad event when you miss the ones that are gone. It should just make you understand how important it is to enjoy the fellowship of those family members that you still have.
Have a great week and blog at you again next week.
