Interesting week but not too busy………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

4/7/19 – Sunday – Up and out to pick up Gary for church. Home, paper and more coffee. Down to do the blog. Lunch. Kathy went up to help Julie with some things. I got my logs in order from yesterdays contest. Took a short nap. Dinner. Chores. Bed, Big Bang and sleep.

4/8/19 – Monday – Ran errands this morning. Picked up tax papers from CPA. Went to the bank to get some cash, then to Kroger’s to pick up a prescription and do some shopping then home. Put things away and replaced a couple light bulbs. Lunch then gathered information for equipment maintenance and out to Lowes to pick things up. Lowes was a mess. Crap all over the place, hardly room to push a shopping cart down the aisles. Gave up and went to John Deer for the belt I needed then to auto parts store in Taylorsville for some things. Back and started doing maintenance. In for dinner. Kathy came home. To my room to order some things online. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Upstairs to do some reading. Bed, TV and sleep.

4/9/19 – Tuesday – Spent the day outside cleaning up the lawn. Got most of it done. Inside for dinner, met the guys on 2 meters. Bed, Big Bang, Computer updates and sleep.

4/10/19 – Wednesday – Up early and dressed waiting for Julie to come over. Went to county clerks office for some business then took a load of things from the Morton building to Good Will. Back to Taylorsville and lunch at the Chinese restaurant. Home and put my new carburetor on the chipper and got that running. In the house and cleaned up then over to pick up Gary then over to pick up Mike. Then to church for dinner. Home, computer updates, bed, Big Bang and sleep.

4/11/19 – Thursday – Up early. Couldn’t sleep. Into Oxmoor mall for my annual eye exam. Home and worked outside. Finished up the yard work for this week and put a new stand under the sink for the water heater. Inside for a nap. Met the guys on 2 meters. Bed, Computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

4/12/19 – Friday – Kathy was off to play secretary at the church. I played radio then had lunch. Out to the Morton building to work on my antenna. Took a short break to run over to Gary’s to help him with his new amazon tablet. Kathy came home, took a nap then headed back to church to help with the fish fry. I made shrimp scampi over linguini. Then back to my room to play radio. Bands are really good today. Bed, computer updates, TV and sleep.

4/13/19 – Saturday – Was suppose to go up to Mike and Julie’s to retrieve the car I registered this week but plans got changed. So I finished up my antenna and tried to tune it with little luck. Need to do some recalculations and perhaps re-make the driver elements. Had a great dinner that Kathy made. Did some radio and computer updates. Then up to bed, Big Bang and sleep.

Now the specifics:

This may be long so hold on.  Just a lot of small items.

Monday I picked up the tax paperwork from the accountant and got that finished up.  First since we have been retired that we got money back.  I’m happy.

Went to Lowes this week to pick up things for maintenance.  They usually have a good supply of things I need.  But the place was a disaster area.  They had things in the aisles that made it difficult to move a shopping cart around.  They didn’t have the belt I was looking for so I went to look for the spark plug guide when one of the employees decided to park herself right in front of  the spark plugs and started to give another customer a lecture about spark plugs.  I gave up, left the cart where it was and got out of there.  Went to the John Deere store and paid top dollar for the belt I needed, then went to the auto parts store to find they didn’t have what I was looking for.  So I went home and ordered things online.  And then they wonder why the stores are going out of business.

First mowing of the lawn this week.  Felt sorta good to get out there.  Kathy was busy so I was on my own.  Didn’t get it all done on Tuesday so I finished it up Thursday when I got back from my eye exam.

The water heater under the sink in the Morton building was sitting on a little stand that was made out of pressed board.  That started drawing damp and the pressed board was essential disintegrating.  So I made a new stand out of solid wood and put it under the water heater.  Then I noticed traces of moisture on the solid wood so I think the tank is leaking. I guess I’ll have to get a new one.

Eye exam was good.  One eye deteriorated 1/4 since last year.  I’m not sure what that means.  It did the same thing last year.  Since I didn’t get glasses last year as it didn’t change much the doctor told me I should probably get them this year.

Well the bands have been picking up lately.  Good propagation and low noise.  I made several contacts to Madrid, Spain.  They must be having a special events thing there as I made contact with stations AM70A and AM70C.  You can keep track of my contacts by looking at my hobbies page at Hobbies Page.  There you can see the last 15 contacts I have uploaded to my QRZ page.  Since I’m logging to a MySQL database now I might try to link to that so you can see my contacts in real time.  That should bore you to death.

Finished up my 2 meter antenna this week.  Tried tuning it but it doesn’t work.  I don’t want to get into all the details here but I think some of the measurements are off.  Going to try a different program and hopefully make a few adjustments to fix the problem.  If that can’t be done I guess I’ll order more material and start again.
