A week of playing catch up………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

6/23/19 – Sunday – Up and showered. Down for breakfast and on the road around 8:30AM. Stopped for lunch and got home around 2:30PM. Unpacked and put things away. Downstairs and did resets and updates on computers and peripherals. Did the blog. Upstairs for a light dinner. To bed, some TV and sleep.

6/24/19 – Monday – Up and out to Lensecrafters to get a couple pair of glass fixed. They fixed one pair. Down to Shelbyville and picked up mower blades for the lawn tractor. Then Arby’s to pick up lunch. Home and ate. Kathy went for some routine doctor’s appointments. I took a ride for some R&R. Home and had dinner. Then down stairs to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Some work on my travel blog then to bed, TV and sleep.

6/25/19 – Tuesday – Up and out to get a new battery installed in my Iphone. Went shopping at Walmart for thumb drives and a external hard drive. Home and waited for Kathy to call. Went to meet her and the grand daughters at Dairy Queen for lunch. Spent the afternoon with the grand daughters then worked on travel blog entry. Had dinner. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Upstairs to bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

6/26/19 – Wednesday – Up and out to the Morton building. Put new blades on mower deck and put new cutter blade on Kathy’s string trimmer. Started mowing around 10AM. Took a 1/2 hour break for lunch and quit around 3PM. Still had work but weather was kicking my ass. Inside to cool down, nap and shower. Dinner and down stairs to chat with Gary on the radio. Did some research then upstairs for dessert, bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

6/27/19 – Thursday – Up and out for hair cut. Back home and finished lawn trimming. Sprayed weeds. Inside for lunch then downstairs to work on the Assataeque blog. Did some research and played radio. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Went to Chinese restaurant with Kathy for dinner. Home, bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

6/28/19 – Friday – Up and worked on my blog awhile. Helped Kathy with the pool. Seems we had a major algae bloom while we were away. Missed lunch but went to Harbor Freight to pick up some things so we had a late lunch/early dinner at Bob Evans about 3PM. Stopped at Kroger to pick up some things and home. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters then out to vacuum the pool. Had to dump the water so we had to hook up the hoses and put some back. Tried out the canopy we bought last year and never used. Bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

6/29/19 – Saturday – Up and out to spray for bugs in the yard. Put up my new light over the work bench in the Morton Building. Inside and cleaned up. Down to my room to finish my blog entry on our trip to Assataeque. Played radio awhile. Then dinner. Out for a short swim with Kathy. A thunderstorm popped up so we went inside. I took a look at the defective microwave I got from Julie. Then upstairs to bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

Now the specifics:

This week was essentially a catch up week from being away.  We did the yard the week before we went to Assateaque and it was raining when we came back.  Apparently had some very wet weather here while we were gone.  So, Monday and Tuesday did running.  It cleared up Tuesday but things were still too wet to do anything.  Wednesday morning we started and beside the long grass to deal with we discovered the pool had developed an algae bloom.

I did the majority of cutting grass on Wednesday but when it came to the  more labor intensive trimming the heat got to me and I had to quit by about 3 in the afternoon.  I finished things up Thursday after I got my hair cut.  Still a lot of grass clippings around but it’s just not possible to catch all the grass.  So, it will look like hell till the next time I mow which will probably be the early or mid part of next week.  The mower did work a lot better with the new blades I installed Wednesday before I started.  And the blades I took off are not beat too badly so I think I’ll be able to sharpen them and avoid spending the $50 for a new set next year.

Kathy checked the pool for some reason and it was very green.  She took a water sample to the pool place and they told her what needed to be done.  The guy was apparently a genius when it come to pools.  He gave her a lot of shock in bags which is the cheapest kind and some coagulant.  Told her to bring up the chlorine level till the pool turns milky color.  Then put in the coagulant, run the pool pump for an hour and then shut it off.  He claimed the filter would not take out the milky stuff so he wanted us to turn off the filter to let it settle.  Then we vacuumed the pool by siphoning the water and letting it run out in the yard.  Brought the pool water level back up to where it should be and it is crystal clear.  Took a total of 2 days and all is well.  I am impressed.  So, long story short the pool is ready for the 4th.

I’d like to thank the people that left comments or liked my blog pages.  Especially my friend Rick who I need to call and chat with.  It’s been too long.  Perhaps I will make that a priority this week.  I have several folks on my list that I need to call.

Happy 4th of July to everyone.  I think everyone knows my attitude about this holiday.  It is truly an important celebration for our country.  However, I am saddened by the total disrespect people have for our combat veterans and our animal friends.  It is pointless to beg people to stop putting off firework as most of them only think about themselves and tend to be very arrogant about things.  So my only recourse it to apologize to those friends of mine that I know had a rough time in the military and try my best to sooth our dog during the holidays.

As promised, I did the blog entry for our trip last week.  All the pictures are on my local server here with a link from the blog post.  I did some upgrades this week and the local server started showing some hard drive errors.  I guess I’ll eventually need to address that.  Perhaps I’ll lose the pictures when it happens.  But until then, enjoy them.
