Another very busy week…………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

6/30/19 – Sunday – Up and down to my room to do the blog. Then out to the Morton building to get a few items. Started work on the broken Microwave from Mike and Julie’s house. Controller was bad and new one would be $188. So I took micro-switches, fan and high voltage transformer out. Boxed the rest up and put it out for garbage. Had lunch and cleaned up in my room a little. Over to Gary’s for the Sunday afternoon get together. Home and took the wife to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. Back and down to my room to start loading the mirror computer for Megexcel. Disk has been showing errors so it’s going to die in time. I want to be ready. Did computer updates, to bed, TV and sleep.

7/1/19 – Monday – Out for dentist appointment. Back and played radio. 13 colonies contest is running. Grabbed 4 states. Worked on mirror server. Helped Kathy in with groceries. Took a nap. Up and chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Did burgers on the grill. Down for more work on the mirror server. Bed, TV and sleep.

7/2/19 – Tuesday – Up and out to put a canopy up over the pool deck. Fixed the hinges on the deck pool gate. Checked the the chlorine dispenser and it appeared to have problems so I fixed the air lock situation. Inside and went to Diary Queen with Kathy and the Grand Kids. Home and out to the pool with the grand kids. Mike and Julie came over for dinner. Downstairs and chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Upstairs, dessert, bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

7/3/19 – Wednesday – Up and out to take Carter downtown for a doctor’s appointment. Got him back at noon. Kathy and I went to the Hillview for lunch then home. I worked some more states for the 13 colony contest. Then cleaned up the bbq grill and some other things in preparation for tomorrow’s company. Had dinner then downstairs to play radio. Computer updates, bed, big bang and sleep.

7/4/19 – Thursday – Up and helped Kathy get ready for the tribe coming for lunch. Played radio awhile. Started cooking on the barbecue. Everyone arrived and ate well. Then out to the pool for an afternoon of fun with the grand kids. In and some cards. Everyone gone by around 6PM. Downstairs and chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Played radio some more, upstairs for a light snack for dinner. Bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

7/5/19 – Friday – Up and out to the St. Matthews mall to get some things fixed at the fix-it shop there. Kathy went to Dillards for some makeup. Had lunch in the food court. I had a Gyro. Haven’t had one of those in a long time. Home and I played radio. Kathy took a sample of pool water to the pool store and bought more chemicals. Then to the church to pick something up for the ladies group. Had dinner then downstairs to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Out on the motorcycle to pick up a prescription at Krogers in J-town. Home and computer updates. Bed and some reading. TV and sleep.

7/6/19 – Saturday – Relaxed today. Played radio. Rest of the time just sat on the deck chatting with Kathy. Worked on getting rid of leftovers at lunch and dinner. To bed around 8:30, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

Now the particulars:

I’d like to just point out that every kid in the world doesn’t have their nose stuck in a cell phone or other electronic device playing games.  This was Carter reading the Sunday comics when we were watching them on Tuesday.

In the unlikely event you read the chronology you may ask why I took the parts out of the broken microwave.  It just happens that the high voltage transformer in a microwave is easily modified to work as a spot welder.  So that is my objective.  Probably just another project that will fall by the wayside.

Went to the dentist Monday for the usual cleaning and inspection.  Found some decay under one of my caps so I’ll have to go through another bout with the dentist.  And they wonder why I hate them. lol

Happy 4th of July.  We had Mike, Julie, Dee and the grand kids over for lunch.  Then everyone went to the pool for the afternoon for a lot of fun.  Dee and Mike sat out for the afternoon but the canopy I installed provided a nice shade for them.

Shelby found a butterfly.  She is intrigued with wildlife.

The beginning of July, usually from the 1st to the 7th, there is a contest to contact stations in all 13 original colonies.  There are also 3 bonus stations.  The manager of the contest, a station in England and one at the location of the liberty bell in Philadelphia, PA.  The objective is to contact all of them.  I have been successful at getting all 13 of the original colonies as well as the manager and the station in Philadelphia.  Have not so far been able to bag the station in England.  I have the rest of today but I’m not holding my breath.  Band conditions are just not cooperating.  Still not a bad showing.

Last week I said I was going to make some phone calls.  That didn’t happen.  I will try to do that this week.  Monday will be doing yard work.  Kathy has some things she wants done so it may be more than just one day.
