Not an exciting week……………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

7/21/19 – Sunday – Up and usual routine. Downstairs to do the blog. Upstairs and household chores. Kathy came home. Did dogs and burgers on the grill for lunch. Downstairs and played radio till about 2PM. Upstairs and cleaned up then over to Gary’s for the Sunday afternoon get together. Home and took Kathy to Bob Evans for dinner. Grocery shopping and home. Bed, Big Bang, computer updates and sleep.

7/22/19 – Monday – Didn’t sleep well last night. Stomach was bothering me. Kathy was up and out for something with her ladies group from church. I got cleaned up and took 3 sealed lead acid batteries to Batteries and Bulbs plus for disposal. Stopped to pick up a prescription. Then to Taylorsville for some unproductive shopping. Home and a light lunch. Kathy came home and we essentially napped all afternoon. Up and a light dinner. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Then out shopping at Walmart. Home and put things away. Played radio. Bed, computer updates, TV and sleep.

7/23/19 – Tuesday – Up and out for a dentist appointment to replace a crown. Dentist thought there was some decay under the cap. He removed the cap, put on a temporary and made the mold for the new cap. Home and did some household chores. Kathy came over with the grandchildren. Had lunch then out to the pool for the afternoon. Did dogs and burgers on the grill for Mike, Julie, and the grand kids. Down to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Upstairs to bed, computer work, TV and sleep.

7/24/19 – Wednesday – Kathy was up early for a routine doctor’s appointment. I got up and downstairs to play radio. Up and cleaned up and out on the motorcycle a little before noon. Bank, Lowes and around the back roads. Over 44 and stopped in Shepardsville for lunch at Denny’s original diner. Over to the Dixie Highway and a stop at my favorite watering hole. Back home via 44 and 1319. Kathy was out giving blood. I got things cleaned up. Kathy came home and we went out for Chinese for dinner. Stopped by a county park to see what it’s like. Then home. Dessert. Bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

7/25/19 – Thursday – Kathy was up and out to take Chloe to physical therapy. I was out to get my hair cut. Home and out to start the lawn work. Finished up a little before 4PM. Inside to cool down and get clean up. Dinner and downstairs to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Upstairs to bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

7/26/19 – Friday – Spent most of the day in my room doing research and working on a project. Took a break at lunch and took the truck for gas. Then to the Mexican restaurant with Kathy. Home and over to Gary’s to look at a problem he was having. Back home and played radio till dinner. Then down and chatted with Gary on 2 meters. Computer updates and up to bed. TV and sleep.

7/27/19 – Saturday – Kathy went up to help Julie today. I helped load some things in the truck for her before she took off. She was up there most of the day. I spent the day watching some youtube videos and learning Python. I skipped lunch and made dinner for myself around 4:30. Kathy came home about 5:30. Did some chores around the house then to bed, computer updates, TV and sleep.

It is almost the end of August.  I find the older I get the more I wonder what I’ve done with my time.  I can’t believe things are moving as fast as they are.  Perhaps that adds perspective to some future plans.

I’ve reconnected with some people this week.  Made some more phone calls I wanted to make.  Not very successfully but I will continue trying.  I’ve also reconnected with some folks I graduated from high school with.  Or should I say they reconnected with me.  They just showed up on Facebook.  So that is a good thing.

Went to the dentist this week.  He removed the crown he suspected had decay under it.  To my delight he was able to clean it up and sent out for a new crown for me.  I was envisioning the worst but hoping for the best and my wish came true.  He put a temporary cap on and I will go back in two weeks to get the permanent crown put on.

Had a good day with the grand kids this week.  Kathy keeps them on Tuesdays to give the full time babysitter a break.  So she brought them over this week and we spent the day in the pool.  Then Mike and Julie came over so I did dogs, burgers and kielbasi on the grill for dinner.  It was a great day.

The heat subsided here this week so I took advantage of it and went out on the motorcycle on Wednesday.  Had some stops to make then just toured around the county.  Took my favorite ride over route 44 to the Dixie Highway.  It’s through a lot of rural settings with little to no traffic and windy up and down the hills.  A very nice day to ride.  Put 120 miles on the motorcycle.

I’ve tried playing radio this week but bands are still not in good shape.  I did make some DX (Distant) contacts but nothing that kept me on for very long.  Unfortunately they had a contest this weekend and it was not good for the participants.

The yard didn’t really look bad but we thought it would be easier if we did it and kept it short.  So Thursday we did our outside work.  It wasn’t bad this week.  Haven’t had much rain so the grass was not deep and thick as usual.  And some of the areas that are swampy from springs has dried up so I was able to mow a lot with the riding mower.  The rest was easy to do by hand.

Kathy spent the day Saturday helping Julie clean things out of the house.  She took the truck so they could haul it all to Goodwill.  From what I’ve heard they got a lot accomplished.

I’ve been working on two projects this week.  I have given up on the antenna for now as it’s too hot to put it on the roof anyway.  But I’ve been downloading some software and it appears that a lot of applications these days are going to a programming language called Python.  I wouldn’t call it a programming language as it’s more of a script based language.  But I don’t want to bore you with the differences.  And the other thing I’m working on is a digital display for my analog radio.  Again, won’t bore you with all that.
