Not a very productive week…………………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
10/8/19 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. A good nights sleep and got up when I wanted. Breakfast and downstairs to do the blog. Kathy got a call to go to the Zoo with Julie and the grand kids. I spent the day cleaning out behind my new shelving unit and going through papers on my desk. Got a call to meet the tribe at Cracker Barrel for dinner. Home and downstairs to finish some things up and do computer updates. Upstairs, dessert, bed, Big Bang and sleep.
10/9/19 – Monday – Up early and out to help Mike again. Got some cable installed and chatted awhile. Home and took Kathy to Dairy Queen for lunch. Home and chores around the house. A nap. Dinner, chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Computer updates, to bed, TV and sleep.
10/10/19 – Tuesday – Caught a cold last night and have been miserable. Spent the day on drugs and in bed. Got a call from Gary around 5:15PM that he would not be on the radio. Gave Mike a call and no response. Changed the furnace filter and prepared the estimated State Tax payment. To bed, Big Bang, computer updates and sleep.
10/11/19 – Wednesday – Up at usual time. Kathy was out getting her car serviced for her trip to PA. I pushed to stay up but had to rest after every 15 to 20 minutes. Perhaps tomorrow will be better.
10/12/19 – Thursday – Up at usual time. Out and got my hair cut. Home and chores around the house. Lunch and down to my room. Did some work re-cabling and hanging a plaque. Light dinner and downstairs to chat with the guys. Noise was too high. Need to find out where it’s coming from. Back upstairs. Bed, computer updates, TV and sleep.
10/13/19 – Friday – Stopped taking medication today. Feeling somewhat better. Spent most of the day on the computer and trying to isolate the noise I’m getting on VHF high band. Otherwise nothing exceptional. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Dessert, bed, TV, computer updates and sleep.
10/14/19 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Slept well last night. Still not feeling top notch. Continued work on re-cabling the equipment on the new shelving unit using the things I bought at the HAMfest. Finally figured out that I was still dehydrated and that was why I still feel crappy. Took care of that and things are improving. Got the new ground bar mounted and most everything moved to it. Up to bed around 8PM. Computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
Now the particulars:
The big issue for me personally was the cold I came down with Monday night. I started with the Corecidin, Afrin and Tylenol. Took that religiously through Thursday. Friday started feeling better but still was light headed and couldn’t do much for very long. Saturday I finally figured out it was dehydration. Drank some Vitamin Water and a lot of regular water. Started feeling much better by Saturday evening.
We heard this week that Todd has some pulmonary issues. It seems they found some spots on his lungs. They did a pet scan early this week and will do some more tests this coming week. Kathy is leaving here Friday to go up to central PA for her nursing school reunion so she decided to go on up to New York and be with Todd for the last test they need to do. Everyone says it’s not a big issue as he is healthy and in good shape and it’s very early. So regardless of what it is they feel they can treat it successfully. It still worries me. Time will tell.
I developed a lot of noise on the VHF high bands here. I did quite a bit of diagnosis and determined it was definitely not coming from anything in the house. At the onset it was bad enough I could not use one of my radios. Since it has subsided and become intermittent. I’m hopeful it will just go away as quickly as it developed.
Got a text from a guy I graduated high school with. He asked me if I knew an Ardith Pressler. I told him that was my mother and he said there was a picture with her in it published in the local news paper in Tyrone. He was nice enough to cut it out and send it to me. It was a retirement party for the guy she worked for. He had a Doctorate in chemistry and was hired by the local paper mill to resolve some issues they were having. My mother worked as his assistant/secretary for many years at the paper mill. Thanks again Jeff for sending the picture.
I’ve been helping my son-in-law with his project of building cabinets into a closet. He is including LCD lighting that has taken some figuring out. It’s slow going getting everything working together but it will be beautiful when it’s done.
I slapped things together quickly when I put my stuff in the new shelving unit in my HAM shack so I’ve been spending time cleaning that up. Made a lot of progress over the last week. Probably the only good thing that came out of being sick.
Well that’s it for this week. I hope everyone is doing well and will blog at you again next week.
Please get rid of your germs 🤒 before you head south. We don’t want them down here! Thoughts and prayers that all will be okay with Todd. ❤
