Another unique week…………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

11/24/19 – Sunday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Kathy went to church and I went downstairs and did the blog. Had a lot to say and WordPress changed the editor so I took an excessive time. Upstairs and took a shower. Kathy came home and we had lunch. Chores around the house and over to Gary’s for the Sunday afternoon get together. Home and dinner. Downstairs to pay some bills and do some research. Upstairs, bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

11/25/19 – Monday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Kathy went for her dentist appointment. I worked on software most of the day. Took a break to haul some stuff back out to the Morton building and to help Kathy with Christmas lights. Otherwise not an exciting day.

11/26/19 – Tuesday – Up and out early to help Gary with his remote setup. Home around noon and waited for Kathy to come home from shopping. Unloaded groceries and went to the Hillview for lunch. Home and started chores around the house. Kathy couldn’t get the faucet turned off in the downstairs tub. Bad valve. Had to turn off water to the house and go out for plumbing supplies. Put shutoffs in the lines and will replace it next week after the Thanksgiving holidays. Dinner and chat with the guys on 2 meters. Helped get things ready for tomorrow when we watch the grand kids. Bed, Big Bang and sleep.

11/27/19 – Wednesday – Up and cleaned up. Downstairs to do phone and computer work including cancelling the TV service from Spectrum. Kathy came home with the grand kids so I went up and spent time with them. Played Cribbage and Mastermind with Carter. Then we made the cranberry and orange salad for tomorrow. Mike came and picked them up. We cleaned up, had dinner. I played radio and did computer updates. Bed, Big Bang and sleep.

11/28/19 – Thursday – Up and usual morning routine. Help Kathy do some things and played radio. Then cleaned up, loaded the car and up to Mike and Julie’s. Had a good time. Met some people we hadn’t seen in awhile. Got back home shortly after 6PM. Chatted with Gary on the radio and did some computer updates. To bed, TV and sleep.

11/29/19 – Friday – Up and out early to pickup a couple black Friday deals at Lowes and the hardware to fix the shower downstairs. Spent the rest of the day doing plumbing and cutting a piece of wood to cover up the hole I made in the wall. After dinner chatted with Mike and Gary on the radio. Did computer updates, to bed, TV and sleep.

11/30/19 – Saturday – Up early and out to help Gary with some things. Picked up a fitting at the hardware store and got gas on the way home. Had lunch. Fixed two fitting that were still leaking and then covered it up with the wood I cut yesterday. Did some computer work then out for Mexican with the wife. Home and put things back in the storage room. Computer updates, to bed, Big Bang and sleep.

Now the particulars:

Wednesday we had the pleasure of watching the three grandchildren.  Carter and Chloe helped in the kitchen.  Carter and I played Cribbage and Mastermind for awhile.  Then we helped grind up the cranberries and the oranges for the salad Kathy makes.  Chloe helped with the pies and getting the vegetables going.  Shelby was sorta in her own little world and played by herself most of the day.  She made some things with beads that Kathy helped her with toward the end of the day.

I saw some things at Lowes that were Black Friday specials so we went over there bright and early Friday morning.  Got a couple more Google Home Minis, new tape measure and the stuff I needed to replace the plumbing in the shower downstairs.  Came home and felt energetic so I tore out the old stuff and got the new stuff installed.  Cut the wood to cover the hole I made but noticed one of the fittings was leaking a little.  So Saturday I went to Ace hardware and picked up a new fitting.  I replaced that and apparently worked another one lose so I took it apart and put more tape on it and replace things.  Everything looks good now so I put the wood in place.  We went out for dinner so when we returned we put the shelving units back in place, went through all the stuff and put things back in an orderly fashion.  Job complete.

I’ve been working on some software for my friend Gary so he can run his HAM stuff when the weather is bad and he can’t get out to the barn.  It’s been a struggle.  Just challenge after challenge but we will get through it.

Thanksgiving was rather nice.  Julie had invited some folks that showed up in mass.  More people then she had expected.  So Kathy and I got relegated to the table with the grand kids which wasn’t so bad.  We had a good time.  Kathy was a little tense dealing with the issues over there but she got over it.  Got a chance to meet some folks we haven’t seen in awhile.  Still a hassle fixing all the stuff here, dragging it over there, preparing it then hauling all the crap back.  Doesn’t make sense to me.

Well I got all the TVs switched over to streaming video this week and canceled the Spectrum TV.  Dropped that bill from around $225 a month to $75 a month.  Only paying $60 a month for the streaming service so we are saving about $90 a month.  Plus, now that we have the streaming option available, we can adjust on a monthly basis with no contract and get the cheapest service.  I think this will work well.  And as a side benefit there are many movies available.  I watch Scary Movie this week when there was nothing on TV and it was hilarious. 

They have a benefit at the fire department.  The guys grow a mustache and people bet on when they remove it.  For everyday they keep it after the person says they will remove it, they get money.  After all the money is collected it gets split.  Half goes to the person that keeps their mustache the longest and the other half goes to a charity.  I think this year it’s the Wounded Warriors project.  And usually the person in the fire department that wins gives their half to the charity as well.  And this is what my son Todd looks like with a mustache.
