A busy and very nice week……………………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

12/01/19 – Sunday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Kathy went to church and I went to my room to do the blog. I got WordPress back to it’s traditional way of doing things so it went much faster. Kathy came home and we had lunch. I gathered TV modems to take back to Spectrum tomorrow. Then out for the usual Sunday afternoon get together. Home and chores. Dinner and downstairs for computer work. Upstairs, more chores, bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.

12/02/19 – Monday – Up early and downstairs for some phone work. Had an issue with phone service and got that resolved. Cancelled VSP eye coverage. Discovered I can drop off TV boxes at UPS. Got cleaned up and took TV cable boxes and item for Kathy to UPS and dropped off. Stopped at bank, Walmart, ACE hardware and McDonald’s to pick up lunch. Home and shared lunch with dog. Did some computer work then to bed for a nap. Up and dinner. Played radio and did computer updates. Bed, TV and sleep.

12/03/19 – Tuesday – Up early and out to help Gary. Home shortly before lunch. Took Kathy to Hillview for lunch. Home and Kathy took off to pick up Grand Kids. I worked on computer software and went to pick up Bella from being groomed. Took a short nap. Kathy came home and had dinner. Downstairs to play radio and continue working on computers. Upstairs, Bed, Big Bang and sleep.

12/04/19 – Wednesday – Up at usual time and usual morning routine. Worked on computers and played radio most of the day. My friend Ron from Denver, CO that I worked with and his wife arrived around 5PM. Spent the rest of the day chatting with them and had a good Spaghetti dinner. Bed and sleep.

12/05/19 – Thursday – Up early and cleaned up. Ron and Linda didn’t get up till around 9AM. Ron went with me to get my hair cut. Home and picked up Kathy and Linda and into Mega Caverns for a tram ride to see the lights under Louisville display. Stopped for a late lunch at the Mexican restaurant on the way home. Rode through Taylorsville to show Ron and Linda around. Home and Kathy went for her Jury Duty orientation. Ron went for a walk and I showed Linda my HAM stuff. Kathy came home and was off to bell choir practice. Ron, Linda and I went into J-town to meet Kathy at FDKY for barbeque for dinner. Home and chatted till bed time. Bed, computer updates and sleep.

12/06/19 – Friday – Up early and had breakfast with Ron and Linda. They got on the road around 9AM. Then helped Kathy do some cleanup. She went out shopping and I continued with laundry and watched for the furnace guy that came to check over the furnace for the winter. Kathy got back from shopping and we had a very late lunch. Took a nap. Up and had a snack then downstairs to chat with the guys on 2 meters. Did some computer work and updates. Upstairs, some chores, bed, TV and sleep.

12/07/19 – Saturday – Up early and out to my grand daughter Shelby’s birthday party. It was at as bouncy place. They played for awhile then had goodies. We went back to the house and watched Shelby open gifts. Then home and come chores. Then a nap. Dinner, downstairs for computer work. Upstairs, chores, bed, TV and sleep.

Now the specifics:

The beginning of the week was very productive.  Cancelled my VSP vision plan for next year and have it lined up with Eyemed to start coverage.  Premiums will be less and the coverage will be more.  So it’s a win-win for me.

Got the TV cable boxes returned.  Found out while getting a phone service issue ironed out that I could just drop them off at a UPS office location.  Kathy had an item to return so I just dropped her item off and gave them the cable boxes.  That was much easier than I had anticipated.  So now we are totally over to streaming TV and so far the only things we missed was the Monday night football game.  Haven’t figured that out yet.

I still don’t have my friend Gary’s issues resolved and he is becoming a little impatient.  I should have know better than to start this but now that I’m into it I might as well finish.  Just seems like everything I try at his house comes with major challenges.  I will pickup that effort later this week.

Wednesday this week my friend Ron and his wife stopped at our house.  They are traveling from Denver, CO area to Ocala, FL area.  I worked with Ron for almost 20 years prior to retiring from AT&T.  He worked out of Denver and we usually talked several times a week.  We only met face to face a couple times during our employment when we went to the same conference.  I had never met his lovely wife and he had never met my wife.  But I would say we had a great time.  Kathy is looking forward to them visiting again when they come up.  She is already planning on getting tickets to the Derby Dinner theater.

Ron and his wife Linda stayed over Thursday so we were looking for things to do.  They had never heard of the Mega Caverns in Louisville so we took them there for a tram ride through the Caverns to see the Christmas lights.  I was through the caverns several years ago in the evening but I got stuck driving the car.  This year they started a tram ride during the day so we got tickets for that.  It was much nicer as you could see much more.  The tram was completely open so you didn’t have the posts in the car obstructing your view.  A very enjoyable time.

Otherwise we just sat around and enjoy good conversation and good eats.

They departed our house on Friday morning around 9AM and got to Florida late Saturday.

 

 

Thursday was our grand daughter Shelby’s birthday.  They had her party Saturday.  It was at a bouncy party place for kids.  They spent an hour and a half in the bouncy toy area then to a room where they had treats for a half hour.  The pictures  above are just a few we took.  I would run out of space here if I posted them all.  After the the event we all went back to Mike and Julie’s to watch Shelby open her gifts and to give her ours.  It was a pleasant day.

Well that’s about it for this week.  Need to finish up Christmas shopping this coming week then get back to my friend Gary’s project.
