Recovery, Recuperation and Celebration……………………………….
As always, first the chronology:
2/16/20 – Sunday – Slept in today. Spent the day getting things unpacked and put away. Then started laundry. It’s good to be home.
2/17/20 – Monday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Spent the morning making phone calls and getting things done that piled up over the last two weeks. Got an appointment at KORT this afternoon at 2PM. Decided that the shoulder problem was healing itself. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Otherwise an uneventful day.
2/18/20 – Tuesday – Up early as Kathy had to go babysit Shelby. She was home sick today. I got cleaned up and played radio awhile. Then chores around the house till Kathy came over with Shelby. Then into Oxmoor Mall for Kathy’s eye exam. Ate while in the area of the mall. Back home and a nap for me. Mike came to pick up Shelby. Dinner and downstairs to chat with the guys on 2 meters. More chores, bed, Big Bang and sleep.
2/19/20 – Wednesday – Slept in a little today and the usual morning routine. Worked on getting pictures organized from our Florida trip. Kathy went to have her hair done. This afternoon worked on getting my blog entry for our Texas trip written. Bed early, Big Bang and sleep.
2/20/20 – Thursday – Up early and usual morning routine. Out to have blood drawn at the doctor’s office. Then hair cut. Down to Taylorsville to buy a card for Kathy tomorrow. Home and fixed Kathy’s computer again. Lunch and out to the Morton building to finish cutting metal for the bracket I’m fabricating. Inside and nap. Dinner, chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Computer updates. Upstairs to bed, Big Bang and sleep.
2/21/20 – Friday – Up at the usual time, cleaned up and into Oxmoor Mall for my eye exam. Everything is good, no change since last year. Got a pair of glasses for $25 for playing radio. Home with a stop at Kroger for Kathy to pick up a couple prescriptions and the local Chinese restaurant for a light lunch. Played radio till time to get ready to go out for dinner. Mike and Julie treated us at a nice restaurant call Stoney Brook. Julie had a card shower for us and we got many cards from many people. Back to Mike and Julie’s to give the kids there presents from Florida. Home, chores, bed, computer updates, TV and sleep.
2/22/20 – Saturday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Spent the morning going through all the cards we got last night. Downstairs and checked the radios. Canadian contest going on so I started doing some things on the computer. Did a lot of reading and updates. Came up mid afternoon and helped Kathy with some computer things. Dinner. Downstairs to check 2 meters but no one was on. Upstairs and chores. Bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
Now the particulars:
Spent Monday making phone calls and getting things caught up from being away 2 weeks. Was lucky and got an appointment at KORT for 2PM. Shoulder hasn’t been bothering me but wanted to get it checked out anyway. Dr. Elliot agreed that it was probably healing on it’s own and wouldn’t need anymore intervention on her part.
Shelby was home sick on Tuesday so Kathy had to get up early and go over and pick her up. I went with them so I could watch Shelby while Kathy was getting her eye exam at Oxmoor Mall. I got tired of Shelby playing the phone so I offered to take her to the Lego store. She was willing to make that trade. Of course when she saw the other two grand kids she was quick to tell them that pappy bought her something at the Lego store. But Kathy got some new contacts and now she can see again.
I thought about getting the blog started for our trip to Florida but decided I should get the one for our Texas trip in October done first. So I have been working on that. I did get pictures organized for both trips. Hang on for further developments.
I got my blood work done for my routine physical next week as well as an overdue haircut.
Kathy’s computer downloaded some updates for Windows 10 and it froze 91% of the way through the update. I had to recover that for her. Of course she told it to update again and again I had to back out of it. Eventually Microsoft will figure out that the update is no good and fix it. Word of advice, don’t let Windows automatically update and before you let it update establish a system recovery check point.
Had a chance to go out to the Morton building and finish cutting the top and bottom piece of the bracket I am making for my son-in-law Mike. Now I need to get out there and drill the holes. Then cut a couple spacers, weld it all together and then mount it for him.
Had my eye exam this week and nothing changed. But I did get the doctor to do a prescription for a pair of glass that will work for me when I’m playing radio. Went next door to Lensecrafters and got a pair for $25. This is the first time we have done the eye exam under Eyemed instead of VSP. From observation, my premiums or less and my coverage is more.
Last but not lease, Friday was the big day. It was our 50th wedding anniversary. Mike and Jule took us out to the Stoney River Steakhouse for dinner. Julie had made arrangements with everyone to send her the cards and we had a card shower.
If you didn’t see them on Facebook, here are two pictures Julie took of us. Top picture is us opening some of the cards we received and the bottom was a toast with beverages supplied by the Stoney River team. Yes, it was O’Douls. We received a total of 76 cards. They came from all over. We received cards from friends we made in Carmel, NY, Pa friends, KY friends, people from church, people I used to work with, from Kathy’s class mates at Geisinger Medical Center as well as family. It was an amazing time and we thank everyone for making it happen.
That’s it for this week. Hopefully I will make progress on the Texas and Florida trip blogs this week. Anyway, blog at you again next week if not before.
