Now the specifics:

This might be very long so hold on to your pants.

It is hard for us to understand this weather down here. It is the middle of November and Christmas is only a few weeks away. Kathy has trimmed her outside rose bushes a couple times now thinking it was the end of summer. I wanted to take some pictures of our work outside and here are her roses.

Sunday this week was rather uneventful. Monday was a nice day here. The temperature topped out at 81 degrees. It was sunny with a little wind that blew me around but I enjoyed riding the motorcycle. I think that was the last really warm day we will have till spring. I’m sure I’ll get a couple more rides in but I’ll bundle up a lot more. Took my route down 55 to the Blue Grass Parkway and over to 31E and up through Bardstown to Mt. Washington. Over 44 to the Dixie Highway. Up the Dixie Highway to Hooter’s for lunch. Then a stop at one of my watering holes for a little R&R. Was home by 4PM and put 121.9 miles on the bike. A very good day to be alive.

I did some testing this week. My friend Gary said he is about to inherit a Windows 7 computer from his wife but I wasn’t sure all the software would work that he has on his Windows XP machine. So I built a test environment here and everything worked on Windows 7. He was glad to hear that.

Sorry it’s a little blurry but this is the proof that Kathy got her flu shot this year on Wednesday when we were out running around. For those of you that know her, she was very brave. lol She also got a new Ipad Air for her Christmas gift.

Kathy was lucky this week. She only had to work Tuesday. Mike was off for some dental work on Thursday. Next week it will be Monday and Thursday. That will be the schedule till things change again. This is because one teacher and a few kids tested positive for COVID. None of which were in any of the kids classes. This is so frustrating. People just don’t understand this stuff and they are pulling decisions out of their asses.

Thursday the guys came to put in my new driveway.

The drainage ditch was just a little too much to get farm implements in and out of the field so we put this in to eliminate that problem. Of course I had to ask the State for permission as it’s on their right of way. They told me I needed an 18″ pipe and that alone cost me a little over $1,000. Anyway, it’s in and that’s another problem eliminated.

They let their equipment set behind our house on Thursday evening as it was late and I asked them to move a dirt pile for me. Our friend Buddy came over early Friday. He got rid of the dirt pile for us and loaded up his equipment and was gone.

Here’s where the dirt pile used to be. In the spring I will get some top soil and seed it so it looks nice.

After we paid Buddy, Kathy and I took off shopping. I got a new helmet I had seen at the sports equipment place we went to when Stan was here. My existing Shark helmet is showing signs of wear and developing a few cracks here and there. So I got a Torc helmet with built in blue tooth. They are not extremely expensive so Kathy gave me that for my Christmas present.

Saturday I went over to Julie’s early to help her with some things. Put the sensor on her second garage door and hung some mirrors for the girls. Carter wanted a couple things hung in his room so I took care of that. Was done with that a little before lunch time so I came home, unloaded the truck and put it away. Inside for lunch and downstairs to participate in the CQWE contest. It’s a contest for anyone working or retired from any bell system entity. I spent 4 or 5 hours listening and calling CQ on multiple bands and heard absolutely nothing. After dinner I went back to it and heard one station very week in Florida so I decided to give it up for this year. I’ll try again next year.

Well that’s about it for this week. Sorry for it being so long. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and well. I’ll blog at you again next week.
