Week Ending 6/12/2021

Not a remarkable week…………………………………

As always, first the chronology:

6/6/21 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Did the blog then up for lunch.  Got cleaned up and over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together.  Out to Applebee’s for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

6/7/21 – Monday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and out to the range.  Stopped at Cycle Gear for a new pair of riding gloves.  Home and lunch.  Worked on the IC735 and played radio.  Cleaned guns.  Usual evening routine.

6/8/21 – Tuesday – Tried working some radio today.  Made one SSB contact by checking in to the ECARS net.  Spent the rest of the day finishing up the replacement of the 4066 chip in the IC735.  Usual evening routine.

6/9/21 – Wednesday – Up a little early today.  Kathy had an appointment to get blood drawn and to take Grand kids to various places so I had doggy duty for the day.  I did some research on the computer and some reading while watching the critters.  Kathy came home early afternoon and we had lunch.  She took a nap and I got cleaned up.  Then out to Taylorsville to the Mexican Restaurant for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

6/10/21 – Thursday – Up early today.  Kathy was off to watch the grand children.  I got cleaned up and went over and picked up Gary and we went to get our hair cuts.  Took him back home and spent the rest of the day on the computer and watching the dogs.  Kathy came home and we order Chinese for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

6/11/21 – Friday – Up early with dogs barking at guys working on the deck.  Kathy went shopping so I got stuck watching the dogs.  She came home, helped her unload car and put things away.  Then she went to get her hair done.  Again, I got stuck watching the dogs.   Had lunch and Kathy didn’t get home till almost 3PM.  I got cleaned up and went into J-town to help with HAM radio license testing.  Home and had dinner.  Usual evening routine.

6/12/21 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Out to do yard work.  About 5 hours.  Finished up a little after 4PM.  Had a great dinner.  Usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

Got a lot of work done on the IC735 radio this week. Got the IC chip that I suspect was defective and keeping the meter from working. I wanted to wait till I got new panel lights replaced before putting it together. I ordered some awhile ago but apparently had a hole in the bag and most of them fell out and only one remained. So I ordered what I thought was 6 more for $8. When the package arrived it was only one bulb. Well, for $8 each I’m not going to replace them all. I replace the one or two that may be burnt out and put it back together. As of the writing of this blog I’ve not had time to do that. But I will make time later this week.

Got out to the range Monday to relieve some stress. It was nice not have to wear a face mask while shooting. Didn’t do to badly.

After the range I stopped at Cycle Gear for a new pair of motorcycle riding gloves. The first pair I bought was a pair of BMW gloves and the lining started detaching from the shell so I canned them and bought a new pair. Haven’t tried them out yet but will this coming week.

I got stuck doing doggy patrol almost three days this week. Kathy had an appointment to get her blood drawn in advance of her check up this coming week then had to ferry grand children to various things. Didn’t get home till early afternoon. Most of a day shot for me. Then Thursday she watched them all day. Again I was relegated to doggy patrol for the day. And Friday she had more running around to do and I got stuck again for the better part of the day. Anyway, now we can trust Rusty in most of the house and leave them alone for several hours without coming back to a pile of poop or pee all over the place. So all in all, things are progressing well.

The railing finally came in and two guys come over to install it. Never saw two guys screw up a job so badly. Two sections of railing are missing from the order. What they did install looks like crap. Some sections have a single center support while other sections have 2 middle supports. The middle supports are not dressed up at all. In one case they apparently cut a support short and just shoved the cut off piece under it. Some places the center supports are not touching anything. Just hanging free. This is Kathy’s project but I told her I thought it was unacceptable. She texted the boss and we’ll see what he has to say this coming week.

Helped with HAM license testing this past week on Friday evening. Only two guys showed up. One was a new HAM and passed his test to become technician. The other was a technician and passed the test to upgrade to General. Not a great turnout but successful.

Saturday was yard work day. First day it hadn’t been raining off and on. The grass was really tall in places and it took longer than usual. And it was very hot and muggy. But we got it done.

That’s all the excitement for this week. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way. Blog at you again next week.
