A very busy week again………………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
10/31/21 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Stan, Kathy and I went over to Julie’s again today. Stan and I fixed the sensor on the garage door and loaded a table and chairs in the truck. Had lunch there then Kathy helped Julie with a costume for Chloe. Home and did the blog. Nap and dinner. Usual evening routine.
11/01/21 – Monday – Up a little early to see Stan off. Kathy had a rough night with the dogs so she went back to bed. I did some research on the computer. Kathy got up and I got the family room back in order and replaced the furnace filter. Had lunch. Then out to the shop to work on the portable generator. Drained some gas, replace fuel filter and blew out gas line and carburetor. Worked on the outside light and discovered the fixture is bad. Will replace it tomorrow. Checked Kerosene and cans are empty. Will get those filled tomorrow. Turned off the water to the shop and drained all the pipes. In for a nap. Up and scheduled my pneumonia shot for next Monday. Had dinner and usual evening routine.
11/02/21 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out with Kathy to run errands. Went to Rural King for an outside light for the shop and a ballast for one of the fluorescent fixtures in the shop. Did not find what I was looking for but did pick up a couple T-shirts. Over to Dollar General to pick up some stocking stuffers for a project my church is working on. Then to Lowes and got the outside light and ballast as well as some garbage bags. Down to J-town for lunch at Chubby Ray’s. Then to Kroger to pick up a prescription and shop for things to make Jambalaya this weekend with my son-in-law. Home and put things away. Put up some hangers for a pole so Kathy can hang clothes in the attic. Out to the shop and put the new ballast in the light fixture. All is good now. Arms were too tired to work on the outside light. Came in and had a very light dinner. Usual evening routine.
11/03/21 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time. Chores around the house then cleaned up and out for my COVID booster shot. Got gas on the way home and picked up Kathy. Went to Hometown and had salad for lunch. Home and put up new outside light on the Morton building. Back to Taylorsville and ACE hardware for some silicon sealer for the new light. Got 10 gallons of Kerosene while there. Home and finished up the light project. Inside and installed new wireless access point (WAP) in Kathy’s office. Dinner and usual evening routine.
11/04/21 – Thursday – Up at 1AM feeling like I got beat with a stick. I suspect it was the COVID booster shot I got yesterday or maybe being on a ladder working the last two days. Spent most of the day in bed. Got nothing done.
11/05/21 – Friday – Up a little early and felt much better than yesterday. Go cleaned up and checked with my son-in-law to see if he got the tire off Julie’s car. Then over to Gary’s to reset his system. Home and chores. Then Kathy and I went to Outback for lunch. Home and worked at getting winter clothes out and putting summer clothes away. Took a nap. Up for dinner and usual evening routine.
11/06/21 – Saturday – Up a little early this morning. Feeling good today. Cleaned up and my son-in-law Mike came over around 9AM. We worked on the rear tire for his zero turn mower. Then had lunch with Kathy at the Mexican restaurant. Back to the house and made a batch of Jambalaya. Mike took it home with him. I made another batch for me. Had some for dinner. Usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Spent the majority of last weekend helping Julie with various things. Stan was here so he helped me out.
Stan departed Monday at around 8:30AM and was headed to South Carolina. Then he was going on to Jacksonville, FL and then Florida City where he will stay for the winter. He seems a lot more up than he has in the past. I think we will go down to see him this winter.
Got the portable generator out a couple weeks ago to run it for awhile and it didn’t start again. I keep forgetting to run it and always have problems. So, Monday I removed the gas line from the fuel valve. Drained some gas out of the tank to get rid of any possible sludge. Then blew the remaining gas line out with air as well as the carburetor. Put it all together and it ran fine. Ran it for about 20 minutes while doing other things. Need to put that on my calendar a bring up like doing the garage doors and doing maintenance on the septic system.
Noticed one of my overhead fluorescent light fixtures was out. It has four bulbs so about the only thing that would cause all four to go out at once would be a bad ballast. So I picked one up and changed it out. All is good now.
Earlier in the week I noticed one of the two bulbs on the outside light wasn’t working. I changed the bulb and no help. Concluded it must be the fixture. So I got a new fixture while I was out and made sure it was LED this time so I don’t have to change bulbs.
Wednesday I went to Walgreens and got my COVID booster shot. Our pharmacy at Kroger only has Moderna so I went to Walgreens for Pfizer. That was Wednesday morning. About 1AM Thursday I woke up in pain. Felt like someone had beat me with a stick all over my body. I took some Motrin and spend most of the day Thursday in bed. Friday was much better but still a lot of fatigue. Still a small price to pay for not having COVID and being downs for weeks.
Gary had more power hits at his house last week. Again it took down his computer that runs the remote for his radio. It was cold and he has problems getting outside and up the stairs to where things are at so I ran over Friday and reset it for him. It’s on a UPS but it’s an old one and the computer has a cheap power supply in it. I need to figure out something else for him.
Biggest chore was digging out the winter clothes Friday. Got them all organized and put the summer clothes up stairs in storage.
Mike (my son-in-law) came over Saturday. His rear tire on the zero turn mower was flat. Said he just noticed it flat in the garage. We spent a lot of time getting it to inflate as the sidewall had come lose from the wheel. After we got it inflated we found a hole in the tread. Ran to the auto parts store for plugging material and plugged that hole. Found another hole in the side wall. Tried to plug that but to no avail. Mike’s going to try and find a new tire and we’ll probably put that on in two weeks.
Things on the political front are getting more and more bleak. I hate to even look at the news anymore. I can’t understand how people still believe Bidden is doing any good. I am afraid that only God can get us out of this mess now. Very sad. Very sad indeed.
Well hope this finds everyone safe and well. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
Yes, probably the Covid booster. First two didn’t affect me but the booster made me extremely tired. Just slept it off and all was fine. Got the pneumonia and shingles shot and they burned going in but no issues. Need second shingles shot after Dec 17th. Second pneumonia is shot next year. Tired of shots! Keep busy I see…lots of tasks…so much fun owning a house! Again, stay safe and healthy!
