Not a super exciting week……………………………………

As always first the chronology:

11/07/21 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and chores.  Out to church.  Home and worked on the blog till Kathy got home.  Had lunch then off to Gary’s for the afternoon get together.  Home, picked up Kathy and over to Cracker Barrel for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

11/08/21 – Monday – Up a little early today.  Cleaned up and out to get a pneumonia shot at Krogers.  Got rejected so looked for some sauerkraut to no avail and started home.  Julie called and said she just got notification that her garage door had opened so I headed up there to check it out.  Everything was OK so headed back home.  Kathy went shopping.  I did some work in the shack.  Kathy came home and we had sauerkraut, Kielbasa and mashed potatoes for supper.  Usual evening routine.

11/09/21 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time.  Spent the morning resolving some security issues with our lan.  Had lunch then cleaned up and over to work on the repeater.  Back home and did some research.  Kathy was out taking Chloe to a doctor’s appointment.  She came home and we had dinner.  Usual evening routine.

11/10/21 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time.  Out around 9:30AM and started the yard work.  Break for lunch and finished about 3PM.  Not a hard job this time.  Had burgers on the grill for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

11/11/21 – Thursday – Up a little early and out for a doctor’s appointment.  Stopped by Kroger on the way home to pick up a couple prescriptions.  Kathy went up to Julie’s for something with the garage door.  Did some reading till she got home and had lunch.  Watched videos about the Yaesu Fusion repeater and did some other things on the shack.  Dinner then out to the shop to cut some wood.  Inside and usual evening routine.

11/12/21 – Friday – Up a little early and out to pick up Gary for hair cuts today.  Dropped him off and over to Lowes for some screws for my wood project.  Back and lunch.  Out to the shop for around 3 hours doing some wood working.  Inside and played radio awhile.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

11/13/21 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Out to the shop to put more Polyurethane on my wood project.  In for lunch.  Another trip out to the shop this afternoon.  Been cleaning up my desk in the shack in the mean time.  Got caught up on sleep a little this afternoon.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:

It has become apparent to me lately that if there is an obviously easy and logical way to do something, Kathy will think of another way to do it. Enough said on that subject.

I got serious about my audio project his week. I have been doing some audio work on various things and always need an amplifier I can feed the audio to so I can hear what’s going on. So I built a little amplifier based on the output device used in most car radios. I want to make it look pretty so I’m doing some fancy wood work to make it nice. I will show you pictures after I get more done on it.

I also decided it’s time to get back to working on a script to massage my HAM radio log data to submit to the various online programs. So the easiest scripting language I know is Perl so I dug the books out and doing some refreshing.

Also started practicing my code again. I was able to copy 13 wpm to pass my general class HAM radio exam but couldn’t do that now if my life depended on it.

I was scheduled for a Pneumonia shot at the Kroger pharmacy on Monday. They ran my stuff through Medicare and the system said I already had all my Pneumonia shots. Apparently not something you have to have every year. So I got lucky on that one.

Monday when I was leaving Kroger, Julie called very concerned because she got an alert that her garage door at the house had been opened and there was not suppose to be anyone home. So, I headed up the Gene Snyder to go scope out the situation. I was cursing the whole time since I decided I didn’t need my gun just to go get my Pneumonia shot. I suspected it was some sort of malfunction or someone in the neighborhood had just programmed a new remote and it affect both garage doors. Anyway, I got to the house and checked it out and everything was OK. I suggested she call the garage door people to reset the garage door but of course she hasn’t done that yet. But I am starting to carry my gun everywhere I go.

I’m still working on the controller for the UHF repeater here in Spencer County. Just can’t seem to nail down the correct combination. Hopefully I’ll make some better progress this week.

My new router came with some built in security programs. It pointed out some configuration problems with the LAN that I knew about but never bothered with. But since it was pointing a finger at it I felt I needed to address them so I fixed all that up this week.

Last but not least I had the initial appointment to schedule my colonoscopy. Not something I’m looking forward to but I guess it needs done.

Only other thing exciting was picking Gary up on Friday to get our hair cuts.
