Some major issues addressed this week.

As always, first the chronology:

5/1/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Kathy blew off church to go play with Julie and the grand kids.  So, I blew off church and went back to bed.  Didn’t get up till lunch time.  Got cleaned up and had a light snack for lunch.  Downstairs and did the blog.  Over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together.  Back home.  Kathy and I went to Cattleman’s for dinner.  Home and usual evening routine.

5/2/22 – Monday – Up very early today.  Took Kathy into the eye surgery center for a 6:15 AM appointment to get her right eye done.  She was in for about 2 hours and we were on our way home at 8:30.  Got her home and settled.  Put the truck away.  Then we both laid down for a nap.  Spent the rest of the day doing domestic chores for her.  Light snack for lunch and barbecues for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

5/3/22 – Tuesday – Up early again to have Kathy at her doctor’s appointment at 8:15.  Everything checked out well.  Did not get much sleep last night so when I got home I went back to bed till noon.  Up and lunch.  Got water on to Morton building.  Practice Morse Code and my Archery.  Had a great dinner then usual evening routine.

5/4/22 – Wednesday – Up a little late this morning.  Cleaned up and chores around the house.  Took the wife to Hometown Pizza for lunch.  Home and practiced code and made some phone calls for doctor’s appointments.  Had a light dinner then up to the middle school for Carter’s band concert.  Home and usual evening routine.

5/5/22 – Thursday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and out for another poll worker class in Taylorsville.  Got home from that around 1PM.  Had lunch then some chores around the house.  A nap.  Up and helped Kathy in with the groceries.  Dinner and usual evening routine.

5/6/22 – Friday – Up a little early this morning and out to a doctor’s appointment.  Back home a little after 10.  Took a nap then lunch.  Kathy went to get her hair done and I went to the shack to do some research.  Had dinner then the usual evening routine.

5/7/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Very dreary Derby Day.  Kathy went to Walmart for a Mani/Pedicure.  I spent most of the day in the shack doing research.  Took a nap this afternoon.  Otherwise, usual events of the day.

Now the specifics:

The last time we had our eyes checked (In March) they told Kathy that her cataracts were bad enough they needed to be taken care of. They gave us a referral but Kathy felt more comfortable with the guy she went to for a corneal abrasion. They agreed and set up the times. The right eye was the worst so she went in last Monday to have that done. I think the biggest problem she has was getting all the medication out of her system. She had a follow up appointment Tuesday morning and they said she now has 20/20 vision in her right eye. When we got home I took the right lens out of her glasses but she said it was better without any glasses. So Wednesday we decided to go to Hometown Pizza for lunch and she drove. Didn’t do bad. A little over cautious but that was good. Anyway, she’s back to normal now other than needing to put eye drops in her right eye 4 times a day. The 16th she goes back in to have the left eye done. I think her biggest concern now is to get the corrective lenses category removed from her driver’s license.

Finally got around to turning the water on to the Morton Building. I don’t think it’s going to get cold enough to freeze anything until fall.

Wednesday evening went to Carter’s band concert. They were much improved since the last one. Carter didn’t think so but he’s always complaining.

Went to another Polling Officer Training on Thursday. Found out I had a new co-worker. All set now for the 17th. Still need to re-read the book.

I sent a message to the pain specialist on Wednesday about getting an appointment to start the process of getting another shot in my back. As luck would have it they hired a new nurse practitioner and I got an appointment for Friday morning. She went over everything and did some checking and prescribed the injection. Now I just have to wait for medicare to give them the go ahead and I’ll have that scheduled.

Got some archery practice in this week. I can see some improvement. Don’t think I’m going to win any competitions but at lest I won’t look like a total idiot.

Also getting back to doing some morse code. I never had time to become really proficient. Learned just enough to receive 13 words per minute to pass my general and advanced tests when they still required code. I found out I haven’t lost as much as I thought. I’m copying W1AW code practice at about 10 words per minute. I want to keep working till I’m proficient at about 13 WPM then I’ll try some on the air stuff.
