Week Ending 9/23/17

A very interesting week………………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

9/17/17 – Sunday – Slept in as they were not having the 8:30AM service this morning. Having some Gas Light festival in Jeffersontown so for some reason the church thought they needed to have just one service at 10AM and hold it outside. Needless to say neither Gary or I went. Kathy was tired so she slept in. I went to my room and did some computer things and played with radios. Noon went upstairs, had lunch and Kathy started baking a cake for our Sunday afternoon get together. Gary is batching it this week as his wife is back visiting in Kansas. Took the cake over and some terminations for Gary. Spent some time there, then home. A light dinner. To bed, some TV and sleep. No Big Bang tonight.

9/18/17 – Monday – Spent most of the day cleaning up my room. Still recovering from the 3 weeks I was studying. Nothing got done. Now at lease I can see my desk. Still have a pack of papers to file. Got cleaned up and out to take the twins and Shelby to the pediatrician for their flu shoots. Took them back home till Mike and Julie got home. Then had dinner over there. Home, come computer work and to bed.

9/19/17 – Tuesday – Up and out to GFS to pick up things for Dare to Care. Over to the church and delivered them. Then over to pick up Gary and to O’Charlie’s for lunch. Then to Walmart to help Gary buy a new TV for their bedroom. Took Gary and the TV back home and dropped them off. Home and took a nap.

9/20/17 – Wednesday – Up and out for my hair cut. Home and did some chores around the house. Kathy came home with Chloe. She wasn’t feel well so she didn’t go to school today. I took Kathy and Chloe to Dairy Queen for lunch. Kathy left for Dare to Care and I watched Chloe till it was time to go pick up Gary. Going down the street to the church I hit a recessed drain in the road, heard a pop and it started grinding. Only 100 yards to the church parking lot so I continued driving. Got to the church and smelled rubber burning. Got Gary and Chloe out of the car and pulled it over into a parking space. Julie was waiting to pick up Chloe. I borrowed Kathy’s car to take Gary home. When I got back to the church I checked the car and the lower spring plate on the left front strut was sitting on top the tire. Needless to say that wasn’t something I was going to fix in the parking lot. Kathy and I came home in her car. Some desert and to bed and sleep.

9/21/17 – Thursday – Up and over to the service center. Told them what happened and they said bring it in. I was going to use a dolly from U-haul but they recommended against that. I think I have some towing services through my insurance company. Wasn’t in the mood to mess with that today. Really didn’t feel good so I went home, had lunch, took some pills and went to sleep. Went over to pick up Gary around 5PM and out to dinner. Then over to Jim’s house for his retirement party. Took Gary home, came home, some Big Bang and to sleep.

9/22/17 – Friday – Up and did chores around the house. Around lunch time Kathy went shopping so I geared up and headed out on the motorcycle. Rode a little over 100 miles but it was a little warm. I stopped during my ride for a burger at Big Boy’s. Got home a little after 3PM. Laid down to cool off awhile. Up and changed clothes. Kathy came home from shopping so I helped her unload the car. Went out to Moby Dick’s for dinner. Home and to my room for some computer work. Then to bed, some big bang and sleep.

9/23/17 – Saturday – Up and some chores. Then outside to work. Dug up some garbage that was starting to surface in the back yard. Ended up pulling it out with the truck. Last week Kathy hit something metal with the lawn tractor. As I dug it was apparently the bottom part of an office chair. I guess everyone around here has a buried dumped somewhere on their property. Went to get gas cans filled then started mowing lawn. Finished up just before 4PM. Inside to clean up. Then dinner. To my room for some computer work and play radio. To bed, some Big Bang and sleep.

Now the Particulars:

If you read the chronology you might have picked up on the fact I had problems with the Chrysler.  Went over a recessed drain in the road and apparently damaged the left front strut.  I didn’t feel like dealing with it this week so I left it parked behind the church in their parking lot.  This week I’ll have it towed to the shop to see how much it will cost to repair.  It’s nice having the Chrysler to bang around town and haul the dog or other things as needed and save the mileage on the truck.  But now I think I’m to the point I need to decide soon that I need to stop putting money in it.  I will know more later this week about that.

If you haven’t heard, Method Man and Snoop Dogg are hosting some game shows.  I have no idea why they picked these names for themselves.  Perhaps they are embarrassed with their real names.  Not sure.  Method Man is apparently an actor per Wikipedia.  Snoop Dogg is a rapper, actor, producer and a bunch more things.  Anyway, they are suppose to be hosting some game shows now.  I’m not sure if the game show people are getting desperate for hosts or these two individuals are really hitting the bottom of the barrel for jobs.  Either way it doesn’t mean anything to me as I have never or do I plan to watch any game shows.  I just had to chuckle when I read this.

I had the honor this week of going to a retirement open house for a member of our church.  He was a Brigadier General in the army and retired as Adjutant of the Fort Knox facility.  This man is amazing.  To meet him or his wife you would never know who he is.  His wife was also an officer in the army but resigned after 6 years to raise children.  Jim had been involved in many things prior to his last assignment.  Among the many positions held at one point he was the commander of the 82nd Paratrooper Support Battalion.  He had many of his officer friends at the gathering.  One young lady insisted on addressing me as Sir.  It happened a couple times until I finally asked her to stop as I had only errand the rank of E6.  Everyone at the gathering were respectful and amazing to be with.  Nothing was trashed and if something needed done, someone pitched in to do it.  It was an amazing event.  Thank you Jim for inviting me.

Last but not least I’d like to explain something here.  I saw this on face book and decided to plagiarize it. Many people at different times have complained about Presidents winning the election without getting the majority of votes.  Let me explain how the Electoral College works.

There are 3,141 counties in the United States.  Trump won 3,084 of them.  Clinton won 57.  There are 62 counties in New York State.  Trump won 46 of them and Clinton won 16.  Clinton won the popular vote by approximately 1.5 million votes.  In the 5 counties that encompass New York City (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond (Staten Island) and Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump.  (Clinton only won 4 of these counties, Trump won Staten Island)  Therefore, these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.  These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.  The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.  When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those that encompass a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.

This situation has come up several times in our countries history and every time it does, someone wants to change it.  I will never say never but I seriously doubt this will ever change.

OK, sorry about the long blog this week.  I’ll say goodbye for now and hope you all had a good week and a better week to come.
