A very busy but nice week………………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
7/15/18 – Sunday – Up early and morning routine. Kathy and I went over and picked up Gary for church. Home and got the truck with the trailer and headed down to Shepardsville. Loaded the last of the things from the house down there and brought it to the Morton building. Unloaded everything and got things cleaned up. In the house for dinner. Chores then to bed, computer updates, blog, TV and sleep.
7/16/18 – Monday – Up normal time and usual morning routine. Kathy was already gone up to Mike and Julie’s to take care of the grand children. I went down to the post office to have the mail held 2 days this week. Home and chores around the house all day. Kathy came home around 5PM and we went to Taylorsville Chinese restaurant for dinner. Home and continued chores and getting packed for our trip this week. Finally bed after 10PM, computer updates, TV and sleep.
7/17/18 – Tuesday – Up and usual morning routine. Cleaned up and out for a dentist appointment at 9AM. Home and started loading the truck. Kathy got back from taking Bella to the kennel. Finished loading the truck and on the way around 11:30 AM. Stopped on the way for lunch at Wendy’s. Got to Pickett State Park around 3:15PM there time (Central time) or 2:15PM our time (Eastern time). Checked in and the cabin was very nice. Unloaded the truck and headed into Jamestown and Walmart to pick up some groceries. Back to the cabin and put them away. Then off to find a restaurant that was highly recommended. Found it and discovered it’s only open Thursday through Saturday and for brunch on Sunday. So, back into Jamestown to find a place to eat. Ended up at Pizza Hut. Back to the park. Did some looking around and hiking. Then to the cabin. Relaxed, played some games on my phone, reading and sleep.
7/18/18 – Wednesday – Up and usual morning routine. Had breakfast and cleaned up. On the road to see our friend Joan. Spent several hours with her. Then back to the park. Stopped at the office and bought some T-shirts and key chains for the grand children. Spent the rest of the day around the camp. Went into Jamestown for the Chinese buffet and stopped at Walmart for water and ice cream. Back to the cabin and rest awhile then out for a walk. Back, had ice cream and started packing for our trip home tomorrow.
7/19/18 – Thursday – Up and usual morning routine. Had breakfast, cleaned up the cabin and loaded the truck. Checked out and on the road by 9AM Central Time or 10AM Eastern and headed home. Stopped on the way for lunch. Home around 3PM. Kathy went to get Bella out of the kennel, I unloaded the truck. Continued to unpack till Kathy got home. Had a little dinner and downstairs to meet the guys on the radio. Pulled emails. Upstairs to bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
7/20/18 – Friday – Up late and usual morning routine. Continued cleaning things from our trip. Pulled emails and did computer work. Kathy went shopping. Got a call from Julie inviting us out to dinner at a Mexican place in Middletown. Went up there. Then home, more chores around the house and some work in Morton building. Back to the house, bed, computer work, TV and sleep.
7/21/18 – Saturday – Up late, usual morning routine. Cleaned up and out to Harbor Freight to pick up a wagon that was on sale. Then to Mike and Julie’s. Kathy helped Julie make meat balls and I worked with Mike on some electrical things. Home and put my wagon together. Dinner and downstairs for some computer work. Bed and computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
Now the specifics:
Took a trip to Jamestown, TN. to visit a friend we know from New York and to stay at the Pickett CCC Memorial Park. I’ll just say here that we had a tremendous time, learned a lot and got some exercise. Read more on the travel blog entry that will be published later this week.
Well the house in Shepardsville is no longer an issue. We helped Mike and Julie get final stuff moved out and they closed on the sale this past Friday. Another issue with closure.
I’ve been working on fabricating something for my 5KW generator with wheels so Kathy can haul it around with her golf cart and use her electric tools like hedge trimmer, pole saw, etc. This week I was just looking around on the internet and saw a utility wagon. I put two and two together and decided to mount the generator on a utility wagon and rig it with a tongue that would go on the hitch of her golf cart or the lawn tractor. Looked at the dimensions and found few wagons under $100 that would work. Then I looked at Harbor Freight. Not only did they have a wagon with 10″ wheels that was 2 feet by 4 feet which would handle the generator nicely, but it was cheap and I had a 25% off coupon. So, went up and got one. Ended up paying around $65 for it including tax. Brought it home, put it together and it will work nicely. Tried to find another one before the 25% off coupon expired but couldn’t find one. I was going to use it for my sprayer that I now have to hoist on the trailer of the tractor. I’m not sure I really need it as I don’t use the sprayer much. Perhaps next week I’ll have pictures of the finished project.
OK, that’s it for now. Check back later this week for the travel blog on Jamestown. Lot of pictures. Bye for now.
